It was Cloudypaw's first day of training, and she had no idea how to feel.

The other apprentices seemed so excited, and she understood why. They had grown up in this clan after all. All of them had probably been waiting their whole lives for this moment, preparing for it every second they could. Meanwhile, she had only just joined. A moon ago she wouldn't have even known what an apprentice was.

Her nerves kept bubbling up within her, despite her attempts to push them down. Her paws shuffled beneath her idly as she waited for her mentor to arrive. She couldn't hunt or fight or any of the things a clan cat was supposed to be able to do. Part of her was worried he'd show up, see how terrible she was at it all, then decide she wasn't worth the effort. Tell his leader to just kick her out so that he could spend his time training a REAL apprentice. Then her chance at a new home would be gone, and she might never see her siblings again.

Cloudypaw shook her head, trying to dispel her fears. This wasn't the time to let them distract her, if they did, she might do even worse. Besides, this could be her one and only chance to actually learn to do all the stuff she was bad at, to finally start to fit in in Thunderclan. At least, that was what she hoped.​
