camp QUIET ON THE FRONT — hide the pebble

Watching the kits try and come up with games to play in the nursery earlier that morning gave Little Wolf an idea for a game, one that she used to play with her previous litter. She would take a pebble and hide it somewhere in the camp, then she would tell her kits that they had to go find it and whoever won got the first bite of dinner that night or they got to keep the pebble if it was cool. This time, Little Wolf plans on letting all the kits play and apprentices too if they wanted so she makes sure to find a cool looking rock for this game. She hopes that and the idea of passing some time is enough to incentivize the kits of the clan to search for it.

"okay guys! Gather round! Somewhere in this camp I’ve hidden a pebble, first one to find it and bring it to me gets to keep it!" she announces to whatever young clan members may be in range. She had specifically tried to choose a time when most warriors would be out of the camp so as they didn’t have to worry about tripping over any little ones that would be scampering about.

// the hiding areas are as follows

1. under the root of a tree stump
2. in the tall grass by the camp wall
3. in a clump of ferns by the camp entrance
4. tucked in a pile of moss next to the nursery
5. in a small hollow carved into a stump that’s next to the apprentice den
6. in the roots of the fallen tree that makes up the elders den
7. behind high rock
8. In a small crack at the base of a large rock
9. In a shallow dip in the ground next to the warriors den
10. Behind a small clump of brambles next to the fresh kill pile

I will be rolling to see where Little Wolf has hidden the pebble and the winner will receive a headshot or chibi done by me! This is open to cats of all ages but I would prefer if warriors just watched as this is more geared to kits and going apprentices, thank you! This won’t be the last time I do something like this if it has a good turn out!

War weighin' on my heart but I can't fall
He awakes to the distinct scent of dried herbs and the sound of a voice ringing throughout camp. Grey eyes peer across camp as Silverlightning remains tucked with his temporary nest. Although his wounds seemed to be healing fine Berryheart wanted to keep a close eye on him due to the chills he still received here and there. Quietly he shifts, moving to rest his head upon gunmetal tinted paws as Littlewolf explains the rules of her game. It sounded like a pastime Mousepaw would enjoy participating in and he briefly wondered if his apprentice would take part of the challenge. "Good luck to those involved." Silver voices from within the medicine den, nestling deeper to retain his warmth.
Seekin' shelter from the storm on this blank road

Little Wolf's call finds her youngest daughter in the middle of a mossball game. Distracted by the call and snapping to attention immediately, Skykit follows through a little too far and launches the scrap of moss at her mother. Whether or not it connects is up to fate, but ears fall flat in shock and the little tortie scampers over. "Sorry! I didn't mean it! Are you okay?"

After checking that her mother is alright, and not dying from the moss' brutal attack, Skykit perks back up at the idea of finding a pebble. "Okay! What does it look like, ma?"

A few moments later with a description in tow, bolstered by Silverlightning's encouragement, Skykit makes a beeline for where she'd found those cobwebs a few days earlier. Tucked up against the tunnel leading to Berryheart's den, Skykit pokes her nose into the crack of the big stone. While there's no cobwebs here this time, disappointing, does she feel the scrape of a pebble against the larger stone?

"Skykit, wait!" comes the call right after her sister leaves her. She'd been involved in the game of mossball, of course, but the loss of their toy isn't nearly so bothersome as the loss of their littermate. Dark legs carry her quickly along, though too-large paws threaten to send her tumbling once more when she reaches top speed. Luckily she manages to save herself from such by bouncing into Skykit instead, a soft, "Oof!" mumbled out before she once again focuses on Little Wolf. A game? With the reward being...a pebble! How exciting! She had just been mourning her own lack of an interesting pebble, seeing as her last one had conveniently disappeared in a nest shuffle (probably because, in reality, it was just a particularly tough clump of dirt).

"I'm gonna find it first!" Duskkit shouts, and is immediately off. It only occurs to him some moments later that she would need to actually think of somewhere to go.... Where else would someone hide something important, than by where the leader does their announcements? Duskkit scampers around Highrock in search of the stone, eventually finding her nose pressed to a small cluster of stones just behind it. Surely it would be there.

Stormkit's ears pricked up at the sound of Little Wolf's call. The dark she-cat had been like a second mother to her. It was difficult to not find admiration for the queen who had kept her and her brother safe during the dog attack on camp. She admired Little Wolf and always heeded her word when it was given to her.

As such, Stormkit padded over with soft little paw steps, quieter than her denmates. Normally a pebble would not attract her attention—she liked feathers and soft furs—but the description made it seem tempting enough. Stormkit's eyes gleamed with a competitive glint to them and she turned around to dart off toward the clump of ferns by the camp entrance, sniffing loudly with her whiskers twitching.

Little Wolf is delighted when her own kits join the scurry to find the pebble, she watches with shining green eyes as they scamper from one corner to another, searching. She suspects that later, her plan would pay off and they would be worn out later from running about the camp, ducking under nooks and crannies, using their brains to try and pick out where exactly she had hidden it. Flamewhisker would be thanking her later too, Stormkit is seemed had been drawn in as well.

"No luck yet… keep searching!" she calls out to the disappointed faces she is sure will turn to her when they realize they had not uncovered a pebble in their hiding spots.

// anyone can post twice and guess again!

Aw, no luck. Skykit screws up her face thoughtfully as she backs out of the little crack, green eyes narrowed as they survey the camp ... and land on the fresh kill pile. She brightens, streaking across the clearing - and slows to a halt, staring at the fresh-kill pile. Oh, maybe it's under the brambles. Skykit pokes her face into the bramble clump, immediately recoiling. Maybe that movement would cause a small pebble to roll back into the open.

"Ow! Mama, I got a bramble poke!" She wails, scampering back to her mother. It hasn't even broken the skin, but her eyes are wide and watery as she presses against Little Wolf's side.
