[MAPLETUFT]

Salamandersnap has been all frayed nerves lately, and though its been a year and then some since she had been her mentor... Mapletuft feels some semblance of responsibility towards her. Perhaps its only natural to feel responsibility over your former apprentice (more so, she feels her stomach twisting inside when she thinks of Acorntail) but there was no way she was going to let Salamander make a fool out of both of them. Was Mapletufts teachings of respecting authority forgotten?

She breathes out heavy when she approaches her apprentice, frustration and pity swarming her head. "Salamandersnap," she begins, brown eyes squinting down upon the warrior as she lays. "Why must you insist on starting fights...?" though her voice is soft, theres something sharp within it, a deep-rooted frown upon her lips. "Mirepurr just needs time," its almost helpful, but shes torn between the kit that had helped raise their siblings and the kit that had eventually became her apprentice. She gets it, truly, being so on edge with Smogstars disappearance... But there was no way in Starclan that she would let someone drive Mirepurr in to a crown that they weren't ready for yet. "They will rise to leadership when they're ready. We don't know anything regarding Smogstars disappearance, so I would refrain from talking like you do." she narrows her eyes- of course she'd hear about this, when Salamandersnap was one of the more opinionated ones in camp.

An ear flicks idly in response as her former mentor moves to join her. Her comment catches her by slight surprise, "How much time can we really give them? How long before Shadowclan falls apart waiting for them to step up?" Did Mapletuft really think it was okay for the clan to sit around waiting for Mirepurr to become Mirestar? Was it not selfish of them to only be thinking of themselves right now? Electing to ignore the comment about her starting fights (it wasn't her fault others were rubbed the wrong way, she wasn't trying to start fights) she instead focuses on the next comment out of the older woman's maw.

"Is that what's the best for the clan? Shouldn't a leader focus on that rather than themselves?" She couldn't believe that Mapletuft couldn't see her side of this, the important side. "Am I so wrong for voicing my own opinion? My own feelings, when the entire clan is doing the same? I won't admit any fault for that." Her tail lashes behind her as her eyes narrow, but she makes no move to go against her former mentor other than verbal disagreement.

How much time can we really give them? Mapletuft sighs. "Just enough." her tailtip twitches ever so slightly. "We have a council to help in their absence... I'm sure Smogstar felt just as nervous as Mirepurr does." she highly doubts Smogstar had felt nervous, he had always been surefire and steadfast in his beliefs...

"Your opinion is your own, so no, you're not wrong. Your opinion is important, thats what I taught you." she remembers that... And perhaps, just maybe, this is why Salamandersnap has become so opinionated in the recent days, emboldened by what is going on. "But I also told you there is a time and place. How do you think Smogstars children feel about you saying he's just... gone? They need time to grieve, like Shadowclan needs time to recover." when she had lost Midnightcall her world had fell apart, still taking care of her kits, of the kits that needed someone to look after her... They were supposed to do it together and then he just... Died. Like that, gone forever without a goodbye.

She cannot imagine the grief they are going through.

"I'm just saying to be kinder with it." she reiterates. "Shadowclan will have a leader when the time calls for it."

Her tail lashes behind her as she exhales, shaking her head at her former mentor's words. "When is the right time then? When the clan begins to fall apart without a leader? When the other clans prey on us for being viewed as weak without a leader?" She couldn't wrap her head around how Mapletuft couldn't see the problem with this! Sure she could probably be kinder in the way she went about it. But she was angry, and the clan needed to open their eyes and see the truth. Staying blind to the truth wasn't doing anyone any favors.
