SHADOWCLAN MENTOR & APPRENTICE TRACKER
  • Welcome to ShadowClan's base of operations for mentors and apprentices! Here, characters will be paired together based on activity level and skill sets, both for backwritten pairings and upcoming ones with each meeting. Once your character has been added to the tracker, you can head over to the Discord to plot things out, or you can wait to be assigned one ICly.

The list below includes all active character pairings, including NPC mentorships. This list will be updated as often as possible, in order to keep things up-to-date.

Make sure to read through all the rules before filling out a form, but otherwise have fun!

  • RULES
✷ Your character must be on the census before signing up. Falling off and becoming inactive will likely result in your character getting removed from this list — we will always ask however, before reassigning inactive pairings!
✷ IC expectations apply. Newly made warriors must wait one month IRL before being assigned an apprentice, and Ternstar will not double-up unless either extremely low on mentors or she feels a mentor to be experienced enough to handle two apprentices at once. Some mentors may be blacklisted from apprentices (temporarily or permanently) following IC consequences — this will always be something discussed, but please bear in mind Ternstar's leadership rules and expectations!
✷ Please only apply for a played mentorship if you intend to see it through to the end! Short-term plots are allowed but please disclose this somewhere in your form, or with the mentor/apprentice you're assigned to!

  • MENTORS

    SNOWLARK | active (15+)
✷ Snowlark is on the more sterner side of things and will make sure his apprentice stays dutiful while also teaching them respect and hunting as well as ambushing skills
    — first time mentor
    — currently mentoring Frozenpaw; available to double up

    SNEEZEDUCK | casual (10-20)
✷ A careful and calculated mentor, struggling to strike a balance between empathy and tough-love. Like his mentor before him, he will emphasize survival as a priority, using it as a motivation for his apprentice to learn to hunt and fight. Views the relationship between mentor-apprentice as something deep and valuable that nothing else comes close to, and will seek to form a bond with his apprentice, though his love is ultimately conditional; if the apprentice doesn't meet his standards, reminds him a little too much of himself, or behaves irresponsibly, they will quickly earn his ire and a cold shoulder.
    — first time mentor
    — currently mentoring icypaw; available to double up

    SHARPSHADOW | active (15+)
✷ Her first mentor instilled her with a lot of high-pressure, high-expectation trad skewing beliefs that she hasn't shaken off to this day. At times they're a bit at odds with what she'd like to believe, but generally, Shadowclan's environment has reinforced many of these for her over the years. Prioritizes giving his apprentices the tools to survive in what he essentially sees as a death trap of a territory. Makes some amount of effort to be emotionally available to mostly middling levels of success. Expresses his care through actions more than he ever will words.
    — experienced mentor
    — any apprentices must graduate on or before June 2025

    SINGEGLARE | moderate
✷ Singeglare will take to his first apprentice with unbridled enthusiasm! His goal is to mold another little fighter out of the tyke and encourage them to be the best of the best! Still, being a first-time trainer, Singeglare will undeniably trip over himself trying to teach a curriculum he only ever half paid attention to. It doesn't help that he's not the greatest people person and may occasionally butt heads with a youth he isn't prepared to hear talk back or question his motives. Still, Singeglare is never one to back down from a challenge and will do his best to learn alongside his apprentice. For all Singeglare's faults, he'll bestow a powerful sense of loyalty and honor in his apprentice and encourage them through all their shortcomings.
    — first time mentor

    SHALESTORM | moderate (10-15)
✷ Shalestorm has a very friendly and nurturing approach to mentoring, she isn't overly tough on apprentices and she enjoys teaching through play, especially with brand new apprentices, as younger cats seem more inclined to respond positively to play. She wants her apprentice to view her not only as a mentor, but as a friend, someone who they can come to if they find themselves in trouble or if they've done something wrong.
✷ Though not the strictest mentor, Shalestorm isn't against a tough lesson or two, though she prefers to do double training if something might require a 'bad cop' to her 'good cop'. She's soft, but not a pushover, and quite stubborn! You don't want to do this hunting lesson? That's fine, but we're gonna sit here until you catch something even if it takes three days. Or you can go ahead and check all the elders for ticks, your choice!
    — has trained one apprentice
    — open to doubling up only as a last resort

    ✷ STONESTRIKE | casual
✷ Strict and militaristic. He's not going to be mean necessarily but to a new apprentice he may come off that way. He wants to give his apprentice the mentoring he craved, whether that is the correct choice I suppose is up to whoever becomes his apprentice. He will obviously teach hunting and tracking etc, but will be highly focused on battle training, as that is his specialty.
    — first time mentor
    currently unavailable due to illness

    APPRENTICES

    SILENTKIT | active
✷ Depending on who mentors him will determine his outcome. Someone patient and kind would help him come out of his shell and actually start to trust shadowclan. If he's given someone strict or mean he would turn more inside and be more sure of his belief that shadowclan plans on killing the pack. I am down for either option and can be discussed. I have 0 preference for either and am just here for the ride! He's going to be a difficult apprentice, especially starting out because he does not trust shadowclan right now and he is not really speaking either. So whoever he's paired with OOC should probably know about that and be willing to put up with him/me :' )
    — high activity mentor preferred
    — apprenticed at May meeting

  • BONEPAW | temporary ban
Stripped of warrior name and duties for losing Mercykit. Likely on probation for 2+ moons after being allowed to return to warrior duties.

    SWALLOWFLUTTER | temporary ban
Generally untrustworthy, has shown a penchant for violence towards her age mates and rebelion towards HP's. May be revised based on future behavior.

What kind of mentor are you after: someone who would match her energy (or exceed it) and wouldn't stifle her slightly quirky nature!!

og pairing didn't shake out (</3) so!
Character's Name: @GHOSTKIT
Activity Level: secondary (15-20 posts per month goal as an apprentice)
What kind of mentor are you after: anything works! ghostkit will be a super 'easy to have' and obedient apprentice at the surface level while being awful when she thinks nobody's looking lol. note she's getting apprenticed in i wanna say september? maybe

Character's Name: @Skunktail
Activity Level: Active (but fine with a casual apprentice)
What kind of mentor are you: Laidback, goes at the apprentice's pace, takes everything in stride while still being just strict enough to enforce learning at a proper rate. He's not a very pushy or bossy mentor, wants them to learn but doesn't want to push too hard. Kinda of a slacker, will use having an apprentice to get out of other things.
Traits you intend to pass down: Cunning and Confidence

Apprentice age in five days SO…
Character's Name: @Briarkit.
Activity Level: - secondary/active (10-15 posts a month)
What kind of mentor are you after: - Briarkit will respond the best to a stern, traditional mentor type that she feels can tap into her ambitious side and help her thrive, OOCly this means a character that commands respect and practices discipline. I imagine she could be pretty versatile though, and OOCly am open to any and all types of personalities ! ^^

Character's Name: @lilacfur
Activity Level: casual, roughly 5-10 posts a month
What kind of mentor are you: - honorable and kind. lilacfur gives room for harmless mistakes and is very encouraging for her apprentice to learn. she would have difficulty training a very stubborn apprentice as her first
Traits you intend to pass down: - hunting and endurance

Character's Name: @NETTLEKIT
Activity Level: fairly active, around 15 posts a month
What kind of mentor are you after: Nettlekit initially shows great potential, something his mentor should find appealing. He seems like he's going to be an easy apprentice to train- but soon Nettlekit will learn that he much prefers to slack off than dare to face the expectations that have built up. He won't take his training seriously at all and will require a mentor that will punish him/be hard on him for this behaviour- he'll probably clash a lot with his mentor, because he just will not be living up to his potential.

Character's Name: @NIGHTSWARM
Activity Level: Active (fine w/casual apprentice), roughly aiming for 15-20 or so posts a month
What kind of mentor are you: - Nightswarm isn't someone who takes slacking off lightly and will make sure to reprimand their apprentice over it, they want them to succeed and make something great of themselves (the apprentice) so it is easy to say that Nightswarm will have high expectations. More than likely to clash with an apprentice that talks back. Regardless of what they expect, they'll try their best to be patient and make little room for mistakes. A very strict mentor.
Traits you intend to pass down: - Cunning & discipline

Character's Name: @pinekit
Activity Level: fairly active, 15-20 posts a month!
What kind of mentor are you after: ABOVE ALL I just want someone active enough and cool with plotting and doing threads together <3; I think a mentor who pushes Pinekit to his limits would be interesting to explore? but I am open to all avenues~ I was hoping the mentor could either help with or exacerbate his anxiety issues for a bit before he learns to cope better!

Note: He won't be available to be an apprentice until October 1st

Character's Name: @SCREECHKIT
Activity Level: active (10-15 posts a month)
What kind of mentor are you after: If he were to actually train, his hunting and battle skills would excel, but for now his abilities are merely untapped potential held by Screechkit's conclusion that he already knows all he needs to know, his early-mid days as an apprentice will be largely spent skipping out on lessons, wandering off, and likely under punishment. Someone who is more strict or harder on him and/or just simply cares about training him would be preferred, if possible!

Character's Name: geckoscreech, who's already up there!
Activity Level: casual ( 5-10 posts a month )
What kind of mentor are you: due to the loss of ghostpaw, geckoscreech's style of teaching will be much more stricter. everything needs to be precise when it comes to lessons and expects her apprentice to heed to every word that leaves her mouth. this could very much lead into clashing and butting heads depending on her student's personality but i'm super open for plotting discussion on all sorts of things with whoever gets paired with her. ( ´ ▽ ` )
Traits you intend to pass down: sharp-witted & elegance

Character's Name: @scalejaw
Activity Level: - Will be a 10-15 post a month character!
What kind of mentor are you: - Scalejaw is an iron fist kind of girl. She doesn't often feel the need for mercy or to let up unless with good reason- and good reason is often only sickness or injury. She's tough, strong-willed, and stubborn, but she'll be damned if she doesn't teach you how to defend yourself with wicked claw and tooth. She has an inherent grace that, with good attendance with training, will get passed down.
Traits you intend to pass down: - Grace, strength, steadfast.

Character's Name: @STUMPYSPOTS
Activity Level: Active (10-15 posts a month, or more)
What kind of mentor are you: A laid back mentor with a fairly loose grip on her apprentice, so long as they're behaving. If her gentleness is taken advantage of she has methods of turning an apprentice around real fast. Lost her two previous apprentices so will likely be very protective and keep a keen eye on them.
Traits you intend to pass down: - Climbing, though ofc no SkyClanner Stumpyspots is fairly decent at climbing, better than the average ShadowClanner
- Her sass and her INCREDIBLE humor
- Tales of an old womans regrets and life time mistakes, and guidance on how to walk a happier path
- Wisdom

Character's Name: @POPPYKIT
Activity Level: - aiming for ~7-10 posts a month!
What kind of mentor are you after: - Poppykit is somewhat of a sickly child who will suffer from longterm effects of yellowcough in the form of shortness of breath and general fatigue (asthma-like symptoms), and after training will still lack much physical prowess. She's intelligent in her own right, and loves learning, but she doesn't care whether her intellectual pursuits are of any use to the clan. They are a bit of an odd duck and will wander off frequently when something is uninteresting to them and can be frustrating to a stricter mentor. She has the potential to have a lot of affection for her mentor, though !

Activity Level: Shooting for 15 posts a month!
What kind of mentor are you: Frostbite is a kind, but firm mentor. He won't tolerate slacking. He takes mentoring seriously, and will work his apprentice very hard to get them to be the best they can be.
Traits you intend to pass down: Formidable fighting ability, loyalty, endurance, confidence

Character's Name: @Ptarmigankit
Activity Level: Casual
What kind of mentor are you after: Ptarmigankit will need a mentor who can keep his attention. He's easily distracted, not because of disinterest, but because that's just how he is. Hes not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he does his best.

Character's Name: @Lilycrest
Activity Level: Casual (10 posts per month)
What kind of mentor are you: Incredibly strict and demanding with little patience. Willing to be accommodating if necessary but allows few excuses to get by him. Has higher expectations than most would deem feasible. Treats apprentices more like an employee than a student, friend, or peer.
Traits you intend to pass down: Strength, obedience and confidence.

Character's Name: @FLINTKIT
Activity Level: trying to get him to 10 per month!!
What kind of mentor are you after: really anything! a mentor who would give him a chance despite being granitepelt's son (and looking so much like granite) would be appreciated, although i am totally fine if they are very strict with him. he has definitely inherited his father's attitudes so far and will be very insecure about starting his apprenticeship late. this insecurity will probably manifest most often in disobedience / bad attitudes, so a mentor who is prepared to deal with that would be good (or it could be interesting if he and his mentor really butt heads!)

What kind of mentor are you after: someone who is serious/strict maybe, and active. newtpaw has a tendency to focus her energy on conversation. currently her skills are quite sloppy. but with that being said i'm happy with any mentor. :)
/ since newt's already an apprentice her current mentor is an npc so this would be a reassignment or something along those lines.

Character's Name: @swanpaw
Activity Level: active (aiming for 10-15 per month)
What kind of mentor are you after: Swanpaw has just recovered from 2 moons of yellowcough, with his former mentor dying just after he recovered, so he's going to he struggling a lot. He is a quiet, dreamy cat with a fascination with StarClan, would love either a stern mentor who will push him to do his best, a patient mentor who will be understanding of his current struggles, or a more eccentric mentor who can match his strangeness.
