  • Trailing the dotted patches of trees and reeds, the mid-day bird song is a hymn of spring-time joy. For all their losses and suffering in seasons past, the sun has found them again; Hazecloud was more of the poetic type, if her carefully woven description for Horizonkit's name was any indicator, and it served as a gentle humming reminder anytime stress pulled her muscles taut. They could afford to relax... and enjoy the space they lived in without fear of threat and in part, that meant fostering old friendships, growing new ones... digging her teeth into the heart of her clan knowing the responsibility of its survival to be heavier on her shoulders than most others.

"Sleep well," she asks, floundering for a conversational starter despite her company being one of the most honey-sweet toms she'd ever met. It was hard to ignore the new trajectory his life was taking- between two sisters fostering their own families and a leap of faith made into the nest closest to his, Ferngill was not bored it seemed. She hops thoughtlessly onto a tree stump, pale eyes trailing the rings that count years of growth before its untimely fall- had the winter weakened it? Is that why the trunk lay across the beaten path with moss crawling along its shadowed sides?

A vibrating sound hisses at her ears but it is hard to make out above the sound of the distant babbling river- "I could... hear you purring... all night!" Not unalike Snakeblink whenever he had someone to warm his fur beside too... though she suspects this is a little more romantically involved than that.

Like Lichentail, he was glad to see the spring again. The blooming of flowers, and the blooming of something anew- he could not deny his new happiness. Or, really, the way that it glowed off of him like a wildfire- anyone could tell something had changed, even if they hadn't heard the rumours or looked his way in the warrior's den. Ferngill's at her question; cheerily, and without much thought, he answered, "Really well, thanks."

There was no point in hiding it; he didn't really want to, anyway. Though- ugh, there was something pecking away at the brain nearby. Or... buzzing at the brain, he supposed. "I've been sleeping much better since Sablemist and I..." It was obvious where he was going, but it wasn't by virtue of mystery that he trailed off. No, it was... very clear and relentless distraction, rising in sound above the rippling movement of the river. Concern flooded his single eye then, and Ferngill set a vaguely afraid, more-so confused glance upon the deputy.

"Where is that coming from?" he declared, attention bouncing back and forth- it was bees, but where? His fur fluffed up a little in alarm as the noise began to rise, louder and louder, drowning out his thoughts. It was then that he noticed a clump of... wax or something, vibrating angrily, moving not far from where Lichentail stood. Gripped with obvious, sudden panic, Ferngill could not think better of yelling, "Bees!" before the word came tumbling out of his mouth. Bees, and- and he hadn't done much to calm them down by yelling probably.

-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- A grimace was stuck on the toms face as he dragged his paws behind the deputy and her lead. Eventually he took to maintaining some distance between them so he didn't have to gag between every sweet-sapped sentence between them. He went about shoving himself under some brush behind where Lichentail sat, pretending to look for something.

They continued to chat between themselves, voices growing further distant and when Otterbite pulled himself from the greenery his nose was coated in dirt and knocked some twigs onto his head. Otherwise, though, things were quiet... Peaceful. Would it last? Apparently not.

Bees! Ferngill had shouted and Otterbite whipped his head around to see for himself. Then he saw it, a cloudburst of angered buzzing rise and float off the ground.

"Don't just stand there, Fernstump, run!" Otterbite hissed as he felt his fur begin to prickle at the sound. He didn't hesitate to bolt away, though a bitter sting popped off his year and he bucked his hind legs in retaliation. "Ack, OUCH!" The river- the river!

The second water came into his sight he dove through the surface and dunked his head beneath the water, teeth clenched as he held his breath.

A fish laid limp in patched feline's jaws, taking quick and lengthy strides in direction of camp but her paws were quiet as to not disturb hunted prey. The hustle bustle of spring was enough to bring even the tougher energy's into bloom of appreciation. Besides the pollen and flies, spring was well awaited. Soon the rocks would become warmer and the rays would be bathing them in hotter rays, Petalnose clung to Iciclefang's jest of Sunningrocks. It would only be better if that territory was in their claws.

Sudden buzzing rose into the distance and Petalnose stopped in her tracks as the sight was beheld in front of her. The community of insects buzzed angerly and charged her clanmates. Bees. Just what her clanmates shrieked about. They weren't something to fight in such a big group. Even the fight seeker didn't see it worth it. It was just best to run for the waters. Her gaze averted to her clanmate's, standing back in case she needed to herd them away. Besides, their attention wasn't on her yet but she gave a silent flick of her head with alarmed eyes toward Lichentail to retreat with the two. Soon their attention will be on her as well. She searched for any laggers and then bolted to the water herself, dropping the fish on the land to shout, "Follow Otterbite!" A single sting wasn't a big deal but many at once was an issue, paralyzing even, is what she heard. Thankfully, she never had to learn that by experience.
