This was awful, this was the worst!. How dared they leave her alone with this...this devils. This cute little faces with evil minds that most be plotting to destroy her!. Sunsetpaw hated this part of being the apprentice the most. The fact she had been given the task to look out after the most troublesome and difficult cats in the clan. The kits. She had been asked to babysit the kits!. What sort of cruel and mad cat would dare do this towards her!. Sunsetpaw wanted to complain to protest but knew that would do very little in her favor so...she did the only thing she could do and that was to suck it up. Uuuuugh. She was so not looking forward to this knowing very well how draining this job could be. How any molly wished to have kits was beyond even her understanding.

In defeat she sat down right outside of the nursery there she had gathered up all of the kits for today. She needed to think fast, to come up with something for this lil bugs to do...But what?. She could only think of one thing but she wasn't entierly sure how brilliant that idea was...but it was worth a shot wasn't it?. " Okay..everyone is here right?. Great, great. Now lets play a game. It's call the seating game!. Which means all of you are gonna seat exactly where you are now without moving and the one who lasts the longest wins!. Fun game right?." She gave them a smile hoping, begging to starclan above that she had succeeded to outsmart them. If not...hahaha, starclan help her because she had no clue on how to deal with kits!. This was her worst nightmare.

Why had starclan done this towards her?.

As a mother of two, Sootstar had to come up with all sorts of games to keep her children busy. To keep them safe, to keep them from tearing up camp. It's been a long time though since she's had to instruct them to do anything... well behaved cats they've become. Yet watching Sunsetpaw kitsit brings her back down memory lane, even if just for a short while.

"You'll have to teach them the quiet game next." She suggests with a playful smirk to Sunsetpaw.

( ) The seating game, huh? Aspenkit has certainly never heard of it, but it seemed simple enough to just sit down, if not a bit boring after awhile. "Is that really all we have to do? Just sit?" she inquires with a tilt of her head. She glances at the other kits gathered - she's certain that some of them won't be very good at this game, especially Wisteriakit. Her brother's hardly ever been still for more than a moment, and somehow she doubts that this game is going to change that. Tucking her tail over her front paws, Aspenkit plops down onto the ground, claiming her spot. While not exactly fond of having to spend her day under such scrutiny when she's just about to become an apprentice, she is still Aspenkit for now, so it's only natural that she would still have to follow the rules for kits.

Besides, maybe she can use this as a sort of learning opportunity. Like, pretending that she's already a warrior, and that she has to be really, really still or else she'll scare the prey away. Or, maybe she's hiding from warriors from an enemy clan! Though, if she were trying to hide, she wouldn't exactly do it sitting out in the open, but the principle still stands. With newfound excitement, Aspenkit sits up a bit straighter, eager to play along with this game for now. At Sootstar's comment, she blinks inquisitively. The quiet game? She doesn't know that one either. "...That's when you stay real quiet, right?" Aspenkit asks, blinking up at Sootstar. That sounds like...a less fun game, she decides, especially if they were going to play both games at once. Of course, she'll still try her best, if only to prove that she's really ready to be left safely unsupervised.

shrewpaw approached the little crowd that sat outside the nursery, eyes flicking over her fellow denmate who was accompanied by sootstar and a handful of kittens who looked upon them with curious eyes. "the sit still game? quiet game? now that ain't sound like a lick of fun fo' the kits! you'll end up borin' 'em to death." the sepia-toned apprentice says with a wrinkle of her nose before shooting a grin at the youngsters gathered around. kit-sitting ain't that bad atleast not to her, it was always fun and a pretty easy task.

shrewpaw hummed in thought before speaking again. "we could throw a mossball around, play hide 'n seek. . .oh! ah can pretend ta be a fearsome badger and ya'll could try and take me down!"

"Now that sounds like fun doesn't it?" Dapplefoot exclaimed. She'd already had thoughts of tempting a kit or two out of formation with a playful swish of her tail. This game of pretend sounded like a great idea, especially for the kits just raring to become warriors. The large molly nudged a few forward with her nose, lining them up in front of Shrewpaw. "Come now, lets protect the camp from this big bad badger!" She said, hoping her determined tone and slight play crouch would inspire them to have some fun with the older cats.

Weaselclaw comes to settle beside Sootstar, giving her ear an affectionate but brisk lick before turning gleaming, amused blue eyes onto Sunsetpaw, Shrewpaw, and the kits. Sunsetpaw looks anything but excited about being tasked with kitsitting for the queens. "I'm sure Moonshadow appreciates the break," he tells Sunsetpaw with a smirk.

Sootstar suggests she teach the kits the 'quiet game' next and he has to stifle a bark of laughter. "The sitting game and the quiet game... my favorite things to play when your kits were small," he tells her. He'd had his tail bitten into many times, his ears gnawed, his paws tread over. Sitting still would have been a welcome change.

Weaselclaw looks fondly at the kits next, especially little Aspenkit. One of Moonshadow's, and -- though it's not exactly spoken about within the confines of the Clan -- one of Hyacinthbreath's, by extension. He narrows his eyes thoughtfully as the kit questions Sootstar about the 'quiet game.' The kit has good blood and seems respectful -- he finds himself interested to see how Moonshadow's children turn out. Perhaps he'll talk to Sootstar about mentoring one of them.

He gives Shrewpaw and Dapplefoot a small smile. The badger game admittedly sounds like more fun than Sunsetpaw's game -- he's sure the other apprentice appreciates getting a break, too. He mock bares his fangs at Aspenkit. "Show us how a warrior fights off a badger, then," he says.

( ) As more and more of her clanmates approach, Aspenkit remains firmly in place, not wanting to lose the game already, but her ears prick up at Shrewpaw's suggestions. Moss ball, hide and seek, badger attack - those games all sound much more fun than this seating game, she has to admit, but she still hesitates to spring into action. Sunsetpaw is the one who's supposed to be watching them today, right? So that means they're supposed to listen to her. Dapplefoot's words bring her closer to stirring - if there are two other cats encouraging them to play a different game, one of them a warrior, then surely it's alright? As Aspenkit is nudged forward, it's enough to get her to rise to her paws. Sure, she's lost the original game, but this game is going to be a lot more fun, she's certain.

Weaselclaw's challenge finally brings an excited grin to her maw as she lowers herself into a crouch, haunches wiggling as she prepares to strike. Aspenkit leaps up with a gleeful squeal, pushing off with as much strength as she can muster, and aims for Shrewpaw's back, attempting to scrabble on top of the apprentice. She's...not really sure what the best method of taking on a badger is, but surely having the high ground is a good idea, right? Or, were you supposed to fight badgers from below?

getting into character of a badger, the earthen-toned apprentice let out a little roar of surprise as the young kitten launched themselves with a squeal onto her back. shrewpaw, being mindful of her movements, would hop around from spot to spot in attempts to give a little jostle to aspenkit as if trying to get her off. playful growls would rumble from the 'badger's' chest, ears lowering to try and appear a little menacing.

"silly little warrior! you cannot defeat me!" shrewpaw lowered her voice a few octaves but it did sound a little silly paired with her southern twang.

( ) As she finds herself on Shrewpaw's back, Aspenkit lets out a surprised purr of satisfaction - all that practicing jumping to catch leaves was already paying off! In that moment of distraction, she almost immediately slips off as Shrewpaw begins to move about, gently trying to shake her off. Aspenkit leans in the opposite direction, trying to regain a sense of balance, and when she realizes she's still slipping, she would unsheathe her claws as she tries to remain on Shrewpaw's back, not with the intent to dig in and cause harm but to instead find momentary purchase to keep herself from falling off completely. "A badger could never defeat a Windclan warrior!" she calls out in response, punctuated by peals of laughter. Aspenkit isn't exactly a warrior, sure, but Shrewpaw isn't exactly a real badger either, and besides, she bets that a real warrior could take a badger, easy.

"Go on little ones! A Clan fights together!" Dapplefoot encouraged, happy Aspenkit had taken so quickly to the game. Other kits soon joined in tackling the make-believe badger alongside the lightly colored kit. Dapple laughed and spurred them on, following behind Shrewpaw to make sure she could catch any kits who fell. Dapplefoot was quite relaxed though as she trusted Shrewpaw to be careful with the younglings. It was such a lovely sight, happy kits.
