camp Nature is weird || worm

He was restless. He was bored. He needed a distraction from his grief. From the reality of life.

It wasn't fair.

IT WASN'T FAIR. Starclan took his sister from him and it wasn't fair-

Hold on.

He saw something wiggle in the dirt. He must investigate. He hops over to the strange creature.

.......

It was.....a squiggle.

................

"WHAT ARE YOU WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE THAT!!!!!!!"

Starclan is cursing him!!! They were cursing him with this creature!!!!

Oh, woe upon him!!

"LITTLE HELLIONS, KIDS FEELIN' REBELLIOUS"

Wildpaw was wandering past with a mouse in his jaws destined for the occupants of the nursery when he took notice of Sparkkit and his pitiful wailing. A low grumble escaped the apprentice as he tried to ignore the youngster, but even he wasn't immune to the pull of one's sense of curiosity. With a groan, he diverted from his intended goal and made his way over to the kit. "What are you babbling about?" He huffed as he dropped the mouse. Looking down he then saw it... a worm. "Ew! Don't touch it, it'll make you sick!"

He knew that little thing was no good! It had suspicious written all over it. Look at it, just writhing there....causing problems on purpose.

At least Wildpaw was here to THWART ITS EVIL PLANS.

" I KNEW IT WAS BAD!! WE GOTTA...." His little brain had to think."WE GOTTA SEND IT INTO EXILE!!"

Yes. Exile. Begone, foul creature. Such wiggling was forbidden here! But the worm did not care for these laws..... It continued to squiggle. Sparkkit could not believe the audacity of this creature.

SPICEKIT
Spicekit was bored. Very, very, very bored. That was why, when she heard Sparkkit's enraged screech, she was acutely interested in seeing what exactly was up. Upon heading over and seeing the dirt-colored wriggle in the ground, a laugh of disgust and amusement escaped her. "Haha, ew! It looks all slimy, lemme see!"

Without a moment of hesitation, she poked a claw through its center and held it up, watching with awe and utter repulsion as it continued to wriggle and squirm, still alive despite having just been impaled. An oddly delighted squeal left her. "Ew, ew, it's still moving! You take it!"

Spicekit laughed, seemingly unaffected by its grossness (in fact, she seemed to thoroughly enjoy it) as she held the worm out towards Sparkkit.

( ) "Yeah, I caught a pretty big squirrel this morning over by the Great Sycamore. I'm thinking about heading out again this afternoon with Jaypaw if you want to tag along." she offered to an NPC, before the shouts and squeals of kits interrupted their conversation. Flamewhisker flicked an irritated ear as she spotted Wildpaw near the kits. She had heard form the other warriors about how he had went off on one of the kits a few days ago, and Sunfreckle nearly clawed him. It was no secret the young tom had a barbed tongue, so she decided to check out what was going on.

As she got closer, she spotted Spicekit dangling a worm from her claw. Flamewhisker let out a chuckle, and decided to go ahead and join them."You know, if you lay it out in the camp it may attract a bird."
( I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD ; YOU CAN BURY ME )

He was admittedly wary upon spotting Wildpaw approach his kit the moment Spark-kit sprang from the nursery to go nose about in his usually loud way, but the apprentice seemed to be fine for now; expressing an annoyance at whatever they had discovered rather than Spark-kit himself. His son was...interesting. Certainly took after Rabbitnose with his enthusiasm and general distraction to a much higher degree, he imagined as he got older he might calm down some and be less loud, but then again Rabbitnose hadn't and they were in their 20th moons roughly. Sunfreckle prayed to StarClan and hoped dearly his kits got patient mentors, they would need them.
Rising to stand from the mouth of the nursery den he wandered over with a smile, watched Spicekit join in and display the worm skewered on a tiny claw and wriggling defiantly; it was nice to see she was adjusting well alongside her siblings. He felt for the little family, truly.
The red tabby glanced over to offer Flamewhisker a smile as she joined them, her assumption that he'd nearly took a swing at an apprentice was correct and one he still carried shamefully. Despite his grief, it had been uncalled for.
"She's right, you know. Maybe you can bait a bird into camp to try pouncing on."

War weighin' on my heart but I can't fall
Curiosity piques his interest although it fails to register upon his face. "Must be a rather small bird." The ticked tabby interjects, calmly walking over to lay eyes upon the wiggling and writhing insect. As he comes to a stop, Silver tosses a glance in Sunfreckle's direction. "Where I come from the birds are just as large as a cat, if not bigger most of the time." It was not uncommon to see a hawk or eagle from the lands of his birth hunting in the sky. Everyone both equally respected and feared the predators. The tom's haunches lower to the ground where he opts to wrap his lengthy tail around ashen paws.

"Exile...?" Wildpaw's expression blanked for a second as he strained to process what Sparkkit had just said. "Weird kid...", he thought to himself. Though before he could deal with the worm it was then that Spicekit arrived and speared the poor thing. The sight made him gag in repulsion and he made a visible effort to back right up so he wouldn't accidentally get whacked by the wriggling creature. "You're fucking disgusting!"

Despite finding the idea of luring in birds with prey interesting he just couldn't get over the idea of letting kits play with a worm. "The only thing those two are gonna catch is a nasty disease." He grumbled as he stuck out his tongue and deepened his scowl.

There has been an attempted murder!! Spicekit impaled the foul beast, but it still lived. It wriggled on her claw and when she showed it to him he drew his head back.

"WHY ISNT IT DEAD-"

Flamewhisker came in with a brilliant idea. Yes. Lure a bird with this trespasser and catch it. The deal was sealed when Sunfreckle agreed.

Silverlightnings words were worrying though. But. You know? The bigger the bird, the more meat it had, right? Sparkkit didn't yet know what birds of prey were.

"IF THE BIRD IS BIG IT JUST MEANS MORE MEAT FOR US!!" He said.

Wildpaws words scared him a little though. Disease? Sickness killed his sister. He didn't want to catch diseases.

"But I don't wanna get sick........"

He was conflicted. Catch a sick ass bird with this worm and possibly get a disease, or send it into EXILE.

It was pretty clear his brain was working in overdrive.

SPICEKIT
"We can catch a bird!!" Spicekit's eyes lit up at the idea. She had artfully ignored Wildpaw's mention of disease for her own much cooler idea of what they should do. "And if we catch a big one then we'll have to be made apprentices immediately for being so cool!"

Just think, her being made an apprentice before both of her siblings! If those weren't some serious bragging rights, she didn't know what was!

"Birds eat worms all the time, and I've never gotten sick eating a bird before! Come on, let's do it!" She urged Sparkkit on without an ounce of fear in her voice, far too enraptured at the fantasy of being made apprentices earlier than everyone else to consider that maybe a bird wouldn't even show up for the worm in the first place. She was already looking around camp for an empty area to launch her (Flamewhisker's) plan.

If Sparkkit was too chicken to go through with it and she caught the bird all by herself, Spicekit decided that she'd still give him the credit, and then they could be early apprentices together! ... But she would still much rather him join her.
