†—— ghostkit is walking around camp as she does sometimes, when she's not penned up in the relatively pleasant med den with a rotating cast including her parents, her siblings, and any current patients. out in camp she's free from prying eyes for the most part; perhaps a couple cast glances as her presence is registered, but most cats leave her to whatever she's doing. maybe they're put off by her dark and staring eyes, or the poison words she spills freely. ghostkit doesn't particularly care which; they don't really matter, do they, in the end? no, they don't. they're just stupid, useless cats, they aren't the daughter of the medicine cat. those here-and-gone glances mean nothing, because she'll have what she wants, and they won't. they'll probably die alone after wasting their life away doing nothing but going on patrol and making more stupid, useless cats.

an unfamiliar form, then. a shaggy charcoal tabby, one of the older kits, one she hasn't seen much. ghostkit knows about forestshade's kits, who are dumb and run into brambles and make fun of her and have a stupid warrior for a mom. she knows about halfshade's kits too, who have a deputy for a dad but are still dumb and bossy (especially applekit), but at least they have a deputy dad. ghostkit pads silently, appropriately ghostlike, up to the stanger kit, rather rudely poking him harshly with one small paw and perhaps giving him a fright. "who are you?" she mews, although her tone makes it sounds like she doesn't particularly care.

"HEAR MY STOLEN LULLABIES"
This kit was a brat. The second she pokes him in the chest, he decides that she is his least favorite of any of the kits. He vaguely knows who she is - one of Starlingheart's kits - but he doesn't know her name. Something stupid. Even his respect for her mother can't stop the immediate dislike he feels for her.

He scoffs at the younger kit, rolling his eyes.

"Batkit." He answers her question with an even less interested tone than hers, and doesn't bother asking her who she is. He doesn't care.

━━ι═══════ Clearheart watches the encounter with a frown, particularly disquieted by the lack of regard Ghostkit demonstrates for Batkit's person. It drags to light memories of his own kithood, circled by the other children much like vultures above a dying animal, biding their time and waiting for weakness. But he hesitates to ascribe such malice to Ghostkit, reasoning instead that she may simply be unaware of the established social customs of respect. Starlingheart and Granitepelt are productive ShadowClanners, and it is possible certain lessons have fallen to the wayside in the face of balancing their responsibilities. He does not look upon either of them critically, if it is the case; clans would not exist if they were intended to rely on no one for anything at all.

"A moment, please," he interrupts politely, gazing down at each of them steadily, unblinking. "We are all of a whole together, and we should not splinter what binds us under StarClan. Ghostkit, it is respectful practice to ask like so." He straightens, raising his gaze as though looking upon another warrior. "'Good day, we have not yet met. What is your name?'" Clearheart returns his stare to the pair. "Do as I did, Ghostkit. Batkit, it is also customary to ask for a name in return, with similar respect."

Nettlekit emerged from the medicine den with a yawn splitting his jaws, eyes springing small tears with the sheer force of his drowsiness. The conversation- or, lack thereof- that his sister and Batkit were having did not do much to snag his attention until someone wiser descended upon the scene, seemingly well-versed in the art of politeness- the secret to socialising. Jay-blue eyes settled, aglow with interest, upon the warrior- the cinnamon-and-white kit strode over, head oh-so-slightly tilted.

Snow-dipped paws carried him over, and he settled, glancing with a grin to Ghostkit and Batkit as a form of silent greeting before his attention rose back up to the unfamiliar warrior. He spoke very well... Nettlekit latched onto every word, storing it away, though one held less clarity than the others. Or, rather... a pair. "So if it's not a good day, should you lie?" It was an entirely earnest, plain query- genuine confusion ran through his words like blood in a body.

━━ι═══════ He turns from the pair of kits to the third, a familiar face earning a reputation for his curiosity. The question he asks today is more than reasonable, and the warrior sits in such a position that allows him to keep the three children in full sight. "It is not an observation of fact," he explains, his bobbed tail twitching, as though it means to fold across his paws haf it the length to do so. "Think of it instead as a well-wishing phrase. It is merely the shortened version of, 'have a good day.'" He does not fault the young Nettlekit for his confusion; many colloquialisms pose trouble for Clearheart himself, most of which Honeyjaw perplexes him with.

"I do not think that would be a lie." From Clearheart, it would not be. If he did not wish them to have a good day, he would simply take a different approach without compromising his integrity. He hopes Nettlekit —and Ghostkit and Batkit— are similarly capable of such honesty.

"HEAR MY STOLEN LULLABIES"
The mention of StarClan causes Batkit to perk up slightly, but any interest quickly dissolves as Clearheart continues, clearly expecting Batkit to care about this kit - Ghostkit, he supposed. That's what Clearheart called her anyways. Why would he ever show her even the smallest amount of respect. "And if I'm not interested in what her name is?" It's spoken with more venom than is deserved, but he doesn't care.

Nettlekit gets stuck on the phrase "good day", which Batkit supposes he understands. It's a little silly, though. Why would Batkit bother wishing another cat a good day? They can have whatever day they desire.
