YOU ALWAYS SAID HOW YOU LIKE DOGS

"the murderers are still here, what are we supposed to do about it? our other clanmates are save but I hardly trust a cat willing to kill another for where or how they were born!"

they snort, fur fluffing up. their claws seem to knead into the ground. being a warrior meant now that they did not need to heed to the authority of other warriors. they can easily talk about this. they can easily strike up the conversation.

"we need to do something. this is getting mousebrained! whoevers doing this clearly isn't going to stop just at kittypets! there's just no way! why would they? if they're willing to kill a thunderclanner born from inside a twoleg nest, who's to say they will stop at just that? what about cats born outside the clan taken in young? or cats who just have even a little bit of kittypet blood in them? we are warriors now! we can't become a clan like windclan!"

stagsnarl– wow, that is certainly going to take some getting used to– addresses the newer warriors. all of this inner turmoil... all this infighting... she does not like most cats within the clan, but she is loyal. she'd never kill another who proclaims to be a thunderclanner. that was disloyal. dishonest. unworthy of any clan. she fully believes that if a cat is willing to kill one clanmate, it will always be willing to kill another.

// tldr: this takes place a day after the meeting !! they're just discussing all the murderers ! mostly talking to newer warriors but anyone is welcome ! the purpose of the thread is to spread a bit of hysteria!!

There’s an irritated flick of her tail as she considers Stagsnarl’s words, they’re right, no matter what whoever tried to poison those kits are still here. Unless it was an ex-kittypet who really needed to work on their self hatred issues, whoever it was was still here. Who’s to say just one person tried it? Maybe there were complicit witnesses, were they just as responsible? “You don’t think they’ll stop at just kittypets?” She frowns, it had been something she had considered but the shake in their tone indicated that the reality had sunk in.

Any one of them could be in danger right now. She could think of solutions, there were probably a few that everyone had considered, but what good are concepts when action needed to be taken. “Is anything being done about it? Apart from just… Moving our clanmates?” How unfair was that anyways? Houndshade had always played the part of the gossip well and she fell into that role perfectly in that moment. A frown tugs at her maw as she speaks, low and conspiratorial.

How can they be expected to just… continue on after all this? How can they trust that any of the prey will be safe if these fox-hearts aren’t satisfied with just those born from Twoleg nests? How could they sleep? Go on patrols, do anything? Kits had been targeted, those who were capable in the clan were sworn to protect, if that’s happening then clearly anything was possible.

"Of course they won't stop until they're made to. What's your point?" Coalpaw's tone was strained as he approached both Stagsnarl and Houndshade, bushy tail lashing back and forth as he pondered the subject of conversation. A part of him would have delighted in presenting the two warriors with a solution - he could show off wisdom in spite of his age, and keep the rest of Thunderclan safe in one fell swoop. Unfortunately, the entire situation didn't have a simple solution. If it did, Howlingstar and her council surely would have put a plan into action already.

Which was why he was so frustrated by simple talk about it, claws sinking easily down into the earth as the new apprentice settled down nearby.

Is there anything being done about it? Houndshade's question echoed in his mind, Coalpaw's attention lingering on the nearby camp entrance. The one that they had been forced to send plenty of loyal clanmates out of, just so that their safety could actually be ensured. Even now, all he wanted to do was let sturdy legs carry him out to where he could call for them. Tell them to come home. Bayingkit's desperate pleas joined Houdnshade's voice in his mind, and he could suddenly starkly understand the younger cat's despair. "Maybe we shouldn't have made them leave. Maybe instead those that should've been forced to leave was anyone who has shared the same thoughts as the cats that were already exiled." A harsh punishment for idle, bigoted gossip? Perhaps, but the burly smoke found that he didn't particularly care.

At least then it would feel like some sense of justice had been served.

a new apprentice of thunderclan, coalpaw is currently one of the youngest of his rank at six moons. he is being mentored by burnstorm, and is on track to graduate alongside his brother. an abrasive and intensive rule follower, he is fiercely loyal to thunderclan and working to honor his fallen parents.

Murder was a new word to Wolfpaw's ears, acrid, like out-of-date prey or a herb one wasn't supposed to eat. They had avoided most discussions of it within the safety of the Nursery, but no longer protected by a mother and father, they had begun to learn that ThunderClan was not always as nice as they wished it to be. An uncomfortable feeling settled within their gut whenever they heard others speak of it, dipping out of conversations quickly and struggling to commit to one answer when everyone expected a different one. One particular conversation was louder than the rest, with more voices speaking up, and so close to where their escape was, Wolfpaw could do little else but listen and allow that knot to twist once more in their belly. The word kittypet hits over and over again like a cuffing paw, but the cameo sepia had never seen a kittypet before - they'd only seen ThunderClanners, where they came from before mattered little to one who knew nothing of strife.

'They won't stop at kittypets... what can be done... maybe we should exile kittypet haters instead...' Their head quietly twisted about, looking at each discussion member with an increasingly confused gaze. "I don't understand," they admitted within a conversational gap, a tepid frown upon their pointed muzzle. "We don't have kittypets in ThunderClan... do we? No one wears a collar, or goes away at night..." They recalled what had been said about SkyClan, the Daylight Warriors, an ungraspable concept for someone who had never seen anything but the four walls of camp and all its inhabitants. "Yet everyone's speaking like we do... and that it's a good or a bad thing... I don't..." They shook their head, brows squeezing closer together as if trying to manifest a coherent point. Try as they might, they couldn't. How could something that did not exist be good or bad? Was everyone making it up? Or did one's past matter more than their present? They fell upon their haunches, hoping someone would explain it, hoping they could figure it out for themselves, just... hoping for something other than the fog of uncertainty.

"Maybe we just need to start making sense."

Tybalt's ears swiveled towards the conversation as Wolfpaw spoke, the younger cat confused by all the fuss. "Of course we don't," he answered. "Kittypets belong in Twolegplace. Or maybe SkyClan if they want to come and go as they please." His wavy-furred tail twitched irritably as he spoke. "But every cat in ThunderClan pulls their own weight and works hard to keep everyone fed and looked after. Where a cat was born shouldn't make any difference. If they're so mad about kittypet-borns, who's to say they aren't just as bothered by former rogues or loners? Or half-clan cats? Every cat has to start somewhere, and ThunderClan didn't always have its borders."

"If you get rid of every cat who wasn't born in ThunderClan, it'd wither away like a fallen leaf," the tom rumbled disapprovingly. "I was born in Twolegplace. I grew up there. My family just didn't have twolegs looking after us, so we looked after ourselves. What difference does being born inside or outside a twoleg den make as long as our clanmates are doing their jobs now?"
