//Continues from this thread Tagging @edenberry ?! and @FIGFEATHER just in case, no need to wait

Snowy was exhausted by the time the patrol reached the camp and he found himself groaning as his paws pulsed painfully from the walk across the uneven forest floor. It was a far cry from the plush carpets he had grown up knowing and from having everything he needed in close proximity to him at all times. His young mind had hoped to see some form of cosy stone twoleg den, but he was left disappointed by the sight of the hollow that the clan called home. It was a bitter smack in the face as he was made to accept how different life was going to be.

Nervously he looked round himself with wide blue eyes as he watched the other cats going about their business. "So many cats..." He whispered in awe as he tried to hide himself within the patrol who had brought him to the camp, though with his stark white fur it was hard to evade attention.

However, as he cast another look at the camp he came to notice other young cats. He recalled Edenberry talking about there being others close to his age, and it seemed that they had been telling the truth. At least he might have someone to play with... if they let him stay.

Figfeather leads the way and pushes through the gorse tunnel. The patrol behind her spills out with Snowy remaining near the paws of Edenberry. As the kit verbalizes his surprise for the amount of cats in camp she does a swift scan around for the white and orange splotched pelt of her leader.

”Take the kit to the nursery to meet @butterflytuft .” She instructs, stepping aside to allow Edenberry passage. ”I’ll go find @Orangestar .” It was only her who could decide what they did but Figfeather imagines she’ll present the kit with a choice. She hobbles off with a lash of her tail to dismiss the rest of the of the patrol.

Reactions: Orangestar

The arrival of new cats to camp is not unusual. SkyClan frequently receives curious rogues and kittypets along their borders, some passing by innocently, others were genuinely interested in joining. It was not often that kits were found, or at least not recently, and Howlfire's brows raised in surprise as Edenberry and Figfeather returned with a small, unfamiliar kit in tow.

Figfeather disappears to find Orangestar, whereas Eden berry was instructed to take the kit to the nursery. Howlfire would turn to Eden berry as she took the new kit to the nursery asking, "Where did you find them?"

They try their best to stick close to Snowy, who clings near their ankles like they might just vanish without a trace if he so much as blinked for too long. It's a painful consideration, how much fear can find a warm home in a little body... but he was safe now and like Figfeather, didn't imagine for even a moment that Orangestar would cast him back into the wilderness to fend for himself. It wasn't like the stark kit had any other options... no parents to cling to and hardly the age Edenberry had been when they'd first begun their training as an apprentice. (Luckily, things had changed... he'd be given time to settle and grow a bit more first.)

His breathless observation about the bustling camp is enough to pull them from their thoughts, fern-green eyes glancing towards him before following the wide-eyed stare towards the approaching figure of Howlfire. "Hey Howlfire," they mew, ears swiveling forward to listen for the question that formed on her lips quite readily. "Mmm... near the Twolegplace..." They grow uncomfortable to admit the harsh circumstances, hungry to lie suddenly despite the man witnesses that could refute them- they don't. "Twoleg left him by the border... I don't think they're coming back."

Satisfied with their answer, the two-toned cat glances back towards their tiny friend, "Here... let's go say hi to Butterflytuft.... Her daughter Budkit is just a little smaller than you... and maybe Oleanderkit will say hi. We can wait for Orangestar there." They touch their nose to his shoulder to grab his attention before skirting past the brown-patched warrior to guide him towards the nursery, hoping to catch sight of the tortoiseshell queen before her excitable child could get ahead of them- "Butterflytuft... It's Edenberry- I wanted to introduce you to a small friend..."

I wanted to introduce you to a small friend.

At the sound of pawsteps and the warrior's soft voice, Birchkit lifts her attention away from @Oleanderkit , whom she had been pestering about some outlandish story about fantastical creatures and the whimsical world in which they reigned. " Small friend? " she echoes, despite the introduction being aimed at someone more calm and formal for the new face. He exchanges a glance at his sibling, with his mouth in the shape of a shocked and excited 'o'. A new friend for Butterflytuft is a new friend for Birchkit, too!

Seemingly forgetting all about her little story, the vibrantly striped kitten trots over to where Edenberry and Butterflytuft speak, sneaking curious glances between the warrior's paws at the little creature that hides behind. " Hello! Are you shy? " he chirps, raising his tail with a curled tip. It's a wonder he's able to contain his excitement at all, and refrain from pouncing the newcomer with glee; Birchkit is strangely calm, perhaps in remembrance that he, too, came to the Clan scared and shy once, only a mere moon or so ago.

// mentioning @budkit

Butterflytuft lifts her head from grooming Budkit, eyes softening at the sight of Edenberry leading a small white kit into the nursery. Her ears twitch as she takes in her friend's explanation, and she glances briefly at the kit, noting his nervous stance and wide eyes. The camp must be so overwhelming to him...she remembers it was for her, too. Her heart goes out to him immediately. "What's his story?" She murmurs softly, her question only for Edenberry as she looks up at them.

But then she looks back at the kit, and she keeps her voice low and soothing as she purrs, "Hello there. I'm Butterflytuft, and this is Budkit." She motions with her nose to the seal point between her paws. "And that is Birchkit," She adds with a small chuckle, her tail flicking to the colorful kit who is practically vibrating with curiosity. "You're safe here, little one." The tortoiseshell steps forward cautiously, giving the kit enough space to retreat if he feels overwhelmed. "This is the nursery, where all of the kits and queens stay. It's a cozy place for you to rest." She nods to her nest, filled with soft moss, pine needles, and feathers. "Take my nest if you need it." She doesn't know the full situation yet, like if Orangestar even knows he's here, but she will certainly make him his own nest if needed. But the poor scrap looks like he needs a good nap, and her nest is the quickest option for that to happen.

Her warm gaze shifts to Edenberry for a moment, gratitude shining in her eyes for bringing the kitten here safely. Then, she turns her attention back to the kit and gives him a reassuring smile.

Snowy folded his ears lower as Howlfire approached and he stared at her with an air of uncertainty and curiosity. A single ear twitched as he listened to the words being exchanged; the inquiry about where he had come from, and Edenberry's explanation. They had put things gently given the reality of the matter; Snowy had been left to die by the one twoleg who had meant to raise and protect him. Honestly Snowy didn't know why he had been abandoned in the first place, whenever the other kits left it was usually when other twolegs came to the home to take them. He doubted they were left in the wild in boxes.

The young tom's gaze became distant as he stared at nothing in particular as he clung to Edenberry's side until rattled from his inner thoughts by them talking about going to see Butterflytuft. "Their names are so strange..." There had to be a reason for it, maybe he could ask about it later. For now he simply nodded his head as he plodded along after the older cat, his paws throbbing with every new step he took.

It took a moment for his eyes to adjust as he entered the darker confines of the nursery, but he was pleasantly surprised to feel an air of warmth coming from the small area. Before he could fully process his latest surroundings there came a gleeful voice from another kit. Snowy stood frozen in place with his mouth agape as he stared at Birchkit, mesmerized by his pelt colours and patterns. He had never seen anything like it before! Though he did come from a household of pure whites... "Um... hello." He decided not to confess to being quite shy, though it was probably obvious enough that he was.

It's then that he's greeted by Butterflytuft, and again he finds himself gawking with his mouth slightly open as he loses himself in her pelt's beautiful colours and patterns. He wanted to touch it. Thankfully his sense of manners kept him steady with his paws planted firmly on the ground, and he managed to avoid slinking back when the queen drew closer. "I-I'm Snowy." The kit managed to squeak out his name with a brief yet nervous smile. The invitation to find rest in the available nest was too alluring to ignore, he was worn out and he just wanted to be off his paws. Keeping his body low, he slunk past Butterflytuft in a submissive manner before slipping into the warm and odd smelling bedding. It wasn't as soft as the plush blankets he had grown up knowing but it was still rather pleasant all the same. The youth's blue gaze drifted back to Edenberry and it became somewhat pleading as he tapped the space next to him with his tail. "Are you staying?"

Oleanderkit is trying not to fall asleep to Birchkit's story. It's not like it's boring, but her interest really lies in the personal relationships between characters, and Birchkit's story seems like spectacle for spectacle's sake. She hides the small amount of pride she feels for being a touch more discerning than her sibling. But thankfully, fate has blown in a new scrap to play with, and the story is forgotten as the kittens exchange glances.

She remains in her nursery nest, interested in the stranger certainly, but reluctant to remove herself from the warm downy feathers and moss she is curled up in. Birchkit goes to meet him, and then comes back, and everyone is exchanging their greetings and Oleanderkit watches Snowy like a hawk. What had happened? She decides not to ask, considering the reprimanding she'd received for inquiring into Foxglovepaw's past. He doesn't answer her sister's question, so Oleanderkit presses again, "are you shy?" But Snowy grows distracted by the warriors that have guided him in here, and seems to forget the question.

When he asks Edenberry about staying, though, Oleanderkit grows eager at the opportunity to share her knowledge. "Edenberry can't stay, because they're a warrior," she chirps, very helpful. Orangestar should really promote her already. She would be a great asset to her council. "And warriors don't stay in the nursery. So now you have Butterflytuft and Budkit and me — I'm Oleanderkit — and Birchkit and Mercurykit and Oddgleam to hang out with." She flashes the fresh meat a winning smile. "Isn't that great?"

Edenberry graciously turned to answer her question. The kit had been found by the twolegplace, she explained, abandoned by a twoleg that was unlikely to come back. Howlfire shook her head, quietly annoyed at the disrespect the twoleg had shown to one so young. "Poor thing..." She murmured quietly, looking at the kit who's ear twitched, indicating that they were listening to the chatter around them.

Satisfied her curiosity had been met, Howlfire stepped asied, allowing Edenberry to take the young kit to the nursery where the queens and kits awaited inside. At least there, they would get the care and attention that had been deprived from them by a callous twoleg.

Oleanderkit might as well have been speaking an entirely different language given the severe lack of understanding that Snowy possessed over what she had just said to him. What the heck was a 'warrior', and why did that matter in regards to who could go where? He wanted Edenberry to stay, so why should that be a problem? Snowy's nose visibly wrinkled as his thoughts whirled over it all, though he wasn't exactly graced with time to think given that Oleanderkit was still talking. So many names to remember, and all of them still strange. Though he did begin to suss that all the youngsters had a '-kit' suffix to them, which then in turn made him think about his own name. Would he get a weird name like that?

"I-I guess...?" Uncertainty laced his tone as he offered Oleanderkit a nervous smile. He supposed it was great, at least in comparison to the alternative. But yet he still found his gaze drifting back towards Edenberry. He still longed for them to stay, at least for a little while. But given how confident Oleanderkit had been with her explanation he slowly started to lose hope. "This is a lot." He remarked quietly as he rested his head on the edge of the nest.

Budkit pops up from where she had been prone on the nursery floor; subjected to the grooming of her mother despite there being barely any sticky debris in the kitten’s fur. And what if she wanted it stuck in her fur? If older cats could have accessories then so could Budkit!

The seal point is grateful for the distraction Snowy provides, scampering a few paces away from Butterflytuft before swiping a mittened paw over her face, messing up the meticulously groomed fur and giving herself a more spiky appearance. “Hello, my name is Budkit!” She proclaims despite already having her mother and the others introduce her. She was a big girl who could introduce herself after all - three whole moons!

But that seems to be where her excitement ends as the older cats begin to converse. Snowy is allowed time to rest in her mother’s nest (and by extension Budkit’s nest) which is a very nice offer from a grownups perspective but to Budkit… well, her concerned expression says it all. She’s never had to share before, especially something as important and intimate as the nest she shares with her mother. Oceanic blues glance at Snowy, then to Edenberry, and then to Butterflytuft. “Maybe Edenberry can stay and make dat kid his own nest? Warriors can do that, right?” Budkit asks with a subtle whine. A yucky feeling bubbles up in her belly - jealousy. This isn’t as great as Oleanderkit made it sound.

He is terribly cute... curled up in the indent that Butterflytuft's warmth had left behind. Sleepy and probably eager for some kind of normalcy... They smile at him, sympathetic and tortured all at once. Butterflytuft prompts them for his story and they cast her a small pinch of their brows in a sign of dismayed foreshadowing. "He was a kittypet..." They let out a drawn out sigh, "Was being the key word...." They'd be willing to hash out the specifics when he wasn't still awake, staring at the adults around him with wide eyes.

The harmless question that begs them to stay drags like flames through their chest... innocent and painful. "I..." They don't get far enough to offer more than that before Oleanderkit is loudly proclaiming the fact that their duties lie elsewhere. Whatever part of them is relieved leaves the rest to feel equal amounts of guilt. It seems Budkit is none too fond of the suggestion either, as she pipes up about making Snowy his own nest. Maybe the little she-kit would be even more unhappy with the black and white cat's intrusion.

"Uhm... uh yeah. I could stay for a little bit... and help make a new nest so everyone is comfy," they offer, trying to appeal to the many demands of the kittens- (it was overwhelming in its familiarity, it make them itch with anxiety.) Their vision shifts towards the tortoiseshell queen as if she might be able to save them- as if she'd know they needed rescuing from this circumstance.

"I promise I'll come back," they add to the nervy new addition, "I don't sleep in this den usually but I try to come play... and bring food..."

"What happened?"

Outside of the den, Orangestar faces Figfeather with a small frown set upon scarred maw. She gestures for Edenberry to pause as they pass, intending that the green-eyed daylighter would join their aside. She had left her den at the lead warrior's insistence, crossing camp at a quick hobble. A new kit, found near the Twoplegplace border, alone and taken in by the patrol.

She's stopped in view of the newest addition to the camp, a stoic figure stood just beyond the nursery with rounded kit-belly and torn ears. Perhaps one of his new denmates would fill him in on who she was; but Orangestar would likely pay a visit regardless. Glancing past the ferns, she catches sight of the blue-eyed tom, giving him a quick look down and up for visible injury before returning her attention to the two warriors in front of her. "We can spare the prey. Does he need to be attended by the medicine cats?"

Fireflyglow hears of the arrival of a kit, though its story is lost on him as he ambles over on hefty paws. In his jaws are a few basic herbs just in case he needed them, but Orangestar's question about needing a medicine cat is met with a soft grunt from the large tom. "It would be wise to bring kits to me to be checked out before they're exposed to the nursery, just in case." He murmurs low enough for the adults to hear, blind blue eyes flicking over to the leader to make sure she heard him. He couldn't risk illness or disease spreading to the kits or queens in the nursery, after all.

His gaze soon flutters over to the direction of Oleanderkit's voice. "Snowy, did I hear that right?" Fireflyglow hums out thoughtfully. "My name is Fireflyglow, I'm.. a healer. If you don't mind, I'd like to give you a little checkup. Is that okay, youngling?" He asks in a low tone, deep voice reverberating in his chest. He closes his eyes then, not wanting to scare the poor thing with his ghostly blues.

Snowy turned his head to look at Budkit, finally able to put a name to a face. Though he remained quiet as he tried to recover even the barest slither of energy as he watched Edenberry intently, almost as if fearing that if he looked away they would disappear forever. Though it became clear that he would lose them soon, at least for a little while. He was a big kit, he had to accept that not everyone could stay by his side. Though it didn’t ease his anxiety at that moment, as much as he tried to hide it.

“Okay… you really promise?” Snowy liked to hope that Edenberry would keep to the promise, he really needed the reassurance. Before he could speak any further more cats entered the nursery and it caused Snowy to retreat back from the edge of the nest. The sight of Fireflyglow especially has him bristling as he tenses up amongst the bedding. It was with immense reluctance that he remained rooted to the spot whilst giving a reply to the healer. “Y-yes… is it going to hurt?” He certainly hoped not, but with his body still achy from being thrown about he certainly wasn’t keen on having paws on him.
