"You need to be better." Halfpaw had said suddenly to Sneezepaw one morning, her lips curled in a sneer and her blue eyes icy. Between the two of them, she had always seen Sneezepaw as.. lesser. Weaker. Was she destined for a lifetime of protecting him like a kit because his paws were too soft to take care of himself? She would do it, if she had to. For ShadowClan. For the sake of not losing another if there was something she could do about it, but there is a part of her, stubborn and selfish, that doesn't want to. She wants him to be strong on his own. The way she was, the way Singepaw was. It is hard to believe they were related, that any of the same blood ran between them, and as she looks down upon her fellow apprentice she lets out a scoff. It can be mistaken for a cough, but her eyes linger for only a fraction of a second before she turns, looking over her shoulder as she makes to walk away. "Finish your breakfast then come find me. We're sparring." It is nothing less than an order, her voice leaving no room to argue as she makes for the shaded part of the clearing to wait for him to be ready.
Sharpshadow was shaping up to be an okay mentor, she supposes, but what if her teachings were not enough for Sneezepaw? What if Sneezepaw needed more? Well, Halfpaw is happy to step in and help. Free of charge too! She's generous like that... There is a part of her, small and insignificant that whispers that she knows exactly who she is doing this for and it wasnt Sneezepaw or Sharpshadow, but she pushes that thought from her mind before it can take hold.
