Tired. That's how Cougar felt. Him and his brother had been trudging on after this stupid scent path for days- days? Weeks? He had no idea how long it had been. Just that the moon had come and gone a number of times, and Cougar hadn't bothered to start counting until it was too late. But they traveled into the marshy territory now, his paws pressing into the soft ground with a huff. Cougar glanced ahead at his brother- Tiger- who was still heading forward. Cougar's ears twitched as they continued traveling forward, and a shake of his head followed.

A crack rang out.

Cougar's head whipped up, and he moved quicker, slipping up beside his brother. "Hold on, did you hear that?" He questioned, his vision scanning the low growth around them. Unblinking, but oh-so-exhausted. Cougar was about ready to fall over at this point, so if there was a coming fight, Cougar wasn't ready. He just hoped to all heck that Tiger was.

// please wait for @tiger to post! feel free to have broken a twig or something if u do pop in!

i knew there was no turning back — tiger felt kind of like he was dying. all of his limbs were sore, and the way his ears pinned back was not helping his headache in the slightest. this had to be the furthest from home they'd ever been, and now that they were this far.. there was no turning back. they were doing this. he was doing this. he was going to avenge her, whether it was the last thing he did.

his head snapped, as soon as the crack rang out somewhere around them. the way it echoed made it hard to pinpoint, and the headache he had didn't help in the slightest. "yeah." it's short and gruff, scanning in the opposite direction of cougar. this was a bad situation to be in. in new territory, potentially being stalked by some unknown threat.. "stay on your toes, cougar, we don't know what's out here."

Damn. She didn't mean to step on the twig, but who could blame her? She had caught a strange scent while she was hunting and decided to scope it out. The pair wouldn't have found her easily had she not stepped on the twig. Amber eyes stare stare at the pair and can't help but smirk. Should I scare em'? It's then that she can hear the elders butt in. Something about not causing too much trouble and no starting fights. The colony was struggling with food and the river being low was no help either. Not like they were skilled at swimming or fishing yet. I guess I have to play nice or whatever.

Abruptly she stands straight, as if she were a rabbit peeking out of its burrow. There is no fear emitting from her while she looks at them. "Relax, I ain't gonna skin you or anythin' like that. The only thing I'm gonna sink my claws in is food I find." Sasha doesn't think that the pair would suddenly fight her because it seemed like they were exhausted. If she was tired the last thing she would want is trouble, so these cats are not threats in her eyes. She takes a few steps closer to the toms and tilts flicks her tail behind her. "You toms look like dung, there's water ahead if you're thirsty." Is this being nice? If the elders get on my case again, I'll go mad. How long was the lecture last time?

Our toes. A snort left the smaller brother as he crouched down, but Sasha suddenly stands upright. His hair stood up, eyebrows drawing together and his teeth gritting. An enemy? Or not? Words flowed from their mouth, and he barely relaxed at her statement. Sasha was right in her thoughts- they didn't have the energy to start a fight, but it didn't mean that they wouldn't finish it. He half expected Tiger to go nuts on this poor girl too. "Steady." He muttered to Tiger quietly, eyes direct on the other.

He spoke again to herself. "We found water further up. We're really looking for shelter, food." Yeah, probably like any other sorry soul out here, right? A huff left him as she got closer, but he didn't feel threatened, quite yet.
