private RHINESTONE EYES \ apprentice ceremony

/ very very late retro thread :') @HAILSTORM.

Blood beaded along his shoulder, a scar newly pried apart by filthy claws- but he was safe, in one piece, with his apprentice at his side. Cloudy earned a quick glance of approval from him as they broke through the entrance to Mothermouth, their pursuers shaken off and their guards stationed at the entrance. They would not get to spend the night in StarClan's care, but they would at least be able to speak to them; Berryheart could not help the silvery breath of relief that slid through his crooked jaw when he saw the soft glow of the Moonstone, pulsing with the spirits of their loved ones.

A soft smile upon lopsided features, he looked upon his protege for a few long moments. A breath; the words flowed to him slowly, a dredged-up memory. Glimmering, intelligent eyes of an apprentice lost flickered like dead stars in his memory, but he called his attention to settle only upon his new apprentice. "Is it your wish to walk the path of a medicine cat?"

The most direct question, the final chance to back out. The beauty of the Moonstone occurred not to Berryheart, enchanted light becoming normal- he waited patiently, regularly, still.

I SEE A SONG OF PAST ROMANCE — His own wound is crusted with dry blood and the way it stains his coat like crimson on snow makes his stomach lurch but he walks alongside his mentor only thankful that all of them had lived and managed to overcome the Windclanners, they had fled. Thunderclan had won this once but still he would feel good about this victory against Sootstar's mindless workers. He holds his breath as they step into the heart of Highstones taking in the sight with respectful silence and the snowy giant feels his breath finally slip from his own jaws then found his own smile as he looks to Berryheart. His gaze locked onto the Moonstone as hope made his belly flutter with several little butterflies, a chance to see star pelted warriors that had passed if they accept him just as his mentor had.

Berryheart speaks once more receiving his attention once more and the question if it's his wish to walk the path of a medicine cat, he thinks about if inky short fur pressed against his own now... Would he still follow such a path or would he go on as a warrior? It doesn't matter now. He can't linger on what ifs when his future had changed since his announcement to the clan of being the new medicine cat apprentice and even if this was the final chance to back out of such a fate. Hailstorm did not feel his decision had swayed in the slightest even with the scuffle of Windclan warriors it had only made him stronger and solidified his decision.

"It is." He says.

Not for a second had he doubted Cloudy's conviction. There had been steady certainty n the large tom's eyes when Berryheart had first extended his offer, and he was staunchly glad that he had stuck by his word. It was necessary for someone to succeed him; someone who revered StarClan for the loved ones that roamed there, someone who had a genuine passion for healing. A connection. Berryheart blinked warmly, gaze glazed with gratitude. Flicking his speckled tail, he turned his face back to the moonstone as Cloudy's words of acceptance pulsed through the air.

The stars were listening- and he would speak.

"StarClan, I present you with my apprentice." He turned to the gentle light of the Moonstone, breathing in the silver threads, his soul reached toward and touched. Fingers of starlight would find Cloudy, soon enough- he wondered, could his apprentice feel the pulse of the spirits already? Could he feel the cold fire of their eyes on his back? "He has chosen this path. Grant him your wisdom and insight, so that he may understand your ways and heal his Clan."

Ringing words glowed silver. Lopsided eyes moved again to settle on Cloudy, and a snow-toed paw motioned toward the stone- he beckoned his apprentice, stepping toward the frigid crystal. Dreams took Berryheart the moment his nose touched the Moonstone, his body growing dead-still, his mind whipped away to StarClan's land. He could only hope that his apprentice had followed his lead.
