—————————————————————⊰☀︎⊱————————————————————
The red squirrel was just asking to be eaten with how it sat its plump little behind on a gnarled root and nibbled away at something carefree and unattentive to the tabby stalking towards it. Sunfreckle was not the most fortunate hunter when it came to the quicker, darting prey, but today he was favored with what was essentially a free gift. A leap, a heavy strike from that lone forepaw, and it crumpled without even knowing he was there. The partially chewed seed it had been gnawing on rolled to the ground and he batted it away with a paw back to the base of the tree, maybe it would lure down another and someone else would be lucky today but he was taking his prize and heading right back to camp since they were so close already. The elders and the queens with their kits had been fed already, so he made a beeline for Berryheart's den once he'd trekked his way back and broke through the bushes shrouding one of the many entrance ways.
He's not surprised by the occupants there, his friend rarely left this place as of late and it had buried a seed of worry within his heart that gradually grew every day.
He sets the squirrel down before speaking properly, head lifting up with a tentative smile, "I thought I'd bring you and Stormfeather something, how's she doing anyways?" His green gaze drifts past his friend to the nest in the medicine cat den where the newly named warrior sleeps, he can not see her legs from this angle, nor does he have any medicine skill to even determine what he'd be looking for - but he looks all the same in the hopes that maybe..something has changed? He's pretty sure nothing had.
"You taking care of yourself too I hope?"
Flamewhisker had been, well frankly she'd seemed especially down since coming back and he wondered if the burden of the journey was part of it. Surely, she didn't blame herself for what happened to Little Wolf, to Stormfeather...
