The riverside was a common place even for relaxation, twin blue ears pulled toward to listen to what the river had to tell. The rush of gentle waves pushing towards the far unknown was always an easing experience. Although, it could be easily spoiled.

A buzz and a tickle to the ear made yellow eyes shoot open with a startled jolt, shaking their head and pulling their body back up to their belly. Generally, they'd ignore the first pursuance. It was merely a mosquito, barely a threat unless one wanted to spare all of their blood. For a few moments, Driftwood began to drift back into half consciousness. Their body lazily pulling back to lay upon their side.

Buzz…. Buzz..

A flick of their ear was given with an annoyed groan. Then there was a tickle to their face and ears again. Their gaze lazily opened to watch the pest, seeing that it had brought their friends along. They had decided to relocate away from the micro terrors, shaking their pelt as they had stood up. Driftwood began to walk off, serving an annoyed glance over their shoulder only to realize they were attracting a swarm. Tickle every which way and buzzing.. They were persistent and annoying weren't they? Had their clanmates thought of their good natured touches this way? Maybe they needed to tone that down..

Driftwood then looked toward the water as they shook their pelt every which moment, pawing their face until ultimately making the decision. They entered the water to soak their body above their shoulder blades and then dove their head under for a moment. Resurfacing, they saw the pests swarming above. "Never had I experienced this extent of annoyance… Wonder… if some clanmates used to see me that way." A humored snort left their nose, splashing water from their tail in the mosquitoes' direction. A smirk drew to their lips as she watched them attempt to dodge. How odd it was to have such a tiny enemy.

-ˋˏ ༻✧༺ ˎˊ- carawaysong watched the exchange with mild amusement, relief that it wasn't her who was being swarmed by bugs. they were one of greenleaf's more annoying blessings, always buzzing near the waters edge, flocking prey that had been sitting for just a moment too long. she'd be glad when the heat left and they went with.

driftwood takes to the river to escape, launching water in their direction to ward them away. still, the mosquitoes didn't stray far. and carawaysong, who had been caught up in the crossfire, shakes the droplets free from her paw.

"aw, they're waiting for you, driftwood," the warrior coos, staying just far enough away that she wouldn't become an unwilling participant in the the whims of bugs. "i think they like you." she teases gently, tucking black paws under her chest as a small grin pulls at her lips.

  • Carawaysong's trilled teasing drifted past her ears with little consideration... the river is a cold comfort with the days growing shorter and Lichenstar had thought to enjoy some peace and quiet for once. The insect orchestra is vibrant tonight... and grows louder still with the splashing of Driftwood's entrance to escape his attackers. Her ears swiveled in the direction of the two, younger warriors with a dull sense of curiosity only to notice the looming cloud of flying pests not far above.

"I can't say... I'm envious.. of your new friends," she comments, paddling a little closer so she wouldn't have to raise a strained voice just to have a casual conversation. "You'll have to... tell them they can't... join RiverClan," the molly continues with a small 'ha' to make sure her own humor is understood.

Though the kittens might enjoy chasing around some quick, feeble prey, the itching of their constant, flittering touch is not welcome. She'd never get any sleep with them buzzing around the camp's ears all night.

That high-pitched buzzing, it was difficult to miss... and it made Ferngill's heart thump like anything, to be honest. The dwindling heat and the rising humidity, it brought out these beasts- he winced at the sight of them, tiny and flitting around Driftwood as if there was something particularly... mosquito-like about them. Kissing them, like there was some kinship; oh, he couldn't wipe the grimace off his face.

A cloud followed them, nearing the water- and a spindrift felled a few, but only a few. Despite the fact they were near the river, and he'd usually want to launch himself in without a second thought, Ferngill kept his distance this time around- with a wary eye of gren he watched them, and looked vaguely bewildered toward Lichenstar and Carawysong, who only lightly joked about the predicament.

"Seriously though, don't let 'em, uh... sting you." it was stinging, wasn't it? "Someone told me once you can... you can catch stuff off them." Whiskers twitched nervously. Oh, he wasn't keen to risk it, to be honest.
