☾ ⋆*・゚ His labored breathing was all he could focus on. One cough left his body with more quickly following, rattling his cold body splayed out on the floor. All he could look at was the floor. What he would give to see the sky once more. "I'm sorry" Quitecrow mumbled "I can't, I'm so sorry." Everything hurts.
The young warrior didn't want to call for Wolfsong or Celandinepaw, they were so busy lately, what heavy burdens they carry. He prayed for Cottensprings swift return and safe return home to help. He has so much left to do and so much left to say. He desperately wants to know how the hunt went today, if the queens and kits have eaten yet. How the work on the tunnels was going.
Quitecrow was ashamed to be here useless and a burden unable to beat the cold known as yellow cough. How much longer must he be trapped here? Hot tears burned his eyes, rolling down his feverish face. "I'm sorry" Quitecrow closed his eyes and exhaled a shaken breath, but when he tried to breathe in, he was unable to gasp for air.
"Quiet" "Quiet" "Quiet" "Wake up sleepyhead"
Why? Who? They spoke of half of his name, no one had done that since he was small. Quitecrow opened his eyes and rose up feeling better than he had ever felt before. He laughed; perhaps a good night of sleep was all he needed to get better! Racing out of Badger sett into the open field was like a dream; his joints didn't hurt and his mind was clear, feeling like he could run forever. Under the endless sky once more!
The outline of cats drew him in, his clanmates! Finally he could talk to some cats and see what he had missed while away. As he approached, the four in front of him carried strangely familiar shades of black with awfully familiar patches of white. Quitecrow leaped into the embrace of his family, could this day get any better? What were they doing here?
"Finally we are together, let's go." His mother said eyes filled with tears. Rubbing the top of his head with her paw affectionately.
Quitecrow shook his head, confused but smiling joyfully. Oh, of course she'd say that, but he hadn't even seen his clan yet. "No I can't leave, ma. I got to tell everyone I'm feeling better."
He was met with crestfallen faces and eyes filled with pity. He took a step back, then another, looking at the star-coated pelts of his family, then down to his own matching paws. "You're dead... I died, and I didn't get to tell everyone goodbye." In his desperation to leave, he must have left his body back in Badger sett. For his friend to clean up, a heartbroken sob escaped him.
"Everyone?"
"Yeah" Quietcrow sniffled, looking back in the direction of camp. "I got so much to tell you about my home in Windclan."
