When Agatekit wakes up that morning, she doesn't feel... right. She doesn't want to play, doesn't want to look for something to take... She just doesn't want to anything, not even be.

Stonekit would never feel this way, would he? Stonekit would just persevere and go about things as normal, or come up with a plan to get rid of the feelings. But no matter how much Agatekit wants to, she isn't like Stonekit. Not at all. And the thought of that makes her feel worse.

"Do you not feel well today?" Mudfern asks, gently licking the fur atop her head. "Should I take you to see Starlingheart?"

"I feel fine," she lies, "Just don't wanna... play today."

Mudfern frowns at her, a look of worry in her gentle gaze as she looks at her daughter. "But you love to play..." The chocolate-furred molly wraps her tail around her, and Agatekit wants nothing more to just squirm away, to be left alone to sit with the thoughts that were running rampant in her head. "...Maybe you should go sit outside the nursery for a little bit. It might make you feel better."

The cinnamon and black kit lets out a sigh, flattening her ears and forcing herself to her paws. "Okay..." she mutters, slowly making her way to the entrance of the nursery and settling down just outside. She imagines it's a strange sight - the energetic, playful kitten who always follows her brother into mischief sitting solemnly outside the nursery, carrying the burden of heavy thoughts and a desire to just... not. And yet she imagines that some might be happy to see her like this, and she feels even worse.

Agatekit lets out a sigh, burying her face into her paws. Today is a bad day.

"Speech"

STEP FROM THE DARK TO THE LIGHT

Gigglekit knew what it was like to have bad days, and also to have the expectation thrust upon her to be as carefree as she always was, always; and her name was surely no help with that. But Gigglekit had learned from some of the older SHadowClanners that a few bad days weren't bad themselves, and that things changing could be a sign of good. She didn't know what had changed in her since the owl attack, but she liked to imagine it was only small, nothing that would ruin her smile. She watches curiously as Agatekit pulls herself outside, and after a moment, Gigglekit follows.

"Agatekit, Agatekit!" She called, bounding up to the other kit with a wide, genuine grin on her face. She didn't know why the other she-kit seemed to be so downtrodden, but she was going to get to the bottom of it if she had her way. "Are y'up for some mossball?"

Marblekit, too, knows what it's like to have bad days. The truth about Siltcloud has clung to her pelt like a miasma since she had been left in ShadowClan territory; now it hangs like swamp mud from her fur, heavy, burdensome. She is five moons now, on the precipice of a looming and daunting apprenticeship, and she feels she has largely left her mossball days behind her; the lightness in her paws has been replaced by something heavy, weighted. She watches Gigglekit approach a sullen-looking Agatekit on skipping paws, offering a game like it's a choice piece of prey.

She's trying. I should try, too. The tawny she-kit disembarks from where she sits, alone, and saunters closer on long, awkward legs. "If you don't want to play mossball, we could do something else," she offers, giving her cousin a small slip of a smile. After all, Gigglekit is different now, too, warier, gunshy.
