Though she knew Flamewhisker was a sawn, scorned soul... the death of her mate had not been an easy thing, certainly... Thundergleam believed she was making some progress with the deputy. Regarding flowers, they had not long ago held a delightful but brief conversation... and Thundergleam desperately wanted to know the noble she-cat better. She was ThunderClan's deputy- eventually she would be leader, and Thundergleam would swear her loyalty to her just as she had done with Howlingstar, but it would be divine if she knew her even better. If they could form a bond, even... and Thundergleam could help her carry her pain, take it away, eventually... just as destiny had dictated.

"Flamewhisker?" Politely called through the scruff of a squirrel, she breathed a slight sigh of relief as she stepped into the shade of the nursery, glad to be out of the sunlight. Pale skin was beginning to scorch beneath those voracious beams. Gently, she placed the prey at the queen's feet, blinking softly. "If you desire something other than squirrel... I can fetch it to you. Oh, and also... I offer my company. You are a cat I admire very greatly, and it is an honour whenever I get to speak with you." No better balm than honesty, truly!

⁺˚⋆。°✩₊ The last few months had been rough to say the least. With time, it was beginning to get easier....but some days grief still overcame her. It was almost impossible to know what would trigger her. An empty spot under the sun...a question from her kits...even something as small as a tree branch waving above the camp. Now that her kits were older, she was desperately trying to keep her emotions in check, not wanting to worry them...but she could only keep that up for so long.

A muffled voice called her name from the entrance to the nursery, and the red tabby turned to face the snow pelted she-cat. "Oh, hey Thundergleam." she chirped in greeting. Moons ago when Howlingstar had first brought the strange molly into the camp, Flamewhisker had been deeply concerned about a pawful of things regarding her. There were still some things she found confusing about Thundergleam, but so far she had no reason to distrust her. She hadn't gotten to know the she-cat well, considering she had been in the nursery since she had joined. Her gaze fell to the squirrel, which Thundergleam claimed was for her. She blinked gratefully, and motioned with a paw for her to come closer and join her. "Squirrels are actually my favorite, thank you." The queen sat down, flicking her large tail over her front paws. A huff of amusement fell from her throat, and she licked her chest fur in embarrassment. "I can't say I've been the best company lately..." Nor one worthy of being admirable. "But I would enjoy some adult company....Tell me, what do you think of Thunderclan so far?"

"Ah, you have very good taste," Thundergleam purred, a genuine smile conquering her face. Yes, squirrels seemed commonly favoured among many Thunderclanners- and it was always the first thing Father had told her to look for when they had hunted together.

Thundergleam approached and settled with the silent gentleness of a night breeze- gladness radiated within her at the acceptance of her offer. And Flamewhisker was modest, hiding at the compliment, but Thundergleam wholeheartedly hoped kind words would do some mending. It would never replace what she had lost, of course... but it would heal, she hoped. Hope would have to be enough for now, until she could find something more concrete... until StarClan taught her how to take pain away, once and for all.

Beneath pale fur there prickled a distinctive warmth, that luminescent feeling that glimmered, pulsed within her whenever a Thunderclanner showed her care. It was not their duty to be interested in her, to do anything for her... she was indebted to them on every account, for giving her purpose, for giving her life meaning. "Oh, it is... wonderful." A feather-soft breath, woven in her sigh. "I wake up grateful every day. Living here is a fulfilment I dreamed of since kithood." With an airy laugh, she added, "But I imagine that sounds ridiculous to you." She imagined that for Flamewhisker, this life... this wonderful life, this wonderful Clan, it was mundane by now.

〕The newer member breathes that the clan is wonderful. Flamewhisker nods along with her words, agreeing with her statement. In her early days, she had felt the same magical infatuation about the concept of the clans. Compared to living as a loner, never knowing if she would survive to the following sunrise...this was certainly a step up. She was ever grateful for Thunderclan taking her in, and it seemed Thundergleam felt the same. Though, it had been much easier for her to join than it had been for the pale pelted molly in front of her. Emberstar had been a lot more welcoming towards outsiders than Howlingstar, but she stood firmly behind their current leader's opinion. Not all cats were trustworthy...she would never forget the day they almost lost Howlingstar, before she had the blessing of nine lives.

Living here is a fulfillment I dreamed of since kithood. The red tabby briefly narrows her eyes, but blinks it away without giving it much thought. "Were you born around here?" was all she asked. Her mother hadn't known about the clans, or at least not that she had shared. Their forest was several days travel from here, and she wasn't sure she could find her way back if she even wanted to. The wound on her shoulder had been infected, and she couldn't recall much after leaving the cave that she had called home for the first few seasons of her life. "It's not ridiculous." Her voice was quiet, but firm. "I wasn't born or raised here either. I lived alone with my mother before I joined Thunderclan." Flycatcher is the one who found me. Pain shot through her heart, but she tried to swallow it back. "The clan is a beautiful thing. Everyone looks out for one another...the kits, injured, and elders are all kept safe. Sure there are times when it gets hard, but I wouldn't trade clan life for anything."

a longhaired red tabby with low white and green eyes. flamewhisker's fur is a vibrant hue of red, riddled with thick classic tabby markings. her fur is medium in length, and she has a large, feathery tail. her chest, belly, tail tip, and her paws are dipped white. flamewhisker's eyes are a dark, deep shade of green. her shoulder has a large scar on it from a fight with a dog. she also has a shredded ear from a disagreement with a loner during her time alone before joining thunderclan. on particularly cold days, or sometimes before a major weather change, she will walk with a slight limp from her shoulder injury.

In truth, Thundergleam had believed the process of her joining would be an easy one. Father had never insinuated it would ever be a problem... he always told her she would meet her destiny when she was in ThunderClan, not if. Though she supposed he had been right! For she was a Thunderclanner now, through and through, spending every moment proving her loyalty to the best of her ability so that Howlingstar's verdant eyes might fall upon her and glimmer with approval.

Oh, it depended what was around here... "I lived about a day's travel from this forest with my Father. We did not call anywhere home, really." She clicked her tongue. "We moved around a fair bit, so... I could not tell you where I was born." She had never even known her mother- and Father had not told her much about her. As far as she was aware, thay had no affinity for each other whatsoever. They may not have even known each other, which... was that strange? Seeing parents raising their kits, here in ThunderClan... kits nestled at their mother's bellies...

Why could she not remember?

Flamewhisker lived alone with one parent, though- upon that confirmation of similarity, Thundergleam's spirits brightened a little bit. Oh, it was not so strange then! Her smile reached former glory, and she looked to the deputy with doe-eyed interest. The passion in her voice- ThunderClan, a beautiful thing... "Yes, yes- exactly! I can see what makes you ThunderClan's deputy," the pale molly purred, "Yes. There are few things more rewarding than bearing suffering for the good of those who you love." Stopping them from feeling pain at all, that was the ultimate goal.
