For all the questions that burn in Uranus's mind, there is one that has seared its way onto her heart. Why?
Why does Ursabounce love Goldenglow? Why is Fireflyglow the only one that can heal cats? Why does the code exist? Why can't they trust other cats to do the right thing? Why does star clan have favorites? Why why why. And why won't anyone answer her? I mean, they do - but it's not real. It's not an actual explanation. It's always 'because..', it's always 'you're to young...', it's always.... just shy of being a lie. Well not tonight! Tonight, she had something she could test.
"Why can't I leave camp?" It had been a plain question. Asked to many a warrior. "Why can't I help?" Most shifted, thinking or otherwise before settling on some variation of 'it's not safe for you'. Uranuskit hated that. Not because of the things it implied, but because it was simply wrong. She and her siblings walked from their house to camp all the time! What was so scary? Just because it was dark didn't mean she couldn't see.
She blinks, the moon plump above her head. It's light brushes over the leaves and grass painting everything blue. She loves that color. It's like the whole world was underwater and she was a fish. Oddly in love with the mental image, the kitten waves her way in and out of foliage, paws tracing steps she'd taken during the day. Breath billowing infront of her, the molly's ear flicks slightly. To her.... her left she thinks is movement. Something big. Prey? Or is that just Veve? The thought of prey - hot, sticky, and honestly gross - makes her shiver a bit but only for a second. If i bring back prey they would be so proud of me! I can be useful! I can help!
Her body a mirror of a memory, Uranuskit crouches, bunchs up her hunches and springs her body forth as far as she can through the blue-tinted leaves - only to land squarely on nothing. Her paws skid on the cool ground, her back paw finding a pocket or hole or something that gives her back paw a rough tug as she crashes through the undergrowth.
Her belly is cold as the kit simply remains on the ground, cheeks hot with embarassment. At least no one was there to see it.
