Misty leaf-fall morning settled within the cast shadows of Thunderclan's oaken forest, like it rested sternly and squarely along the jagged earth, its purls rising up with the invisible sun. With a new day rolling over, a leaden burden draped along the defeated's shoulders. Thunderclan had lost part of their territory, a much needed necessity in trying times, but the apprentice had lost something far greater. Slumber would not absolve her of what had happened, would not rub her eyes so tenderly and allow her to escape this. Grief would not find her yet, not when the memories lived so vividly just behind golden-petal gaze. Merlinpaw found herself just outside of the camp grounds, the leftover gloom of the deep night still reflected gauntly upon her countenance, haunted and never holy. Crown dipped to tilt to the ground, as if in reverence, though no prayer fluttered from pursed lips. How could she pray to Starclan when they had taken away her father so dear to her? Ears instinctively twitched as she heard the shuffling of foliage, that familiar song signaling an unwanted presence in her solitude. Her attention turned towards Basilpaw's sand-hued pelt, and only an inkling of emotion pooled within the meager light of her eyes. "B-Basil..." Merlinpaw murmured to her brother, her voice a mere loose twine amongst the sheer quietude of the dawn. I'm sorry for yelling at you. I'm sorry I wasn't there with you. I'm sorry for everything. There were so many apologies that took root upon her tongue, weighed her words down until they would bloom violently from her maw - but they did not come forth.

( RLLY SORRY FOR THE WAIT LIFE HAS BEEN EVIL AND BUSY this is meant to take place after the sunningrocks battle >:} @BASILPAW! )
