SORRELSONG

♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ ♡

Snow crunching underpaw, Sorrelsong's marbled brown coat begins to pace an invisible line in the trees. Her maw opens to smell the air, lips curling a bit at the stench.
"This is our border with Thunder Clan," She states, forcing her tone to be friendly and warm. Not for her apprentices' sakes, but for any unexpected ears. There had been blood spilt on these borders and the last thing they needed was another fight. Though, they probably won't be here until green-leaf.
"It's good hunting ground, as long as we stay on our side. " She smiles at the -paw's, tail curling at her own half-joke. Sorrelsong had been in almost each battle, but failed to raise a claw every time. Words were her only weapons really, however unsubtle. She made a mental note to find someone to help her train the two apprentices to fight - Doeblaze might be a good choice. Or maybe even Florabreeze?
"They hunt using the undergrowth. Their trees aren't as sturdy as ours. " The fact had enamored her as an apprentice, though she didn't bring the answers as to why Sky Clan's trees were better then Thunder Clan's. Always the huntress, never the fighter she assumed their lack of being able to climb meant they never tasted bird - and for that she did feel a bit bad.
"Any questions? "

Stormywing crouches in the branches of a sturdy oak, her claws gripping the bark as she gazes down toward the border below. From her vantage point, she can see the SkyClan warrior, her dappled coat blending into the shadows of the pines, and two apprentices trailing behind her. The cat's voice carries faintly on the cold wind, softened by the crunch of snow underfoot. Her gaze flicks back, trying to find her own apprentices, but they're too hidden for even her to see from here. Her golden eyes narrow back on the SkyClanners. They're not crossing the border; still, the mere sight of them makes her fur prickle. She has no quarrel with this particular patrol, but SkyClan has caused ThunderClan plenty of grief in the past moons.

Her ears twitch as the warrior speaks. 'Their trees aren't as sturdy as ours.' The comment makes the blue tabby's lip curl. Her claws flex instinctively, but she stays where she is, hidden by the canopy. Not as sturdy? If that SkyClan cat thinks ThunderClan doesn't know their trees, she clearly hasn't been paying attention. Stormywing could climb circles around any SkyClan warrior if it came to it, she's sure of it! Her gaze then flicks to the apprentices and she lingers on them for a moment. Fresh-faced and eager, by the looks of them. Much younger than her own apprentices. I should make myself known, She thinks. SkyClan has a reputation for getting bold (or maybe it's just Slate and Figfeather she's thinking of), and the she-cat isn't about to let them forget whose forest they're walking alongside.

In a fluid movement, she leaps down from her perch, landing with a soft thud just on her side of the border. Snow scatters beneath her paws as she straightens, her tail high and her eyes sharp. "Well, well," She trills, her scratchy voice light. "Giving your little ones a tour of the border, are we?" She tips her head, studying the marbled she-cat. "Hope you're teaching them to stay on their side of it." Her claws slide out briefly, more for show than anything. She doesn't step forward, doesn't make any move to threaten - she's not trying to start trouble, after all. But Stormywing had learned long ago that it never hurt to remind the other clans that ThunderClan wouldn't be pushed around. "Trees too flimsy for you over here?" She adds, her tone deliberately casual. "Or are you just jealous we can hunt in the undergrowth and the trees?" It's not entirely true. Tree-climbing has always been her thing, and several other ThunderClanners are pretty skilled at it, too, but it would never be on the same level as her clan's stalking. Some ThunderClanners just…don't climb. The thought has always baffled her.

Much like Stormywing, Roaringsun also found himself among the trees, his paws much steadier than they'd once been; Hawkspine's was a terrific teacher, and he'd taken on a liking to climbing ever since the first lesson at Fourtrees. It was his turn to teach Berrypaw the basics of it and, if the young boy took an interest in it, he would gladly go further in the teachings. He is not as high as where Stormywing is, but he can see the Skyclanners approach from where he perches. Unlike the she-cat, he stays where he is after hearing the SkyClan warrior speak. "Hello, SkyClan!" He greets with the usual cheeriness, choosing to ignore Stormywing's obviously charged words. It's just a mentor with her apprentices, there's no need to be so hostile about it. . .

He stares at Berrypaw, and then at Stormywing's own apprentices — would they follow her lead, or would they avoid badgering their neighbors?

Mercurypaw's fur bristles as Sorrelsong's tone turns overly bright, her voice carrying across the border in a way that grates on their ears. It's not that Mercurypaw dislikes their mentor—well, not exactly—but they can't help but feel an edge of unease as the she-cat's words reach out into the cold air, brushing too close to ThunderClan's territory. The thought of the border sets their teeth on edge, an instinctive wariness bubbling up even before they catch the scent of ThunderClan on the icy wind. Their paws shift uneasily in the snow, ears flicking at Sorrelsong's question. Any questions? Mercurypaw almost blurts something out—maybe about the undergrowth, or why ThunderClan wouldn't take advantage of the trees regardless of how 'sturdy' they may be—but before they can form the words, the scent hits stronger. A prickling tension stiffens their limbs. They glance at Plumpaw, trying to judge the other apprentice's reaction, and then back at Sorrelsong. The marbled warrior's relaxed posture isn't exactly comforting.

The thud of paws landing on snow freezes Mercurypaw in place. Their amber eyes snap toward the border, where a ThunderClan warrior now stands, tail high and gaze sharp. The she-cat's voice cuts through the stillness, carrying an edge that makes Mercurypaw's fur fluff out instinctively. As the new arrival speaks, Mercurypaw's ears flatten, and a faint, defensive growl rises in their throat before they can stop it. Their claws flex against the snow, half-buried in the icy crust. They hate the way this ThunderClan warrior looks at them, like they're nothing more than kits playing in the woods. Her tone gets under their skin, and Mercurypaw fights the urge to snap back. They're not sure what they'd say, but the urge to spit something at Stormywing claws at their chest.

Mercurypaw shifts closer to Sorrelsong without thinking, their tail flicking sharply. The ThunderClan cat's casual tone feels more like a taunt, and Mercurypaw's instincts scream at them to say something, to defend their Clan. But what if they mess up? What if they say the wrong thing and make it worse? Their gaze darts to Plumpaw again, silently pleading for their denmate to do something—anything—to break the tension. Another voice calls out, cheerful and unbothered. Mercurypaw's head snaps up to see another ThunderClan cat perched higher in the trees. "Hello, SkyClan!" the tom says, his tone cutting through Stormywing's hostility like sunlight through the snow. For a moment, the tension eases, and Mercurypaw feels the faintest flicker of relief.

But it doesn't last. Mercurypaw glares back at Stormywing, their annoyance simmering just beneath the surface. They glance up at Sorrelsong, waiting for their mentor to respond, their tail lashing behind them. It's all Mercurypaw can do to keep their mouth shut and their claws in check. They might not know exactly what to say, but the boiling irritation in their chest won't let them stand silent.

SORRELSONG

♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ ♡

Her ear flicks, her eyes alight with annoyance as a cat reeking of Thunder Clan drops from the sky, speaking so harshly that Sorrelsong has to close her eyes to avoid the spittle created by the cat. Hello to you too,
The mollys barbed voicemail grates against Sorrelsongs ears, ripping the wrong way through her pelt. As much as the molly doesn't want to start anything - this cat would make it so damn easy They were to bold. To brash. Her anger to visible. Sorrelsong was similarly unsubtle and vulnerable by nature, but at least she knew that when she tried to start trouble. She at least tried to be subtle.
She shifts, signing as she eyes the cat. Maybe this one knew how to climb, but her clan did not, no matter her complaining otherwise. She would've been a decent sky clan warrior had she been lucky enough to join during Blazestars lead. to bad.
" Hope you're teaching them to stay on their side of it." The tree-climber spat, all confidence and points.
"Mhm, better than Racconstripe did, if I recall." Sorrelsong replies with a smile that reaches her eyes. Her body relaxed, her voice casual. Normally she wouldn't take the bait but being kind got you nothing in Sky Clan, this she was starting to learn. This was the experience she would grant her apprentices. To not take the bait overtly, to stand up for themselves, and to be smart if violence occurs. She knew the trees behind her. She knew her -paws could make a run for it if need be, not that this needed to devolve to it.
"Hello!" She calls to the friendlier Tom in the trees. Slightly taken aback. "Apologies, I didn't know you knew to climb! " she now talks to both warriors her tone warm as she moves to better position herself in front of both apprentices.
"Perhaps we could trade skills next gathering! "
