【◈】Coalfoot hadn't been feeling the best as of late. It was something he tried not to pay much mind to. The sniffles and coughs were spreading throughout the Clan by now, himself hardly an exception. Even so, he wouldn't let it deter him from his duties, even if he was beginning to feel even more tired than usual.
The tom was weary as he plodded along with his assigned hunting patrol, stifling cough after cough and struggling to even sniff out prey with a nose that didn't seem to want to work. It seemed that luck would be on their side, however. A rabbit burst from its hiding place in a flurry of panic, the marbled warrior hardly wasting time in bolting after it, eyes locked on and paws pounding. Yet as he ran, it wasn't long before he began to wear out, although he willed himself to push harder. He was right on its heels. He was better than this.
It was gaining speed. Or was he falling behind? Coalfoot was struggling to suck in ragged gasps, throat burning from the cold air and vision hazing. When the rabbit made an abrupt turn, it was all he could do to stumble to a halt, only barely keeping himself from tumbling into the snow.
With his head low, his eyes flickered to where the rabbit promptly vanished from sight, breathing harsh and rattling as he sputtered out coughs, shoulders racking with the effort. Coalfoot shook is head, as if to will himself to recover faster, but his legs were shaking, and he sat heavily in the snow.
Gripped by another coughing fit, he struggled to sputter out words as the rest of the patrol approached. "I'm sor-" Cough. "I'm sorry. I lost it," he panted miserably.
