private SPARKBIRD - batwing

In the beginning, Leopardtongue had hated the idea of being stuck in the camp, stuck in the nursery unable to help her clanmates with hunting, with border disputes, with anything and everything that she could think of. Eventually the rosette tabby had grown used to this, soon after her children were born she'd learned to love it, watching them grow with time, their eyes opening, their first words, first steps. She didn't know how much she'd want to stay in the warmth and protection of that den until it was over and her kits were apprenticed and Leopardtongue found herself soon leaving the nursery and going back out into the territory. Something she had missed so much before was now something she didn't want, and with the introduction to the new warrior code she had quietly been glad that her kits would be safe longer even if they didn't like the idea of it, she knew they'd grow to understand hopefully now more than ever.

Though she'd been out to the territory a couple of times since she'd become a warrior once more she had asked Batwing to go with her this time, wanting to take the time just the two of them to watch the herd of deer move through their territory from above as they once had with the boar that crashed in the undergrowth and moved quickly through the trees. Where the boar was something horrible and they had both wished for them to be gone as quickly as possible, the deer were something beautiful so long as they were not provoked, and as they sat in the trees looking below Leopardtongue couldn't help the small smile that tugged at her maw as she moved closer to her mate, pelts pressing against each other as she let out a small purr. "They're so beautiful." Quietly the molly would breath, tail moving idly behind her as she watched them eat the soon-to-be growing foliage.

Batwing had been... caustious about taking anyone out to see the deer. Knowing a cat could be trampled to death was enough to be wary, but to take his mate who was still just slipping back into her duties? A soft breath had left him when Leopardtongue asked, but he wanted to take her regardless- there was something wonderful about the beasts that tread on Thunderclan's territory, their long legs and curling antlers that pointed to the stars.

Batwing had crept upon the bushes just near, and settled down in the bare branches, his pelt pressed against Leopardtongue's. The deer hadn't noticed them, or if they had, they didn't mind the tiny figures compared to their hooves. His ears softly twitched in Leopardtongue's direction as she spoke, his tail lifting up and laying over her side. A tiny smile found his face, vision shifting to look towards the other feline. "They are." He hummed softly.

A tiny grin found his face as he touched his nose behind her ear. "Just like you." He was softly amused, given the fact he was being a hint corny tonight.

Ears turned warm as Batwing softly spoke and she found herself leaning more, eyes closing for a moment as she let the moment of just the two of them envelop her, content and happy in this life before eyes opened once more and she found herself speaking again. "Do you think they'll be around long?" It was quiet, afraid to startle the large beasts below them before she quickly cast a glance to the feline beside her before looking down once more. She knew of his worries, that something would happen while they were out looking at the herd, but although she wasn't as strong of a climber as Batwing was she knew that she'd be fine. She was still a strong climber and had yet to fall out of a tree and wasn't planning on doing so any time soon.

Eyes glance to Batwing once more before air exhaled from Leopardtongue's body and she leaned away for a moment to turn towards him, her yellow eyes seeking out her mate's own. "Do you think they'll still be around when our kits are born?" She had known for a day or two now, had remembered the signs from when Batwing had gone off to the mountains to help save the clan, but this time it was different. This time they were ready, they would both be there for the kits through everything instead of just after they were born, and this time with yellowcough dealt with they could both be there for them in health too.

A soft, content sigh left him as he leaned in against his mate. This quiet contentness couldn't last, he supposed. Sometime the sun would fall further then it had, it would grow cold, the deer would move- but he soaked in as much as he could. His head lifted moments later as she spoke, vision flicking towards Leopardtongue. "Not sure. They've been here a while." He murmured in soft thought. He hadn't been thinking about escape routes just yet- the deer were still mild enough that it wasn't a concern.

Leopardtongue moved away, which withdrew a soft noise from Batwing in complaint as he sat back up straight. Yellow eyes found green, and the words that pinned Batwing now caused him to blink once, twice. Surprise flooded him, and he inhaled sharply- then stopped the noise of joy that had been about to leave him, given the nature of the easily-spooked beasts nearby. He slowly exhaled, searching her vision. "Are you serious? You're not joking. Right now?" The sentences were slightly disjointed, full of excitement. That was a are you actually pregnant? You aren't joking with me. Do you have them right now? Or is this a planning thing?

Batwing worked his jaw, unable to finish asking the questions in full capacity.
