MAPPING OUT STARS // HP discussion

It was twilight, many cats were returning from final patrols, having their last piece of prey, or already tucked away in their nests. In Sootstar and by relation, Weaselclaw’s chambers the council of WindClan all sat down. Two voles had been plucked from the fresh-kill pile to share amongst themselves as they talked, it would serve as their final share of the day.

At last they have joined together to discuss the word of StarClan, the prophecy! What did their words mean?

”So… the prophecy… you have all been made aware by now, yes?” Sootstar certainly hopes so, and she hopes they’ve had time to ponder its meaning. Perhaps together they could crack the code. ”What are some of your interpretations? Vulturemask, you’re the medicine cat, I especially want to hear from you.” Expectant emerald eyes land on Vulturemask, but anyone was welcome to give their interpretation on the matter.

At first it had seemed strange to sit here without the words of Wolfsong to guide his thoughts. Throughout their lives, the smaller warrior had been a voice of reason and understanding. But as time wore on, Sunstride had found his own. With each pawstep, he found himself on footing more solid than the step before. He had a place here, away from the scars of history. This council had helped him understand, slowly yet with certainty, that he was not bound to who he was before. He feels nothing but gratitude for this perspective. Wolfsong finds his own place in WindClan, and outside of it. Did he not deserve a place of his own? Here, with these now-familiar faces.

It is an honor to be here amidst those she considers her most trusted, and Sunstride will repay that. Any claim of perfect loyalty would have been a lie, but now he knows he will try. And perhaps such a promise surpassed any blind loyalty to another. To think on one's shortcomings, and trust them nonetheless. To follow, even when it is difficult. Somewhere in his chest, something begins to momentarily sour. He looks at his vole with a quiet frown as he chews, but by the time that he passes it to Badgermoon with a gentle nudge of his paw, it has turned to contemplation. "I had assumed they spoke of Dandelion," he offers lowly, with a faint shrug. "He confessed to the crimes that StarClan warned you of, and the seasons will turn soon. It seemed straightforward to me." Nothing ever truly is, but I will not tell her so.

  • ooc:
  • SUNSTRIDE. named for his coloration and his bold chasing of fate.
—— cis male, uses he - him. thirty-four moons old. warrior of windclan and former rogue.
—— cautious of clan life, but an apt learner. encourages close bonds between clanmates.
—— loyalty uncertain, cares for those surrounding him. undoubtedly closest to wolfsong.

sunstride is broad and bold– a creature standing above most of windclan, though not a beast beyond its borders, with fur that flames red at its base and deepens to a burnt amber with every whorl and stripe. his eyes, in comparison, are a pale summer's blue, still as bold as the rest of him.
  • "speech"

Prophecies. Weaselclaw wonders if StarClan has a reason for the cryptic way they deliver their messages to the five Clans. He dares not question their warrior ancestors, but when Sootstar calls his council into her den, he sits and waits patiently for the admittedly more clever of them to begin dissecting it.

Sunstride voices the one thought the tabby had had -- that it had been about Dandelionwish. "I agree," he says, nodding towards the other lead warrior. "He's all but confessed to being a traitor -- him and all those other sorry excuses for cats. StarClan will bless us for ridding our Clan of him."

He bows his head, brow furrowing. "Although... wasn't that other prophecy about Dandelionwish? Why would StarClan send us two about him?" He shrugs. "We already knew he was poisoning WindClan..." Weaselclaw trails off. He's mixed himself up -- does he or doesn't he believe that this new prophecy was about Dandelionwish?

[ PENNED BY MARQUETTE ]

The broad-shouldered tomcat was glad to congregate with his Clanmates, particularly these Clanmates: he trusted them all, including Vulturemask, now that StarClan had given him their blessing. The matter of the prophecy was quite worrisome, really - even if it was a prophecy which seemed to foretell good things for WindClan, Badgermoon wasn't a huge fan of anything that he couldn't easily understand, truth be told. This was a little bit of a problem, as his knowledge of the world was more limited than he liked to admit. Fortunately his ... let us say, lack of intellectualism ... meant that these thoughts did not linger much in his mind, aside from peculiar circumstances such as these. The bicolor warrior was generally more preoccupied with concrete things: prey, the moor and the sky, the snarls in his pelt. The most abstract he preferred to get was along the lines of the concepts of "loyalty" or "love", and even then, he felt on thin ice.

Listen. He had never claimed to be the brightest bulb, had he?

Badgermoon hummed thoughtfully as the lead warriors gave their two cents, bowing his head to take a few quick, tearing mouthfuls of vole before nudging it to Weaselclaw. "Maybe the prophecy was about the warriors who supported him, not Dandelionwish himself?" it did seem strange that StarClan would send them two prophecies about the same cat, especially Sootstar had taken such decisive action after the first one. "Also, they sent this one specifically to Vulturemask, instead of to you, ma'am. Maybe that means something?" his bright eyes shifted toward their medicine cat, joining Sootstar in staring expectantly at him. I hope he can make sense of this. he thought to himself, eyeing the tom once known as Leechpaw. He's gotta have ... spiritual instincts ... or something, right? Why else would Sootstar and StarClan both choose him?

Silently Vulturemask had just been watching as the others in the council was talking and discussing about this prophecy while keeping his own opinions to himself. Everything they already had said was things he already had been thinking through. The thing was why would starclan give a prophecy over something that literally came true the next day?. Beside...he already knew the truth about the matter that starclan not had been displeased with Dandelionwish something he unfortunately had to keep to himself to avoid wrath to rain down on him. However it had not slipt his mind by the possibility that the prophecy might exactly have been about that. The confession Dandelionwish had made to him in the den, just the two of them. But was that really it?. What if so was he suppose to do with this knowledge that he clearly couldn't share with the rest of the council. Would starclan really be that cruel?.

Finally, once they all were finished speaking Vulturemask decided to share his own thoughts. " Maybe...everything you have said could be true. I've been thinking about it as well. But if that's the case why send a prophecy on such short notice?. They already had sent a vision to Sootstar about them, why send another one for?. Makes no sense to me and we are not even at new-leaf yet. which the prophecy states. When the trees sprout their leaves. My guess is that the prophecy has not happend yet, but it will come true at new-leaf and whatever the confession is gonna be about we should see it as a blessing to our clan. " [Either that or...starclan had been trying to tell him about the confession Dandelionwish told him that night before his escape but if so....he could never come forth with it. The prophecys knowledge would die alongside with him.

There was no way he could convince his clan that Sootstar had have wrong about her vision about their former medicine cat. It was a suicide mission and he refused to risk his life over it.
