//No need to wait for @Polynesia

SkyClan had proven to be the well of many firsts for Whitekit. His first meal of fresh meat, his first experience with the rain and the cold, and so much more. Though it was only just beginning to scratch the surface of all that the world had to offer in terms of good and bad. Something he had never seen before was that of a cat who looked like skin pulled tight around bones. Starvation had never become part of his life yet, he had never known the feeling of an empty belly. So to see a cat looking so scrawny was truly a first for him.

Generally the kit avoided the medicine den, partly because he found Fireflyglow a little scary, but also because he always felt overwhelmed by the smell of herbs whenever he came past it. It was a lot to take in, but seeing the stranger lounging outside the mysterious den it made it seem worth the trouble of facing his fears. Often enough he had seen the apprentices and warriors bringing food to others, so why shouldn’t he do the same? It seemed like a good way to make friends, and to maybe rouse praise from Edenberry if they saw him working hard. Toddling over to the fresh-kill pile he then gave it an examine as he tried to pick something out. Though being a kit it soon proved hard to find something that he could actually carry easily. Eventually he left the pile with a mouse in tow, partly dragging it across the expanse of the camp towards Polynesia.

As he drew closer he waved his tail in greeting before plopping the now somewhat ragged looking mouse before her. ”Hello there! I brought you something to eat!” He cooed pridefully as he puffed out his chest. ”Is there anything else I can do for you?”

Weary, glazed, distant. That was the state of things in her mind since she'd been brought into the Clan, practically dragged here by a certain tawny pelted tom. This wasn't anything that she was familiar with, she'd never heard of a clan. What she did know were colonies, small enclaves of ex-kittypets and the like who gathered together in parks, in alleys and in some cursed curbsides. That was what she'd known her whole life and now she was in some sort of giant park, surrounded by strange cats that gazed upon her as an oddity. It was easy for her to assume that it was her emaciated form, scarcely hidden by her thick and bedraggled pelt. As of yet, she'd not had the energy to get properly cleaned up in between the small meals and herbs fed to her by their healer.

The idea of eating plants was strange to her, being something she'd never even considered but the ones he gave her soothed the pains that wracked many parts of her body and the mouse-bile drove invading ticks from her flesh. Up until the last couple of days she thought she understood the world she inhabited but that had been completely flipped on its head when she woke up day after day in this strange encampment. Dull honey eyes scanned the area around her, head constantly on a swivel, waiting for some tell that this was too good to be true. It had to be, because everything always was.

A small cloud totters into her field of view and subtly she tracks the form although she never outright stares. What she does notice is how he gazes at her with curiosity, his stare lacking of any judgements. Polynesia was something he'd never seen before and she does her best to smile but it looks more sad than anything else. He's a harsh reminder that she was once a child, not one with soft fur and bright eyes like this stranger, no, but instead a scared girl with big round eyes and her mother alone. She'd never met her father but she knew looking at the kitten fluff and curious eyes of this stranger that he had it easy but she felt no resentment tickling her thoughts.

What she saw was something good, undeniable proof that these cats could not be so bad if they kept tottering kittens around. The events that follow surprise her even more and even her own tired expression lifts a bit as he carries over to her an offering. The simple gesture making the molly tremble with more emotions than she had the energy to handle.

"Thank you little one, that's very kind." The words are hard to expel from her tired tongue, there has not been much to be thankful for in her life so far. His following question surprises her a bit and she smiles warmly at him with her thin face and tired eyes.

"Share this mouse with me?" She'd offer, beckoning him to sit beside her if he would like to.

"Oh, that's the cat Tawnyclaw helped!" Hawkspine exclaims half to himself, his ears pricking forward as his attention settles upon Whitekit and the ginger stranger. She looks a little younger than him - a season or so, at a guess - and has seemed almost like she's been sleepwalking since arrival. Makes sense, considering how skinny and flea-bitten she'd been. Being saved by Tawnyclaw, also, is probably enough to make any cat faint (Hawkspine didn't know he knew how to get off his haunches and help someone, but wouldn't go so far as to say that out loud).

It's nice to see Whitekit take an interest in giving her a mouse, an earnest attempt at being helpful that makes Hawkspine's eyes narrow in a pleased squint. He pads over, giving the two space, and drops into a sit. His patrol isn't meant to leave for a while: he can spare some time to make a new friend. "I'm Hawkspine, one of the warriors here. What'd you say your name was?"

She collects names like badges- little things she commits to memory. She had a whole bank of those in the nursery in her mind already, some that had brought her back to camp. She did not get the dog's name, something she'd always be a hint lost over. Given the reaction to how she smelled before, she knew a 'dog' was meant to be a dangerous thing to these cats. Why did it save her, then? Place her in the paws of what the dog knew as a collection of cats?

A breath left her, washing the thoughts away as she collects more names. Hawkspine. Tawnyclaw. Eyes flick from that of the warrior, back towards the emancipated form lain upon the sun-warmed dirt before the medicine den. It smelt strongly in there, and given the events recently, Paladin had given that area wide berth. It seemed like a place for death, something she had almost met but didn't totally understand yet.

Whitekit- one of the first friendly peer faces she had seen upon entering camp- was quick to approach them. Perhaps 'quick' was the wrong word, she calculated. Coppery eyes faced that of the den curiously, watching the prey get lain between her paws, Whitekit's tone warm even from here, even if Paladin didn't understand what he was saying. She approaches on quiet paws, something that seem inherent to how she moved despite her bigger size. Eyes flicked towards Hawkspine, and she settled down just to the side of Whitekit, waiting Polynesia's answer. She wanted another name-badge.

The request to share the mouse came as a surprise to the pale furred tom, but he knew it would be rude to decline the invitation so he gave a nod of agreement. ”Of course!” Whitekit grinned widely before he settled in beside the she-cat rather comfortably. Though he made no move to tuck into the mouse, instead he looked to Polynesia expectantly as he waited for her to tear open the mouse first with her stronger jaws. When another warrior approached he made sure to smile in greeting. ”Hello Hawkspine.

A look of surprise dawned across his features when he saw Paladin coming over to join them, though he let his expression warmly swiftly after as he accepted the other kit to his side. ”Hey Paladin, are you hungry?” Maybe he should have brought another mouse or something over. Already he was growing tempted to ask Hawkspine to bring something bigger over instead.
