"Are you secretly telling Mirepurr to put me on patrols with you?
The accusation was a lighthearted one. Aside from one patrol with Lilacfur, the cinnamon tabby had often found herself at the medicine cat's side, either helping out with herbs or showing them a few battle moves. She didn't know if she could say she was close with Starlingheart, but she certainly felt closer than they had been when they'd shared a council. Pushing out into the wilderness, Ferndance moved slightly ahead of the black and white cat, acting as a lanky barrier between her and whatever may have lurked ahead. It was a guard duty scorned by the frequent looks over her shoulder towards the other, to the point where once or twice, she had almost headbutt trees. With her most recent conversation, she chose to pay more attention to what was ahead.
"It's very sweet, but surely there's someone else you'd want to walk with? If you keep telling me things, I'm going to become the next med—" Her eyes widened on the area ahead, where, within a small gap between the clearing, pink-flowered plants clumped together. The tip of her tail practically buzzed with excitement. Orange and brown butterflies swarmed upon the patch, some settled upon its petals and sipped up nectar, others flapped around them to try and get some for themselves. Movement. So much movement of tiny little bug creatures. Flying bug creatures.
They were beautiful. She wanted to catch every last one of them. Forgetting her charge, Ferndance took a couple of steps forward and crouched against the damp earth, licking her lips as if eyeing a delectable morsel. In her stupor, she blinked fervently and cast her gaze back upon Starlingheart, almost surprised to see the medicine cat still hovering about. "Do you need them?" She asked, voice breathy. "The flowers." With prey blinding her instincts, it was another thing she'd almost completely disregarded. But, before she went trampling over the local flora in pursuit of entertainment, it was best to check in with her friend.
// You've heard tales of leaf-fall coming with a rise of a plant called 'milkweed'. it seems you come across a patch, and it's overrun with butterflies!
