✦ Quiet filled the air around him as cats began shuffling back from failed hunts and tended to aching wounds. Dogbite himself was slumped in a nest only a few moments after having run wild across the territory scrambling for food. Their patrol, even with Riverclan cats added to the fray, came back with barely any scraps to show for it. Tuning out the disappointment he focused on breathing. Each breath felt like glass and his ribs bended and quaked upon exhaling.
Pulling away from their physical condition his mind wandered back to earlier. Applefrost had visited him not long before he'd managed to fall asleep. Keeping and offering the worried warrior some much needed company. Now he was back to being wide awake and rolling in his bed. Unable to get comfortable or even feel somewhat relaxed. Damnit. Irritated and fed up he awkwardly splayed himself in the nest. Similarly, to what he'd done earlier to cool off the burning sweat beneath his shaggy pelt.
By now Dogbite knew he should haul his worn body to the Medicine den but with so few beds and hard at work Medicine Cats. He didn't feel right taking their time away to heal his sorry hide. Instead he ignored the fearsome growling of their stomach and laid quietly outside the warriors den.
