Pink-kit spots a sad cat. A sad cat that reminded her of herself, but without the super cool eyes and pretty white fur and prettier smile. They were mopey, mopey, and that was no good! " Why're you so sad, sad cat? " Pink-kit does not do her questioning with the tones of a sweet kit, but rather, it is accusing! Because being sad was no good for anyone! Being sad was boring, and lame, and a million other bad words that Pink-kit wasn't even allowed to say! " Stop it right now! When you frown, it gives you frowny lines, and it makes you super sad. And that's super boring. You'll be the prettiest ever, if you smile. " She explains this very matter-of-factly, cause even though she was a kit and stuff... This is one of those things that Pink-kit knows for sure! She even flashes him her most award - winning, mouse - getting, show - stopping Pink-kit smile as an example, just in case he didn't know what it was like, or he was too sad to remember.

She wonders if being near the medicine cat den made you sad. Because Bearkit and Featherkit and the loud kit and the sputtery kit were near it all the time and they were all super sad. Maybe kits weren't allowed in the nursery because it makes you sad, and Wolfsong is totally breaking the rules...

  A tiny, longhaired calico she - kit with yellow eyes, ringed blue around her pupils (sectoral heterochromia). While you can clearly see her flame markings on her face, the rest of her body is currently covered by a grey fever - coating. Though the whites of her are still very much visible. Pink-kit bounces around WindClan without a care in the world! Her emotions are big, and she makes little effort to regulate them, resulting in both her usually cheerful disposition, as well as making her prone to sudden bouts of extreme anger or sadness. Rarely seen without a smile!

Days blurred into each other, the time between smudged, and Berryheart felt he could only stare. When he caught his perspective diving into pessimism he attempted to dredge it up again, only to watch as his reason lapped uselessly against his outstretched paw. The turmoil writhed behind his eyes, and he had felt as if he had done well to keep his grief under wraps; however, kittens could be more observant than warriors in some aspects. Or simply less tactful. Either way, Berryheart was only mildly surprised that the first cat to see through his weak facade of fine-ness was a very young Windclanner.

A heaving breath wound tendrils down his throat. What curved his lips was not quite a smile; twinging with sadness, he could not convince his face to move in such a way. Trying to heed her teachings, feeling the curve of his crooked jaw in a grimace he soon gave up. He didn't much care about being entertaining or pretty- all he concerned himself with was answering her question. Why are you so sad?

"My apprentice died." He did not soften the blow or bring himself down to her level. With kittens, he never did temper his language. They would get honeyed herbs in a way a warrior would not, but his words would not be sweetened. "Shouldn't I be sad about that?" No malice was buried in the flatness of his voice- it was level, solely and simply. Plain as could be, though interest lay burrowed within as to what she would say. ​

Offering Berryheart a dip of his helm, whether the medicine cat noticed, Oakfang shifted his attention to the rambunctious kit. To be pestered. The warrior wondered how Berryheart was doing since his apprentice’s death, tsking quietly. If only the journeying cats had left sooner, perhaps then they wouldn’t have lost as many as they did. To worry about the what-ifs. He didn’t have the time or care for it.

“Such bluntness.” He hummed. “Perhaps a game.” He offered the young kit. “I’m sure ‘sad cat’ would enjoy the quietness.” ​

My apprentice died. Pink-kit blinks at him. Shouldn't I be sad about that?

" Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... " Well, normally she'd say of course not, but dying was pretty serious, wasn't it? Or something? She doesn't totally get what dying is, so, " Umm, probably not!" Pink-kit give sa little pout while she thinks. Should he be sad?? When should anyone be sad? Being sad is stupid and boring! A warrior comes offer and offers to play a game with Pink-kit. She shakes her head. " I gotta remind sad cat what smiles look like! " She sits, committed to explaining her very smart thought process to the sad cat.

But first, " Ummmm, what's dying? What happens when you die? " Maybe that would give her, um, " context. " She knows when a cat dies they go away... How long do they go away for, though? And why would you be sad? She guesses... if you miss them very much. Pink-kit's never had someone to miss, but she has something to miss, she guesses. Even in this weirdo camp, though, she has her mom and her dad and allllll her siblings and friends! " Do you miss them like I miss WindClan?" The kit tilts her head
