PERCHANCE TO DREAM [ ✦ ] PATROLS

Bluepool is not WindClan's deputy, Sunstride still had yet to name one and honestly? She could not blame him. The lead warriors were handling the usual duties well, rotating who gave out patrols, passing around the tasks that would usually fall upon the shoulders of one amongst four. It definitely made the burden less heavy when they worked as a team like this. A team, because that's what they were. Seamless and perfect, why change it when things were working out so beautifully? Their ordeal had brought them all closer together, bonded them in a way that only going through such a thing together could. As she lifts her head to drink in the crisp evening air, she hopes that the rest of the clan feels the same. "Alright cmon guys I have patrols to give out!" She calls out to the clearing bustling with cats awaiting to hear where they would be the next day.

First, she turns to her apprentice, or rather her former apprentice and there is pride in those golden eyes as she levels the newly minted lead warrior with an even gaze. "Periwinklebreeze, you will be leading the dawn patrol along the gorge along our border with RiverClan and ThunderClan. I want you to take Mintshade, Brightshine, and Gravelsnap" it was a, hopefully, balanced group with her sister and Gravelsnap going along, that and Periwinklebreeze had proven himself more than capable on more than one occasion now. She is certain he is up for the task. Besides, a gentler touch might be best for their hostile neighbors, and if trouble came about she does not doubt the abilities of her kin for even a moment. "I will be leading the dusk patrol along that border. Foxglare, Addervenom and Snakehiss, you will be accompanying me." Who better to keep an eye on the blackened tom than herself? She gives away nothing though, breezing past his name as if it were any other. "Meet me just outside the entrance of camp when the sun touches the horizon, eat a meal before we go and don't be late" if any of them lagged behind and delayed her going to bed at a decent hour she would have a few cross words to say to them.

"Sunstar" she says, her gaze drifting to that familiar rosetted pelt. It still felt strange to address him as such, felt even stranger to be giving him an order. She quickly puts it out of her mind though. This was simply business, after all, what he had asked of her. "I would like you to lead the patrol to ShadowClan and take Goldenstrike, Morningsong and Slateheart with you" ShadowClan had not given them much trouble but she knows they still were not the most pleased about how her sister had stolen kits from them. Perhaps seeing Sunstar at the head of a patrol would help to ease tensions between them. Show them that they were in the business of peace now, not war.

Speaking of war though... "I would also like a patrol to go out to horse place and our border with the lands beyond. Sedgepounce, you will be leading this patrol. Use caution and if you see anything... out of the ordinary, report straight back to me. Bring Milkthorn, Sparkspirit and Fogbound with you." past highstones is where the cats loyal to her sister had fled, it would not hurt to be extra cautious when it came to that part of their territory. And with that the patrols for the moor runners were complete. Now, on to the tunnelers.

If she thought giving a patrol to Sunstar was strange then giving orders to the tunnelers is even stranger. Their lives are an enigma to Bluepool, but Scorchstreak was helping her learn. She could listen to her speak enthusiastically about the various projects and patrols they were embarking on all day. Her eyes find the red and black molly and they soften for a moment in her presence "Scorchstreak, I want you, Marmotbite, Sootspot and Mouseflight to continue working on the tunnel to RiverClan, please be careful" the last part is accompanied by a silent desperate plea to the stars to please keep Scorchstreak and her patrol safe.

"And finally, Rattelheart, leaf-bare is almost over but we're not in the clear yet. I need you to take Rabbitclaw, Cygnetstare and Bluefrost and hunt in the tunnels." if any prey was hiding from the cold it would be down there. She would not argue that the tunnelers were a valuable resource in the clan, especially in the harsher moons. "Anyone who was not named, there are plenty of things to be done yet. If you're looking for work to keep your paws busy come find me and I'll give you some" and with that, she dismisses those gathered with a flick of her scrappy tail.

Featherpaw was glad to have left the medicine den, though seeing Bluepool handing off patrols twisted her stomach a little. Of course she was not the deputy, not yet- who knew how long it would be until his father named one- but the mere spark of imagining it made Featherpaw the tiniest bit uneasy. What a horrendous hairball of expectation that would be. Son of the leader, tutored by his deputy, genetically imbued with some... holy connection, with medicine cat blood too.

It was not reality, though. And Featherpaw was sure, if he was as diligent as ever, he would seize those expectations and brandish them above his head, like an enemy's heart ripped from out of their ribs.

He said nothing- sun-glare eyes affixed upon his mentor instead, sharp and searching. As ever, he was ready when she was... to ThunderClan. His nose wrinkled in disgust- he hoped he didn't run into that awful, pitchy-voiced speckled one again.

AS HE RAISED HIS FIST BEFORE HE SPOKE — Had it been half a moon already? It certainly hadn't felt like it, but Rattleheart had recently become intimately familiar with just how fast time could pass when you were engaged with something. Each passing morning and night reminded him that they were edging ever-closer to a full moon since Soot and her loyalists had been overthrown, and that somehow felt impossible when he thought of everything that had happened. Perhaps she would become ancient history sooner than even he had hoped for - a future that would certainly bring relief to most, if not all of them.

He was painfully aware of the fact that he would be next up on the chopping block for handing out patrols, though it was a shock to find that he wasn't actually all that worried about it. He had the example of both his sister and Bluepool to follow, and he was surrounded by cats that he - for the most part - trusted with his life. It wouldn't be difficult to trust them with patrols too, provided he made sure to be careful with who he decided to assign to what. He cringed to think of what could happen if he tossed the wrong combination together on a patrol to one of the other clans, like sticking Sedgepounce and Snakehiss together for some kind of ticking time bomb. At least his fellow lead warrior also seemed aware of that, none of the assignments setting off alarm bells in his head or really drawing his attention until his name was called.

A hunting patrol - and one stacked with cats he really had no trouble working with. Though the list of those that he did have trouble working with was at least fairly short these days. He just hoped the rest of the patrol wouldn't look too harshly in Bluefrost's direction, Rattleheart knowing his fellow tunneler was still under heavy - if understandable - scrutiny. The darkness of the tunnels would be a boon for once, it seemed. "This shouldn't be too bad, I've been noticing more prey scents around lately. If anything the hardest part will be prey moving out of the tunnels now that it's starting to get warmer." A positive thing overall, but admittedly a blow that made him feel a little less useful than usual. "We'll head out once everyone is fed." It was odd, he found himself actually starting to get used to this whole authority thing.

Not enough that anxiety had fled fully from his mind, but enough that he at least wasn't stumbling with anxiety on the spot.

༄༄ It is Bluepool’s turn to assign the day’s patrols, and Scorchstreak comes padding over at the other lead warrior’s first call. She offers Bluepool a small smile when her own name is announced, but she can hardly hold her tongue when Sootspot’s name is called just after. Why him?! Marmotbite and Mouseflight are capable enough warriors—though the calico doubts Marmotbite’s loyalty—but Sootspot… Her eyes narrow, golden slits focusing in on her friend, before her gaze softens once more. She’d purposefully assigned Sootspot to a different patrol from hers when she’d been the one doing the assigning, but now it seems she has no choice in the matter. With a flicker of her tail, she turns to seek out each of her accompanying patrol members in the crowd. "We leave soon," she states, and then she turns her gaze onto her apprentice. "Do you look forward to digging through the clay, Pinkpaw?" She believes that she already knows the answer that she’ll receive. Pinkpaw is almost certainly not going to like the day’s digging at all.

// apprentice tag @PINKPAW

It's super duper weird. Even when she thinks she's maybe getting used to the apprentice thing that is getting up way too early to listen to a cat telling them what to do — and getting used to no Sootstar, and being in camp again at all... it's still weird for the cat saying all the stuff to not be Sunstride... star. Pinkpaw was pretty sure he was gonna be deputy forever. But apparently he was never deputy forever. Maybe Pinkpaw knew that already, and then she forgot? either way, it's weird.

She's so busy thinking about how weird at is that she doesn't even hear what the heck Bluepool says. She's smart enough to guess she and Scorchstreak were gonna dooooo... something! And she guessed right, go her! " Okay, " she hums. Apparently Sootspot's coming with them. Soot is like, totally a bad guy name, right? Plus he's Sootstar's kit! Pinkpaw shoots a very fierce glare at him. And then she remembers that Bluefrost is Sootstar's kit too and they're best friends basically. And Bluepool is Sootstar's sister and she's not evil... So she guesses it's not so suspicious. Maybe Sootspot will be her next best friend!

She turns to Scorchstreak, ears pricked. " Cuh - layyyy? " she repeats, trying to remember what that even is. And then – " The hardest dirt in the world? Nooo! " she whines.

—— SHE / HER; UNOPPOSED TO THE USE OF OTHERS
—— CURRENTLY 6 MOONS OLD. AGES EVERY 16TH

A tiny, longhaired calico she - kit with sunburst eyes ringed blue around her pupils (central heterochromia). While you can clearly see her flame markings on her face, the rest of her body is currently covered by a grey fever - coating. Though the whites of her are still very much visible. Pinkpaw bounces around WindClan without a care in the world! Her emotions are big, and she makes little effort to regulate them, resulting in both her usually cheerful disposition, as well as making her prone to sudden bouts of extreme anger or sadness. Rarely seen without a smile!
HEAVY IC OPINIONS! Pinkpaw is a very irrational and childish character!

Bluepool calls for patrols, and periwinklebreeze is quick to pad over - blue eyes flashing as his own name is called. He doesn't think he'll ever get used to it - being trusted with leading patrols. Head nods and tail flicks - the riverclan border is by far periwinklebreeze's least favorite to visit, memories of past confrontations haunting him every times he wanders past. But it's a job that has to be done, and so he'll do it. At least he can take comfort in the fact that Gravelsnap is on patrol with him.
