  • She could sing praises to StarClan that their time spent ousted from camp had been so limited... It had not been the huge, sweeping strokes that had all but obliterated their camp the last time. Had not forced them to hunker down in the Beech Copse, exposed, for moons on end. Though the stars were none too thrilled to be seeing her again in the name of preventing a death that couldn't be returned from, Lichenstar would take their loving lashings if that was the price. Seeing the activity of her camp, undeterred despite the losses that always found their way into their home, it only made her feel more secure in her decisions. In her choices. In Smokestar's choice in her. She had to be doing something right.... Right?

The chilly breeze wraps around scars and fringe like an icy grasp, sending a shudder down her spine as she stands above her clan, prepared to usher them into the leaf-bare strife that will shortly find them. Their list of announcements today proves small, a noted stagnancy in the nursery (thank the stars) that might signal an easier transition into the freeze. "Opportunity... sits on our... shores...." A bold claim to make so suddenly, but one bolstered by the uniform understanding of her council. Their drive is shared... and with allies, their chances grow stronger. "But first... we have... kits who are ready... to begin their training." She beckons the children of Robinheart forward, noting the sad joy in the tortoiseshell's eyes. Don't worry.... she's watching...

"You've all reached... the age of six moons.... " The last time they'd leave that nursery as its residents for many moons to come... not until they were far older, absorbed in their own relationships, starting their own families if that's where their paws led them. "It is time... you became apprentices. Rivuletkit... from this day on... until you receive... your warrior name... you will be known... as Rivuletpaw. Your mentor... will be Carawaysong." Willowroot's daughter was plenty prepared for her first apprentice... and there was something sweet about their pairing, knowing the closeness the smoke had with the young girl's mother. "She will pass on... everything she knows... her loyalty... and dutiful nature... have brought her success." And they would again.

"Redkit... until you receive... you warrior name... you will be... known as Redpaw. Your mentor will... be Midnightash." Oddly enough, another warrior who'd been shaped by Willowroot in no small part. Though she was fiery, her tongue sharper than barbs... she was skilled. She might be taught to hone her bristling when handed the responsibility of a life more fragile than hers. "Her ferocity... and loyalty... will serve you well... in the coming moons." A hint for larger things to come... and hopefully a song of glory would be sung about it in history.

"Algaekit..." The name feels strange on her tongue, remembering a night spent teasing Hazecloud. Surrounded in the warmth of the nursery, debating what to name Twinklepaw. It hadn't been a name for her to use... but it had been a name used for her. A tiny gift from a student teetering over the edge of aster-dust embrace, even if she refused to admit it. "From this day on... until you receive your... warrior name... you'll be known as.... Algaepaw." A conversation held in confidence rings between tattered ears... a reminder of a reassurance made and an unspoken vow. She'd considered this... and still had not been prepared for the wave of nostalgia that tore at her. "I will be your mentor... and will teach you... everything I know." An odd skill-set perhaps, knowing the ways her history outside of the clan had shaped her but that wasn't what motivated her to undertake this task. She wouldn't let Algaepaw slip between her toes.

"Gullpaw... your mentor has sustained... grievous injury... in the wake of the.... floods that overtook camp. They'll need time... to adjust to their.... injuries so... I'm asking... Bubbleburst... to take over your training." She dips her head to the soft-souled she-cat, confident that she'd do well as Twinklepaw approached the end of her training as well.

Her head lifts suddenly, turning to the rest of the clan with a crackling energy, a warning under tense muscles. "Mentors... Prepare your apprentices... Sharpen their claws... Teach them to defend themselves... Introduce them to the chill... of our waters... Show them how to fight." Her vision pauses on Hazecloud, a nervous frown creasing her maw.... This would be the first real war their children would endure.. and they were too old now to be rescued by their mothers. There was no more delaying the inevitable... they could only be sure they were ready. "RiverClan won't be left... to starve this leaf-bare..." Not like they had last. "We will fight... for what's rightfully ours.... Be ready..."

A grin interlaced with pride and a swell of certainty spreads, "We'll be taking back.... Sunningrocks."

She simmers her excitement in favor of stepping aside, glancing towards cloud-swept fur with a nod of encouragement. "Lend Moonbeam... your ears... She also has something... to share." The lynx point takes the chance to descend from her perch and touch noses with Algaepaw, a finality to their arrangement as a pair.

It is the first meeting in moons where Moonbeam knows more than many within the clan knew of what would be announced. The usual announcements of apprentices and warriors to be named added within the announcement of war, of gaining back what was rightfully theirs. She listens to the side as Robinheart's litter is taken from the nursery and thrown into the paws of their mentors, both new and experienced, as each of them are named she looks to them all, smile apparent on her maw as she hears them become kits to 'paws, and when they are all named she joins in with the usual cheering before Lichenstar speaks of sunningrocks. She watches as murmurs move through the clan, as eyes widen or excited words ring out before attention is moved onto herself and quickly the pale moggie moves closer to the crowd so that all could hear.

"With leafbare coming soon and with the battle for sunningrocks happening even quicker I have decided that I need an extra set of paws to help me and learn the path of healing, to help everyone within the clan." And should things go well it would not be to bury any that fought for their territory back. Lichenstar knew of her decision, the cat in question knew of her decision, though she was sure it would come as a surprise to some. "I have decided that Robinheart will be my apprentice, should she accept." Of course she had already done so, in the medicine den when the decision had first been finalized, but had the queen changed her mind since then? She hoped not.

Reactions: robinheart
Foxtail silently makes his way over to the crowd of RiverClanners, at the sound of Lichenstar's coarse voice. The tom has some mixed feelings right now— Robinheart's kits are to be apprenticed today, yet the clan will learn about their plans to reclaim the Sunningrocks. He knows he, in all technicality, agreed to the plan proposed by Lichenstar... but StarClan, he hates battling. He pushes the thought away as Rivuletpaw is apprenticed to Carawaysong, Redpaw to Midnightash, and Algaepaw to Lichenstar herself. He knew Robinheart was worried about who the rest of her kits would be apprenticed to... and he hopes she feels comfortable with Lichenstar's choices.

Carawaysong, the daughter of Willowroot, is certainly ready for her first apprentice. He knows Lichenstar will train Algaepaw well— it's an honor to be mentored by their leader. Midnightash was a little more rough on the edges, but she has proven herself to be ready for an apprentice. "Rivuletpaw! R-Redpaw! Algaepaw!"

His paws fidget nervously at the next words spoken, and he gives his leader a shaky nod. Sunpaw needs some more work in regards to her battle training— it honestly surprised him to see her struggling despite that... firey personality of hers. He knew he isn't the strongest fighter either, but he'll ensure she'll be ready for this battle... Despite their differences as of late, he won't deny her right to fight for what belongs to her... what belongs to RiverClan. We'll head out as soon as possible to train, He thinks to himself, She has to be ready in time.

But his thoughts run off short as Lichenstar calls their attention to Moonbeam, and the lead warrior looks in the direction of their young medicine cat. He watches her pad forward, and as she opens her maw to speak... Foxtail's eyes widen with surprise. I have decided Robinheart will be my apprentice, if she accepts."

Moonbeam wishes for Robinheart, his close friend, to be her apprentice. Robinheart has such a gentle, kind heart... she has gone through so much in the last couple moons, things he can't even imagine. But she never let her hardships stop her from being her. His chest swelled with pride, and his olive green eyes scan the crowd for the former queen, and if she accepts, now medicine cat apprentice.

He knew she wasn't much of a fighter— he's more of a fighter when compared to her! He had wondered how she was going to adjust back to the life of a warrior... something she had little time to genuinely experience. But StarClan, he feels so much pride in his friend... Being a medicine cat isn't for the faint of heart. Those gentle, warm paws aren't meant to kill, they are meant to heal.

If she were to accept, the lead warrior would raise his voice high amongst the crowd. "R-Robinheart! Robinheart!"

જ➶ Dark colored ears flick as she hears the sound of paws from the leader's den. Twitching her tail the warrior turns her malignant gaze upon her leader and without pause she moves to make her way toward her call as a meeting is announced. With intrigue she listens, curious about what she means at the beginning but the ceremonies start. They have a fine line of kits ready to become apprentices and she allows an even smile to pull at her muzzle. Though she almost looks surprised as her name is called to take on one such new apprentice. Redpaw. Her gaze shifts to look at the young cat, tilting her head before she steps up to them with ease. Dipping her skull she touches noses to Redpaw then. "I have much to teach you." They will start with the borders first given the circumstances and hopefully she will teach them some swimming lessons before the river begins to chill them to the bone. Just like her own mentor she will make sure that Redpaw is well prepared for any situation. Her maw parts then and she calls out the new apprentices. "Rivuletpaw, Redpaw, Algaepaw!"

The ease of welcoming is nice and for once she feels accomplished in her place in the clan. Her eyes glance around for Splashdance then before she focuses back to the meeting. More announcements come and her eyes widen. They will be taking Sunningrocks back. Good. Perfect. They should take back the land that Thunderclan stole from them. Especially when they had been vulnerable. Now it is time for Thunderclan to hurt like they had to because of their selfishness. She will be ready when the time comes.

Lichenstar's call stirs the Clan; Iciclefang is one of the first to slip close to River Rock, tucking her tail neatly around white-toed paws. Their recent council meeting has her holding her breath, excitement gleaming in blue eyes. The RiverClan leader wastes no time: she tells the Clan that opportunity sits on their shores. The tortoiseshell's paws prick; she gives Pinepaw, who no doubt sits close to her, a reassuring look. "Remember when I said your first battle would come soon?" Her voice is hushed, and quickly, she falls into silence as Lichenstar continues the meeting.

It's Robinheart's kits who have reached their sixth moon. Redpaw is apprenticed to young Midnightash, which Iciclefang thinks is a fine choice. The dark molly is a stern warrior, even in her youth; she believes she'll make a fine mentor to the young tom. Rivuletpaw is mentored to Carawaysong, sleek as an otter in the river as her mother, Willowroot. Algaepaw is taken by Lichenstar herself. It seems the leader had chosen careful mentors for Robinheart's brood, perhaps because of the bond she'd shared with their deceased parent.

Iciclefang cheers for them: "Redpaw! Algaepaw! Rivuletpaw!"

The next ceremonies are reassignments; Iciclefang waits. It is essential every young cat is properly paired in times like these.

Her ears flick as Lichenstar's energy changes. The lynx point warns her warriors to sharpen their apprentices' claws and prepare them for upcoming battle. "We'll be taking back Sunningrocks," she rasps, and Iciclefang sits a little taller, a little straighter, as though her spine is made of solid ice. "You will be well-prepared," she tells Pinepaw beside her. She can only hope Cragpaw and Crabpaw have been as well-honed as she.

But the topic changes again, and the Clan's attention is directed toward their medicine cat. Moonbeam pads forward, calm and collected as Beesong had once been, as Ravensong had at least presented himself to be. She announces that with leafbare's approach, with the impending battle over Sunningrocks, she will be taking an apprentice of her own. Iciclefang's ears flick with interest. "I have decided that Robinheart will be my apprentice, should she accept."

The tortoiseshell's gaze flicks to the dark, red-crested she-cat she'd shared a nursery with, however briefly. She is young, but has mothered a litter, has served her Clan in many capacities. And, admittedly, her heart is soft, her paws busy with kittens. Iciclefang makes a low noise of approval in her throat — Robinheart would do well in this role, she thinks.

"Robinheart! Robinheart!" She gives the younger she-cat a nod.

Just as she had done for Foxpaw, Robinheart fusses with her children's pelts. She helps groom them until their pelts shine – the epitome of health and beauty carried by trueblooded Riverclanners. She murmurs words of affection and comfort to the trio, knowing just how important this ceremony was for them. The next phase of their lives. No longer would they share a nest with her, but among the other apprentices. They'd rely on their mentors to teach them all they will need to know. They were growing up -

Her eyes reflect saddened joy at the occasion, misting all the more as citrine gaze meets icy blues of the lynx point who was to assign them their mentors.

She is watching over them, yes.

Robinheart presses her muzzle to each of their cheeks for a final time before her kits rise and approach their leader. She waits with bated breath for who their mentors will be. And in their birth order they are called: Rivuletpaw to Carawaysong, Redpaw to Midnightash, and Algaepaw to Lichenstar. A sob catches in her throat. The tortoiseshell knows Lichenstar spent an agonizing amount of time selecting these mentors. And while Carawaysong and Midnightash were brand new mentors, they had received Willowroot's love and upbringing just as Robinheart had. They would instill that same legacy in her children. And Lichenstar would be sure to instill a legacy of her own through Algaepaw. Thank you, her expression reads as she looks to the blue lynx point before joining in with her clanmates. "RIVULETPAW! REDPAW! ALGAEPAW!" She hopes her voice rings the loudest.

Gullpaw's reassignment to Bubbleburst brings a soft smile to her maw. Another fitting pairing, another new mentor prepared to pass along all they learned to RiverClan's future.

The air shifts and soon enough Lichenstar commands their full attention once more. War looms on the horizon. It sends a shudder down her spine, gaze flicking back to her newly apprenticed children. Robinheart prays they will not be on the frontline of the fight… not before they've gleaned all they can from their mentors. But they are Riverclan born and deserving of earning sunningrocks back.

Her mixed feelings on the matter are quenched for the time being by Moonbeam's voice. Lichenstar has given over the remainder of the meeting to the ivory moggy. Robinheart knows what the medicine cat will say – has known for some time now but kept the secret tucked close to her heart.

'With leafbare coming soon and with the battle for sunningrocks happening even quicker I have decided that I need an extra set of paws to help me and learn the path of healing, to help everyone within the clan.'

Her gentle gaze rests upon the snowy medicine cat. Her heart thrums nervously within her chest, aching for those who are not here to see her children become apprentices and herself step into a new role.

'I have decided that Robinheart will be my apprentice, should she accept.'

"I accept. I will serve Riverclan to the best of my ability as your apprentice," Robinheart vows before everyone – not just Moonbeam as she had done over a moon ago. And as her clanmates cheer her name, Robinheart listens to the whisper of the gentle breeze that carries their voices, hoping to hear the star blessed approval of her loved ones watching over her.

Cragpaw sits near the base of River Rock, his chest puffed with anticipation as he hears Lichenstar's hoarse voice break through the murmurs of the gathered clan. He shifts on his paws, excitement coursing through him when Robinheart's litter is called forward. A grin stretches across his maw as his leader bestows new names upon the kits, especially when he hears Rivuletpaw's. Mismatched eyes gleaming, he proudly calls out, "Rivuletpaw! Redpaw! Algaepaw!" His friend was finally joining him in the apprentices' den - it would be livelier now, filled with her bubbling energy.

When the meeting takes a more serious turn, Cragpaw's ears flick back slightly, catching the shift in tone. His gaze sharpens as Lichenstar speaks of training and preparing for battle. The air around him crackles with a newfound tension as she announces the reclaiming of Sunningrocks. Surprise etches itself on his features and a thrill of determination runs down his spine. Underneath it, there's nervousness, too. The thought of real battle, with all its risks and stakes, sends a jolt of adrenaline through him. He glances at his mentor with a nod, silently vowing to be ready, to take back what rightfully belongs to RiverClan.

And then, another surprise - a whisper of excitement and confusion ripples through the crowd as Moonbeam steps forward. Cragpaw listens intently as she announces her choice for a medicine cat apprentice. Robinheart? He blinks, processing the news. It's unexpected, yet it makes sense; Robinheart's gentle heart and steady nature seem perfect for a healer's path. Cragpaw finds himself breaking into a grin again, pride for the mother of his friends swelling in his chest. "Robinheart! Robinheart!" He calls out with the rest.
