Jasperglare was on the road to recovery, but he hadn't left the badger set yet. He still had no energy, no strength. He didn't even have the will to live at the moment.

He sat outside the den with a hollow look in his eyes and his characteristic smile was completely gone. He forgot how long it had been since he had been put here. He could only think about how cursed he was, to have everyone he grows close to die or leave in some way. His mother, killed by illness. His little brothers, who he had to give away. His kits, killed by coyotes. And now, the various cats he shared this den with that had died in misery.

He trembled, thinking about it. Was he alive just to suffer? Had he done something wrong? Would he ever attain happiness and be able to keep it?

He was snapped out of his downwards by the sound of someone approaching. He lifted his gaze to see Dandelionwish and his.... Apprentice? On the way.

He hadn't been the best to the former medicine cat, and yet he still treated him despite it. And with Dandelionwish leaving soon..... He better apologize while he has the chance.

"Hello again....." He greeted, voice broken from lack of use. "I assume you're here for checkups..... Or something like that."

He was vaguely aware of what happened, maybe he'd feel differently if he were there. But he was acutely familiar with how it feels to lose everything he had ever known and to be cast aside.

@Dandelionwish

The badgerset cats had been given their medicine courtesy of Vulturemask after only a little instruction on his part, once you understood which plant did which it was a simple matter of just getting the patient to eat it or have it applied depending on the purpose. He was only out here not to ensure it was working, the several empty nests surrounding the remaining cats made his heart ache and even with the extra catmint the dark tom had found it was not enough to save them all; this leaf-bare had shown it did not approve of WindClan but he knew it was pointless to try and push this ideal. They would follow Sootstar to the grave or go before her and she'd not weep a tear for a single soul. Dandelionwish gave a quiet sigh, mismatched eyes glancing back to his guard with a brief narrow before he moved and neatly pushed his paw against Jasperglare's nose in one swift poke of an action.
"Ye seem to be doin a fair bit better, ye ex-rogues are hardy." Of the rogues who got sick they had all seemingly recovered already, as far as he could tell; if they weren't hacking up lungs in the camp then he'd not notice them aside.
"But ye, check-up for you lot after the medicine." Dandelionwish glanced out across the moors behind him wistfully once before turning back into the sour-scented den the ill cats had called home these past few moons.
The thought occurred to him that he could easily outrun @TIGERFROST and it would not even be a struggle. He was long legged, looked like a proper WindClanner and moved just as swiftly; he'd chased rabbits for so long before-while not as experienced as the older warriors he made up for the lack in skill with stamina. But knowing these he did not move an inch.

Some of the rogues could be quite massive, as opposed to the WindClan cats that were born and raised. Tigerfrost had always prided himself for his long legged frame, but compared to the height of some of the newer members, he found himself feeling so very small in comparison. At first, he had been hesitant to accept the rogues. Would they even be able to catch rabbits? But many had since proved themselves loyal warriors of the clan, adopting WindClan's way and code, and so the chimera could respect them for that. It was this reason that his eyes do not immediately narrow upon finding Jasperglare. No, his features are decidedly neutral as he pads alongside the former medicine cat.

"Good to see that you're recovering." Gruffly spoken as always, but there is no hostility there as he addresses the former rogue. Of course, the sleek figure-d tabby does take note of the glare that Dandelionwish sends his way. Tigerfrost merely responds with one of his own. "If only other WindClanners were so lucky." Disappointment mars his tone. So many had died over SkyClan's cruelty, senseless deaths. And now, to know that their former medicine cat had been a traitor, Tigerfrost can't help but wonder if Dandelionwish had been in on the whole thing. It was a foolish thought, given how distraught the other had seemed, but still it crosses his mind, and the tall tom's eyes flash with brief fury.

He tried to offer a small smile, but he just couldn't manage it. He had no reason to smile. He saw the glare between the two and hoped no conflict would arise. He wouldn't be able to deal with it regardless of who's side he chooses. A smack from either of them would knock him over.

Speaking of physical contact he wasn't ready for.

He had been BOOPED.

Life briefly returned to his eyes as he looked at Dandelionwish in surprise. He even managed to muster a brief chuckle.

"I guess living in harsh conditions can do that to you... Or I'm just stubborn." He said. He glanced to Tigerfrost. "Thanks....Though sometimes I wish I could trade places with someone else who deserves it more." He said. It was no secret that he was kind of an asshole. The cats he was in here with... Some were too sweet to die.

He returned the boop, gently placing his paw on Dandelionwish's nose.

A realization struck him then, possibly due to his fragile state of mind. One that he didn't understand why it hurt.

The medicine cat before him was the same age his kits would have been.

He tried to push the feelings down. He wasn't in the mood to have another breakdown.

"Things have been.... Steadily getting better." He said. " But Tigerfrost is right.. if only some of us had been more lucky." He added, closing his eyes.

He couldn't get the faces of the dead out of his mind.

He opened them again, and set his gaze on Dandelionwish. "I wanted to apologize....For how I treated you before. It was stupid." He said.

He didn't consider himself out of the woods yet. He could still die out here.

Coalfoot couldn't help but almost feel guilty for his gradual recovery. He could finally breathe again, and while he was still coughing, it was far less than he had been not too long ago. The snow was melting, their bout of starvation over; but at what cost?

His Clanmates had slowly perished to the illness around him. WindClan had gone to war with the price of injury and a death at the payoff of a mouthful of catmint to save their withering lives. Cats were exiled. Dandelionwish was now a prisoner. In the midst of it all, he had been bound to his nest, sick and ignorant to it all. Part of him didn't want to get up at all.

Jasperglare's rough greeting brought Coalfoot to lift his eyes from where he stared at the snowy paws beneath him. A weary smile tugged at the corner of his lips, but didn't quite fully form. The interaction was warm, however, and it grew just a little wider.

The marbled tom was still a little unsteady on his feet, but he pushed himself up to make his way over, gaze briefly flickering over to Tigerfrost before sitting down next to Jasperglare. "We're doing... alright, all things considered," he rasped. His throat was still rough, but he did his best to swallow it back.

"I'm looking forward to finally being able to make up for lost time." It was true. He worried for the state of camp, but he would be lying if he said he didn't yearn to be back in camp and hunting on the moor. Looking to Jasperglare, he gave the russet tom a friendly nudge on the shoulder. "We've got our work cut out for us, huh?"

Vulturemask had been following along refusing to let Dandelionwish be alone with a cat like Tigerfrost who he didn't trust the slightest bit. The looks they gave his friend sometimes was enough to keep him on guard. Of course he doubted the fool would be so foolish to actually try to harm their mentor without getting Sootstars wrath on them but aha, his clanmates had turned out to be pretty ugly when it come to blaming others instead of admitting to their own mistakes. Dandelionwish had nothing to do with any of this. Even if Sootstar herself might believe so he didn't. Not everything he agreed on with their leader. This was one of these times.

He would enter the den with the two of them and he would stop shortly afterwards as he silently observed the situation for a brief moment, enough to hear Tigerfrost snide remark, and catch the look he send over to Dandelionwish. Tch, vermin. Vulturemask would slowly made himself over to stop right beside the tiger stripped tom, and he would stare down at them with his intense looking eyes since he was one of the tallest cats in this clan. " Why don't you go and wait outside?. This is a check up between me and my patients...you will only be in my way." He would inform them firmly, thinking they could wait outside in the cold where he belonged to be. Dandelionwish did not needed this one to breath down their neck all of the time especially since there would be nowhere for his mentor to run in here. So why was Tigerfrost here taking up space for?.

With that hopefully taking care of he would turn his attention to Coalfoot and Jasperglare who still looked like he had given up on life. He had no clue what Jasperglare had said to Dandelionwish in the past but he let that conversation be kept between the two of them. It was not his business now was it?. " I'm glad the two of you are looking better now." he would say, but not was it thanks for the help of the two catmints they had lost Sunsetbreeze for. Turned out if they had send the patrol to the horseplace instead of to skyclan they could have collected alot more....and now instead they had lost more herbs all wastefully to treat their battled scarred clanmates which could have been avoided. " None of you have problems with breathing or coughing anymore?." he glanced over at Dandelionwish, just like an apprentice would do when they sought confirmation that they where doing their job correctly. His gaze would then shift over to Coalfoot, and a snort escaped him. " Eager aren't ya?. Windclan will be pleased to have both of you back on our team again." He was indifferent to his own words but it made the trick didn't it?. Acting like he cared which was something he was expected to do now.

His eyes shift as the two cats seemed to boop at one another, and Tigerfrost wonders if Jasperglare has been told of what has recently transpired. Did the sickly not know that Dandelionwish had been branded a traitor? Still, the former rogue admits that he wishes he could have taken the place of those he thought more deserving of life. The chimera flicks an ear in thought.

"You lived for a reason." The tom responds, "StarClan has taken the others because it was their time to go. Celebrate the lives they got to live, and the life you will now get to continue living." Bluntly spoken wisdom as the brutish tom let's his fiery vision soften upon Jasperglare for a mere moment.

Coalfoot seemed to be recovering too, though his voice was still raspy and rough. Still, Tigerfrost could count WindClan lucky that many would recover well enough to return to their duties as Warrior's. The smell of sickness still hung heavy throughout the den's air, and some in the background continued to cough and wheeze. Their fates were undecided, as of yet. Whether or not StarClan would take anymore, he does not know.

"Have none of you been informed of what transpired?" The bearer of bad news, as it were, but the duty rested upon Tigerfrost's shoulders as his vision swept across the faces of those within the badger set. Of course, his eyes meet those of Vulturemask's, and Tigerfrost holds the glare, entirely unconcerned. He would not be intimidated, and if this new medicine cat loved Dandelionwish so much, perhaps Tigerfrost will have to inform Sootstar of the potential treachery.

"No." A simple response was all that Vulturemask would get from the beast. His suspicion had now blossomed within his chest, taking root like a thorny vine. Because of Vulturemask's behavior, both he and Dandelionwish would be lucky to get a second to themselves. No, Tigerfrost would watch both of them like hawks. He continues to watch as the conversation goes on, his vision glowing with a fiery intensity.
