STAY SOFT, GET EATEN \ coughing fit

This was not going well, this hunting thing- he swore he'd been fine when he left, but the cold air seeping silver through his throat just made it worse and worse, woozied his walking yet more. There upon the Outlook Rock lay a prize, bleached by the pale sun of winter, glinting stark against blue sky. Glaring in the paleness, it had sat thankfully uninterrupted, uncorrupted- a snake-skull, jaw bone intact, perfectly preserved for puppetry. Excitement bubbled up within him, a swirling, grasping, gasping excitement. Their piece of the moon, fallen from the glaring eye of claret, had withered. Faded from its rouge, rendered minuscule, its skin still lay by his nest. To return the favour was his mission, and yet- the further he got, the weaker he felt...

Scaling the rock, a black paw reached out to admire the sun-bleached surface. As white as the nouveau snowfall, winter's weeping upon the ground- if he tossed the skull to the snow's veil, he would never be able to tell the difference! But in his pride, joy came bubbling, and so his mewling, dissonant cackle broke free. That echoing hysteria that cleaved the air was made worse by a collapse, a crackling cough that tore itself out, and sent him bowing over in its shuddering harshness. Oh, he felt like his throat might fly right out of his mouth, choking and hacking like this- and to make it worse, he swayed atop a tall rock indeed!

( ⓛ ﻌ ⓛ *)∫ A ridged cough errupted in the silence of the camp, and disturbed a cat that had been lazing around on a rock. Having dusted the snow off of it, Snowshadow perked up his ears at the sound and looked over in the general direction of the cough. It was Mallowlark. Concern creased an angular face and he moved to get up off the rock before heading on over, "You alrigh there? You don't sound too good," He commented to the black-pawed cat, "Maybe we should go see Dandelionwish- surely he can help the cough," The young medicine cat had enough on his paws already with the lack of herbs in storage, but it was just one cat that was sick. Surely it'd be alright? — tags

Sootstar lacks care for Mallowlark, the tom-cat was beyond strange... Yet unlike many cats who show up at their border he was by a miracle actually capable of hunting and fighting, she was confident that was the only reason she hadn't sent him packing with Aunt Ember.

Today instead of fits of laughter the alabaster tom is having a coughing fit. Sootstar herself is feeling under the weather, but she both refuses and fails to connect that Mallowlark could be feeling similar. "He is fine. His damn laughter probably finally made his throat dry." Sootstar grumbles to Snowshadow, before aiming her gaze at the other warrior. "There is wet moss in camp. Return and get a drink, or the river isn't far from here."

♚ Hyacinthbreath is fond of the awkwardly placed smiling tom. He's strange, and terrifies the apprentices with his never-moving smirk, but he's kind. She's seen how he reacts to loss, to fights- Emberfang's exile was still fresh on her mind. Snowshadow's concern is contagious, though Sootstar's remark is met with a glare in response. Sliding her gaze back over to Mallowlark, Hyacinth huffs.

"Come on, mate." She mutters softly, agreeing with Sootstar- he needed to get some moss water to drink. Hopefully it was just a sore throat.

He was realizing he was having a hard time telling what was just the sniffles, a sore throat and what was actually deadly? While he was checking the elder's for ticks he had chatted briefly with Mistbelly on the weather and the old tom had warned him to keep an eye out for what the cats called 'whitecough'. It was a sickness only present in leaf-bare and had the chance to develop into something dangerous and deadly but as for actual signs he had only been told 'it's like a cold' which didn't make him feel all the optimistic he'd be able to spot it before it got worse. Dandelionwish watched carefully from his den as Mallowlark wheezed, rasping cough like Sootstar herself had that he was unsure was anything but a cold. Did he waste herbs on them under the pretenses it might be deadly or did he wait and see if it developed and risked them getting sicker and harder to aid?
He kneaded his brown paws into the ground before him, anxiously shifting in place and wishing he was a little more learned in such things. At the very least, he'd been told chickweed might help...but what they needed was catmint if it came down to a serious ailment. Catmint that he was sorely lacking in and didn't know where else to find any this time of the year.
"If ye feel worse let me know!" He called out, offering all he could but most WindClanners worked past their coughs with a stubborn sense of pride. Foolish, if you asked him, but no one did. No one asked him anything...

He had to agree with Sootstar. That grin-maniac could just have got a sore throat after all of his unsettling cackling or maybe he had learned a new sound...In any case he was not that much concerned for Mallowlarks wellbeing in this case. A cat like him could survive through anything he imagined. He didn't look like a cat that was easy to kill both to others like and dislike. Leechpaw would do nothing but snort, a grimace on his maw as he kept his mouth shut to say anything uneccessery. This was Echolight's brother after all, and he did not wanted to insult her family even if he might not be a fan of all of them he held deep respect for Echolight who wouldn't let anyone disrespect or speak ill about her family. So...he tried to keep his tone and tongue around them these days not wanting to give the queen reasons to scold him. " You better listen to our medicine cat and visit the den if it does not get better soon." if you know what is best for you. He swore if this smiley-face ende dup seriously sick to cause uneccessery trouble for Dandy and Echo for some stupid 'tom pride' he was gonna rip this warriors ears off.
