SOOTSTAR

Sootstar is a tiny, long-haired, black smoke she-cat with green eyes.
Sootstar was the first leader of WindClan. Originally named Soot, she was born in the Marsh Colony to Pebble Breeze and Soot Claw alongside her two sisters, Blue and Mint. In the Great Battle against the Pine Colony, Soot showed no reluctance to support her colony and fatally wounded Marigold. She was among the first cats who took initiative to heed StarClan's word, naming her own group WindClan and claiming the moorland as their territory. Once settled in the moorland she gave birth to two kits, Sootkit and Cloudedkit.
After receiving nine lives from StarClan and being recognized as WindClan's leader, Sootstar ruled with an iron paw. Convinced that she needed to maintain a strict grip on her clan to prevent internal dissent, she implemented a harsh regime. Kits were apprenticed at the young age of three moons, and she encouraged mentors and apprentices to train with unsheathed claws. All of her council members, except for medicine cats, were required to demonstrate their devotion by allowing her to scar them across the chest. She developed a relationship with Weaselclaw and took him as a mate. Together they had five kits, Moorkit, Adderkit, Harrierkit, Bluekit, and Cottonkit.
With her cruelty towards her own Clan and her constant provoking of other Clans, StarClan orders Sootstar to change her ways. Despite previously being devout to them, she feels betrayed and refuses them. StarClan closes communication with Sootstar and sends a bolt of lightning at her paws during the Gathering. She threatens Vulturemask, her current medicine cat, to help her in manipulating her clan to believe it was a sign of power.
She holds a tight grip on her Clan through manipulation and fear until one of her final deputies, Sunstride, revolts against her. While she maintains power over a sizable amount of loyalists, Sunstride and his rebels inevitably overpower her. In her final moments as WindClan's leader, she names Granitepelt her new deputy and he leads them to the loner lands to create DuskClan.
Sunstride keeps her as prisoner, though it is soon decided they cannot keep her alive. He kills her, causing the Place of No Stars to be born. It is there she spends the rest of her days, hungry for revenge.

In tales queens tell their kits she might take the appearance of a big cat with a well-muscled body that could take on nearly any cat in the forest. However, nursery tales are often misleading… The most shocking thing about Sootstar's appearance is her minuscule size. She's tiny, hardly bigger than an apprentice on their third moon of training. She's a good lesson on how size doesn't equate to ferociousness.
Ugly with stained yellow teeth and curled claws, the queens might've told you. Yet again they've led you astray. Before she had a chance to be known for her cruelty she was known for her beauty. Pretty, long fur drapes from her slender body. Though blue in color, the top of her head, back, and tail is smudged with black. Her long cheek tufts are streaked #615466 along with her thick-furred chest that leads down to her belly.
Technically: LH blue smoke with green eyes and low #615466.
Scars gained:
- A gaping hole in her throat given by Sunstar when he killed her. It is eternally open, never to heal in the afterlife.
Body Language
While once prim and proper in the living world, her appearance has significantly deteriorated in the afterlife—maybe she does look as ugly now as the queen's describe her. Twitchy and always unable to sit still, Sootstar looks as if she's always paranoid someone is watching her. The lids of her eyes regularly twitch and she occasionally lets out senseless cackles. -
Sootstar is cruel and vindictive. Behind every step she makes and every word she speaks is an underlying motive to get what she wants. Her ambition to rule the forest has carried over into the afterlife, hoping that one day the Dark Forest will hold a stronger influence over the Clans than StarClan themselves.
Highly manipulative, she will lie to get what she wants. Sootstar may claim that she loves, has feelings, and cares, but she is incapable of truly loving and caring for anyone but herself. If an intelligent cat found Sootstar being nice to them, they'd run, for that is the first sign she is trying to wrap her tendrils around you, and once she does there's no telling how far she'll pull you down.
Faith
Sootstar hates StarClan. She blames them for why she's fallen so far down. She believes they betrayed her when they told her to cease leading with an iron, cruel paw; believing all the evils she committed had been for the Clan's best interest. She seeks to destroy them and actively plots their downfall.
Quirks
- Grows twitchy when she lies, which is generally all the time
- Licks her lips when talking to cats as if they're a piece of prey

Sootstar is heterosexual and monogamous. She is mates with Weaselclaw and is uninterested in being romantically involved with anyone else.
- Does not trust nor makes friends easily, she prefers solitude or the occasional presence of her mate.
- Will not walk with most other Dark Forest cats. An incredibly rare sighting.
