pafp OVERCOME THESE OBSTACLES [spar]

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 Being an apprentice really isn’t all that he’d expected. He’d thought it would be so fun, so easy, and he’d get to bound about the territory with nothing but excitement. His hopes had been far-fetched, looking back, but Crabpaw had hoped he would at least be a good apprentice. He’d wanted to make his mother proud, and his mentor as well. But it seems like he can’t do anything right, and he’s just disappointing Cicadaflight and Iciclefang and everyone else who should be proud of him.

The boy is brainstorming ways to be a better apprentice, ranging from catching the biggest fish ever to defeating enemies in battle. But he doesn’t want to hurt the fish, so… he should try to fight RiverClan’s enemies. To fight off the other clans, he has to learn how to fight for real. And as he spots the familiar form of Midnightash heading for the water, Crabpaw springs to his paws to trail after her.

"Hey!" He calls out to the warrior, pale paws rushing over to stand at her flank before she manages to slip out of camp. Mossy eyes are bright as he gazes up at her,and his tail flickers to and fro expectantly. "You should spar with me," he suggests to the tortoiseshell. He thinks he could beat her if he tries hard enough—and if he doesn’t, then maybe she’ll go just easy enough on him that he can still look cool if he loses.

જ➶ A simple walk is something that she doesn't often get to have. The thought to try and find a pretty stone for Magpiepaw drifting in her mind as she starts to make her way to the edge of camp. The woman feels like a nice walk and time to herself will surely be relaxing but a sudden hey makes her stop in her tracks. The sunkissed warrior shifts herself, shadowy form finally laying eyes upon the apprentice. Crabpaw? Confusion glimmers in her gaze because she does not even know what they other would want with her. "Yes?" There is curiosity in her voice as the other catches up to her before finally she gets the reason for the intrusion. He wants her to spar with him. The idea makes her gaze narrow, thoughts swimming of the last apprentice that had approached her for a spar. Shellpaw. The molly had hit her rather harshly and she hadn't even known if the hit had damaged the other or not. Worry had slicked her spine that day but it seemed that the girl is fine and has been find since that day. Slowly she releases a breath and then she shifts her paws to move around him heading back into camp. "Alright, fine. But don't cry if you can't handle it."

The area she chooses is one that is soft enough for impacts just incase they really get into a tussle. Her paws shift and she manages to finally face him. Her tail shifts back and forth, ears pulling forward just slightly as she rolls her shoulders. "Rules, no claws, first to pin. You can have the first move if you want to." Then she merely dips her head and lowers her stance just a hair, ready for his first strike.

  • It was certainly admirable... to size up competition far greater than yourself and stare it defiantly in the eyes anyways. Crabpaw is not one of the apprentices on her list she would've attributed to bravery... Cragpaw, his more rambunctious brother, definitely... but Crabpaw? Maybe there was something to be said about Cicadaflight's style of mentoring... maybe he was better at bolstering confidence or inspiring courage that she hadn't noticed.

An amused smile settles on her face, taking a seat as an observer as Midnightash so willingly offers herself as a combatant... Her rules are simple and safe... which is really all the blue lynx point cares to worry over. His success or failure is inconsequential- he'll learn either way. Though... she suspected that the red and black warrior would not willingly roll over and hand him an easy victory.

"Show her... what you're made of," the leader chirps in fragmented words, squinting to show her encouragement.

Seeing Crabpaw engage someone in a spar brought back bad memoried for Ferngill, if he was honest... a little ginger scrap, facing of against something bigger than him. Fangs locked together in a small grimace, but he had to remind himself... despite Midightash's sharpness, she was passionate about RiverClan's success, and probably wouldn't wrench an eye out of a RiverClan youth. Relaxing a little, Ferngill was instead slammed with the memory of the failure of his warrior assessment ... a guilty Darkwhisker pinning him to the ground.

This wasn't such a big moment for Crabpaw, though. No, this was... just a practice spar, and Midnightash was at least grateful enough to give Crabpaw the first move. A verdant green eye curved with an encouraging smile as he settled next to Lichenstar, silken tail flicking with slight apprehension. Hopefully he hid it well enough.

"You got this, Crabpaw!" cheered the fire-bright tom, hoping Midnightash would forgive his obvious bias. This one made sense, though, right?

࿐ ࿔*:・゚ — Her attention flickers to Crabpaw noting how he runs to Midnightash and her brows furrow in the slightest wondering what he's talking to her about, its soon revealed that he asked the molly to spar with him and Beefang has to fight back the urge to snort. She remembers the last spar that the inky molly had with another apprentice, Shellpaw, and how it had gone... She can also recall the spar between herself and the other when they had been apprentices a few moons ago. The memory of having the upperpaw and putting Midnightash in her place causes a small bout of satisfaction to settle in her gut, the black smoke supposes that she could spare a bit of her time to oversee the spar as she turns to her apprentice, @Roepaw, and motions for him to follow her.

Perhaps her own vibrant furred apprentice could learn a few things from this spar and Beefang settles down onto her haunches with her bottlebruh tail curling neatly over her forepaws "Pay close attention." The black and white moggy instructs to him only to turn her attention to both Crabpaw and Midnightash after giving a dip of her head in subtle greeting to Lichenstar and Ferngill. Hopefully, Midnightash had learned from her previous spar with Shellpaw to know when to spot so that she didn't end up hurting anyone but Beefang doubts it given how thick skulled the other molly is.
