bunnypounce & 25 moons & female & she/her & windclan tunneler

The greenleaf heat has slowly begun to give way to leaf-fall chill, but made as she is, the sun is no kinder to bunny than it was before. With an increase of reasons to be above the surface, the woman has settled upon a trick as old as time to keep away the pain - or at least, the oldest one she knows. White-furred figure hobbles and hops her way forwards, pelt awash in the first creeping rays of daylight, nose twitching as she seeks out her quarry. At last she stops before a flattened area, free of grass and plantlife, nodding to herself, and then she begins - rolling about in the soft substrate until she is no longer white but tan. Unlike her time in the tunnels, this dirt clings tightly to her fur, coating her completely and wholly, until she is more dirt than cat.

  • short and squat albino she-cat with pink-tinged blue eyes and a missing front paw. she seems perpetually smudged with dirt from her time spent beneath the earth, and rarely makes an appearance above ground. bunny speaks in the third person, her voice strangely high-pitched and child-like, and doesn't seem to be the brightest of the bunch.

── .∘°°∘. ── Rolling around in the dirt is a favorite pastime for some. The texture can relieve any itchiness, should nothing else alleviate it, but he knows it can also satisfy a particularly...primal necessity for scent, either by lessening it or marking the WindClan moors for their own. Of course, when he encounters Bunnypounce, he wonders what compels her. Does she itch? Perhaps the sun caused irritation yesterday, and her skin has dried greatly for it. His eye narrows slightly. Or perhaps this is how she prevents such an occurrence. Could dirt disguise her skin well enough to protect it?

"Bunnypounce," he greets. "Is your skin dry and uncomfortable?"

WOLFSONG of WINDCLAN FORMER ROGUE TURNED MEDICINE CAT. 36 MOONS, HE/HIM, NPC X NPC. MATES WITH SUNSTRIDE (07/05/2023). BIOGRAPHY, PINTEREST, & PLAYLIST.
  • ★★★☆☆ WOUNDS: You're (mostly) in safe paws. You'll know if he's less experienced if he asks for your permission to try a treatment. No wound can scare him away from knowledge. — ★★★☆☆ INFECTION: He can prevent most infections. If you feel feverish, let him know— he'll hum thoughtfully over herbs and sniff your wound before saying, "With your blessing..."
  • ★☆☆☆☆ ACHES & PAINS: If you complain to him of pain, he'll ask where. If it's a headache, you'll likely feel a bit better. For anything else, "Try this, if you'd like, and tell me how you feel." — ★☆☆☆☆ BROKEN BONES: At best. he can ask you to remain lying down in the den. He may try to distract you with conversation while he considers what herb to feed you.
  • ★★★★★ TRAVELING HERBS: Going somewhere? No worries; Wolfsong knows just what you need to stay hale and healthy during your journey. The rest is up to you. — ☆☆☆☆☆ KITTING: He doesn't remember what it was like to be born. Coincidentally, that is the extent of his familiarity with kitting. At least he won't leave you without moral support.
  • ★☆☆☆☆ POISONS: It's best if you avoid eating anything unfamiliar to you— it's probably just as unfamiliar to Wolfsong. The best he can do is offer you yarrow and sit with you. — ★★☆☆☆ ILLNESS: If it's white or greencough, you'll likely recover. Otherwise, prepare for odd concoctions and the usual request that you consent to a little trial-and-error.

Though Mousepaw finds himself liking it underground more than above, he does not find himself liking to roll around in the dirt. Other than paws that are constantly covered, it is rare to find Mousepaw covered in the stuff after he leaves the tunnels, always shaking it off before heading back to camp. He could never get the smell off, but that didn't matter to the young tom, it was just the dirt itself, sticking to things it shouldn't and then coating his nest with dried clumps that sometimes dug into his skin as he slept, causing pain in the morning. So when he came across the scene before him - Bunnypounce rolling in the stuff while Wolfsong asked questions - the apprentice found himself stunned for a moment, confusion plastered across his face as he looked at the two.

"That looks... so uncomfortable." Was all he could say in the moment, ears pinning back for a moment at the thought of all that dust everywhere in camp.

Bunnypounce is among the stranger of WindClan's cats in many parts of their lives, but in this he cannot say he doesn't understand. Like Wolfsong, his mind immediately takes to a need to hide. A terrible battle behind them, and his paws caked in as much mud as blood; drowning himself first in snow and then the scarce patches of dirt before dragging to a strong patch of wild flowers. Anything any everything to distract, to detract, until they found their way to water. He was no RiverClanner, but it was as much a part of his upbringing as the snow. He sees her now and cannot help but glance around, from Wolfsong's rounded belly to the world visible outside of their camp. He sees no threat that would warrant such protection. Even still, he comes to stand protectively at the healer's side, gait quick and gaze watchful.

There are no questions or comments to be found. Instead, Sunstride slowly allows himself to be distracted by the sight before him. A smile begins to spread from the corners of his eyes.

  • SUNSTRIDE. named for his coloration and his bold chasing of fate.
—— cis male, he - him. approx. 40 moons old. lead warrior of windclan + former rogue.
—— gay, monogamous. mate to wolfsong from 07.05.2023.  npc x npc, no larger family.
—— has recently regained some of his earlier lightness, but maintains his steady facade.

sunstride is broad and bold– a creature standing above most of windclan, though not a beast beyond its borders, with fur that flames red and deepens to a burnt amber with every whorl and stripe. his eyes, in comparison, are a pale summer's blue, still as bold as the rest of him.

The lead warrior is no stranger to getting dirty. Working in the tunnels all day every day, they tend to end up with more dirt in their coat than in the tunnel itself. Sometimes, the dirt is a better help than water to clean her pelt off, and it helps as well with the occasional itching problem. And for Bunnypounce, it seems there may be another benefit in terms of sun protection. The three-legged tunneler is one of the clan’s strangely pink-eyed and pale-coated warriors—a trait seen as well in Ghostwail, Whitepaw, and Cygnetstare. Before coming to the moorland, Scorchstreak had never seen a cat with such odd-colored eyes, and she was surprised to find that they had a terrible reaction to being in the sun for too long, but now she greets all but Ghostwail as exceptional tunnelers. So when she comes across Bunnypounce rolling in the dirt, brown staining her pelt, the calico wastes hardly a moment before dropping unceremoniously to the ground and rolling alongside her fellow tunneler until her own red-streaked fur is distorted with brown.

When she stands once again, she offers her fellow lead warriors—warrior now, she supposes, with only a hint of bitterness in her thoughts toward Wolfsong—a dip of her head. Then she turns her attention to the apprentice who remarks that it looks uncomfortable. "Don’t tell me you’ve never had a dirt bath before. Mousepaw, you’re a tunneler—try it out." Her tone is gentle, teasing, but her facial expression betrays none of the lightheartedness present in her voice. Still, she does hope the apprentice tries it out for himself; he likely gets half the experience from running around in the tunnels, anyway.

He’s not as fond of the dirt as some of his Clanmates—his own mate and leader included, he thinks with amusement—but even he can admit how nice the silky dust can feel on one’s pelt in the relentless heat of greenleaf. For Bunnypounce, he imagines it’s like Whitepaw, like Cygnetstare—strange pink-eyed cats who are sickened by the sun. He sits beside Sunstride and Wolfsong, sharing their smile as Scorchstreak flops into the loose dirt alongside the albino she-cat.

Mousepaw’s comment only makes him chuckle. “I would’ve thought you tunnelers are more fond of dirt in your fur than the rest of us sane WindClanners.” He flicks his ears in jest; he’s spent many an hour grooming clods of dried mud from Sootstar’s thick pelt before.

There was nothing wrong with dirt, as far as Badgermoon was concerned - it didn't seem to sicken anyone, not really, and the smell was ... inoffensive - it simply smelled of the earth, and you didn't have to be a tunneler to appreciate that. The problem for him, like for Mousepaw, lay in the feel of it: the grit scattered in amongst his fur, the feeling of tiny particles rubbing against his skin. It drove him crazy, and tended to turn vaguely muddy in his mouth when he tried to groom himself. Therefore he left dust bathing to the birds...and, apparently, to Bunnypounce and Scorchstreak. "Are you going to teach our children to be dirt-rollers like yourself?" He inquired in a tone clearly meant to be gently teasing, pausing beside Weaselclaw and grinning at the two cats who were now, it had to be said, much browner than they had been before.
