pafp NO WITNESSES ♡ missing (100th)

The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky with pleasant oranges and purples as the moon began to rise on the other side. The buzzing activity in WindClan's camp was beginning to wane as some shared tongues, and some prepared to retire to their nests for the night. Everything was as it should be, as it was on any average day - except there was one cat missing.

Slateheart was a cat that you might miss if you blink. While he wasn't as opposed to conversation as he once was, he was still a lone wolf at heart, and he was commonly assumed to be out on his own if he wasn't around in camp. This morning, as the sun rose. he did exactly that; he was going out for a walk, to scour the burnt earth for prey and hopefully come home with his bounty. The lack of such a quiet, ghostly presence might not be caught by most eyes, but if one was keen and close enough to the black-furred tom, they'd know by now that his overstayed outing was unusual.

No cat's hunt would take an entire day, even for someone as come-and-go as Slateheart. But his nest remains empty tonight.. so, where is he?

please wait for @SNOWGLARE !

જ➶ The day has come and gone with ease and he finds himself within his nest, cleaning his chest of nameless debris. Many things have been on his mind but he is happy enough. There is a wonder though at a certain feline he has not seen at least all of the day. The idea sparks him to move and he leaves his nest. Pink stained eyes look around the camp before his gaze turns troubled. Parting his jaws then he takes on the scents around him and Slateheart's takes him towards the entrance of camp. Stronger going out and nothing of note coming on. Odd. Did he never come back. Whipping around he looks for some cats. "Dimmingsun, Scorchstreak...Slateheart hasn't beem back in a good while. I think we should look for him." Anyone else is free to come but he figures notifying the deputy and a friend is necessary before he takes off through the entrance of camp.

The scent leads him down towards Outlook Rock where he sniffs around and it keeps going. Passing near Fourtrees. Just where did Slateheart go and is he okay?

༄༄ The newly-appointed deputy feels as though she’s been running herself ragged trying to keep up with all of the dangerous forces facing their clan. The moorland is only just recovering from its charred grasses, the prey only just beginning to return, and with Sunstar still not in top shape, the bulk of leadership duties have fallen to her. She is tired, but even as the day ends she still cannot rest, it seems. Snowglare calls her name, and announces that he hasn’t seen Slateheart in a while. The calico flicks an ear, questioning, "How long has it been since he was last seen?" A few hours is not of great concern, but if it has been all day, then it is something that should be looked into immediately. If he has been gone for too long, then we should begin our search now. They will need to figure out whether the tom is truly missing, and formulate a plan to search for him if no one else has spotted him recently.

She scoffs as Snowglare continues on his way out of camp without further comment, having half a mind not to follow after the tom. Being undermined has never sat well with her, even now—and especially not from such a flippant tom. Although a part of her wants to refuse to follow, she cannot abandon her own responsibility out of mere irritation. So with a fiery glare trained on the back of the pale tom’s head, the deputy trails behind him as he leaves the camp and heads for Outlook Rock.

Before long, the tom has made his way to the border of the territory, and Slateheart’s scent passes close to Fourtrees. "He may have left the territory for some reason," she states in a low voice, dappled tail lashing behind her. If he has truly crossed over the border, then there are few places he could have gone. To one of the bordering clans, perhaps? Into the gorge and over the falls? He could have met his end on the nearby path of black asphalt, in the same way Briarstar and so many others had. None of these are a good outcome, necessarily, but to find a loyal warrior dead is better than to find a traitorous warrior in another clan.

──ᨒ↟↟ᨒ↟ᨒ↟↟ᨒ── Slateheart is nothing like Lynxtooth, whom Wolfsong had always eyed carefully. He was just on the side of too sharp and jagged that a younger Wolfsong was convinced there might be some wrongdoing in his personal life, or potentially even against the clan. He had also worried that Lynxtooth might pass his traits onto Slateheart and Gravelsnap, but it was clearly needless— the tom has proven to be kind and a welcome sight in camp.

But, as Snowglare informs Scorchstreak and Dimmingsun, he has not been in camp for a concerning amount of time. The pale feline does not waste a moment setting out, and Wolfsong is close behind with a deep frown. Has Slateheart been injured? Taken by twolegs? Assaulted by a RiverClanner? If he is injured, it is best Wolfsong is present to treat him as quickly as possible. Perhaps he is simply struggling to breathe. Except the scent leads quite suspiciously to the path for Fourtrees, and he glances at Scorchstreak. "Has he...spoken at length with another clan cat at Gatherings?"

WOLFSONG of WINDCLAN FORMER ROGUE TURNED MEDICINE CAT. 42 MOONS, HE/HIM, NPC X NPC. MATES WITH SUNSTAR (07/05/2023). BIOGRAPHY, PINTEREST, & PLAYLIST.
  • ★★★☆☆ WOUNDS: You're (mostly) in safe paws. You'll know if he's less experienced if he asks for your permission to try a treatment. No wound can scare him away from knowledge.
★★★☆☆ INFECTION: He can prevent most infections. If you feel feverish, let him know; he'll hum thoughtfully over herbs and sniff your wound before saying, "With your blessing..."
  • ★☆☆☆☆ ACHES & PAINS: If you complain to him of pain, he'll ask where. If it's a headache, you'll likely feel a bit better. For anything else, "Try this, if you'd like, and tell me how you feel."
★☆☆☆☆ BROKEN BONES: At best. he can ask you to remain lying down in the den. He may try to distract you with conversation while he considers what herb to feed you.
  • ★★★★★ TRAVELING HERBS: Going somewhere? No worries; Wolfsong knows just what you need to stay hale and healthy during your journey. The rest is up to you.
★★★☆☆ KITTING: Thanks to Starlingheart and his own pregnancy, he's better prepared for the arrival of kits, but any complications will need a little faith and a lot of luck.
  • ★☆☆☆☆ POISONS: It's best if you avoid eating anything unfamiliar to you— it's probably just as unfamiliar to Wolfsong. The best he can do is offer you yarrow and sit with you.
★★☆☆☆ ILLNESS: If it's white or greencough, you'll likely recover. Otherwise, prepare for odd concoctions and the usual request that you consent to a little trial-and-error.

Discomfort finds Dimmingsun today, deep and unrelenting. He knows Slateheart; a warrior all but carried by the wind, here one moment then gone the next, always returning home sooner or later. Guilt had pierced his heart like a thorn, but Dimmingsun likes to think he handled it well and shot down all the foolish things Slateheart's mind threw at him. Clanmates help one another — and friends do anything for each other. It's only natural that Dimmingsun had looked for him and threw all caution out the window as soon as the situation presented itself to him.

Now, Slateheart is gone again. It's Snowglare who takes the herculean task of admitting reality up on himself. If it wasn't for him, Dimmingsun would have probably spent the night with wide-awake eyes, waiting restlessly for his friend to come back.

I think we should look for him, Snowglare suggests. Doing anything other than that is out of the question for Dimmingsun, and he's on his feet faster than the thought even occurs to him.

He doesn't slow down even as Scorchstreak makes her distaste apparent; Snowglare is on his way before anyone could tell him no, effectively undermining the deputy, but she comes with them without a word about it. Perhaps she'd tear him to shreds with her gaze when this is settled... although it looks like she already has that on her mind.

"I can follow him," he says, immediately answering Scorchstreak's theory. They will all probably say no, especially with Wolfsong here; there are countless dangers to be had outside Clan borders. Just why had Slateheart left? He might have gotten into trouble, but there are no signs of struggle or even a hint of blood or lost tuft of fur here... he must have left on his own accord.
