The battle was fevered. Brutal and spitting chaos, splitting WindClan in two. Were they even WindClan, anymore? For once, Featherpaw could not even pretend to know. Had he failed, unprepared for something like this? He was just as inexperienced as all of the other apprentices his age, just as uncertain. Rivepaw's fate could easily have been his own, marred by the claws of someone older, someone who knew the weakness of his youth.
Focus blurred. For once, Featherpaw did not want to be alone- but when she was with her family, all she could see was sadness and worry glazing their eyes. Talking to them reminded her of herself, made her wonder if everyone else saw that same turmoil in her. Hardening his scowl, he'd tried to rid himself of it... but that gleam of unspent tears, of sprawling-freeze fret, surely it would not melt away so easily.
Featherpaw's face did not bear annoyance- only steely contemplation. Shielded pondering. For a reason she could not pin down with brambly claws, she sought a sooty kitten-fluff coat, a rainstorm of a calico who he so often shooed away. It was stupid. But then, why did Pinkpaw always approach him? Everything seemed reasonless, and Featherpaw felt irrational.
He had seen her fighting. Having fought her himself, he worried, truly. And he did not need another cat to worry about. Yet... it stuck on her mind like a stain. "Did buh... B-Bluefrost hurt you?" Featherpaw's voice was low, and she didn't look at Pinkpaw as she said it, lowering herself to a seat at the other girl's side.
