-ˋˏ ༻☽༺ ˎˊ- Freshly fallen snow had coated the forest in the few days prior, painting the once lively and lush landscape monochromatic. Though some might find beauty in the snow, the crystallized blanket that danced and shimmered under the sunlight, Badgerpaw longed for the greens and browns of the woods once more. She missed the fauna, and the flowers of the undergrowth. The longer nights and cooler air had made her quieter than usual these moons, fatigued, and almost reclusive. She felt.. down, in an odd way. For a coddled kitten that never true knew sadness, the winter moons were as close as it gets.
The clouds had broken apart today, and StarClan has finally blessed the forest with some color against the dreary white. Underneath the bright blue sky, Badgerpaw made herself busy for once - eagerly taking her opportunity to go out into the forest, listen to a rare moment of birdsong, and rejoice underneath an open sky. By the time evening arrived, she ate her meal and shared tongues - but the thought of the impending night brought about that inexplicable gloominess once more. But just as she was about to retire to her den for the night, the long tree-shaped shadows underneath her made way for long streaks of orange. Badgerpaw turned around, and was greeted by the beginnings of the sunset.
Breathtaking was the only way she could describe it in that moment. The dark blues of the beginning of the night melting into pinks, purples, oranges, and finally into a fiery yellow at the heart of the sun. The colors blended and danced together in a perfect harmony - the snow underneath her paws suddenly didn't look so lifeless. But, as the sun fell further, the trees began to drown it out - no matter which way she paced around camp, she felt she was missing out on the perfect sunset. She wanted to see more, but..
Badgerpaw burst into the apprentice den, expecting to see her group of friends - but those who weren't asleep must have been out on patrol. Her heart began to sink as she scanned the crowd of snoozing apprentices, until finally her gaze fell upon a familiar chocolate and red blend - Tigerpaw was still awake. "Psst," she hissed out, as she crept through the den, dodging stray tails and paws left and right until she was almost nose-to-nose with Tigerpaw. "Thank StarClan you're awake! Will you come with me, please? Someone needs to see this! I.. I wanna show you something!" She didn't want to go alone on her journey to find a perfect spot to see the sunset - she wanted to share her joys with another. A sheepish grin crept across the chimera's face as she awaited Tigerpaw's response for only a brief moment, before bounding back out of the den.
