TASTES LIKE VEGETABLES I DON'T LIKE | burningspirit

Cloudypaw felt guilty about her training.

She was improving day by day, but she was doing so slowly. Compared to the other apprentices she still lagged behind. It felt like she might never catch up. How could she when they were so far ahead of her in every respect?

More than anyone else, it felt like she was letting her mentor down most of all. She had no doubt that Burningspirit wished he had been appointed any other apprentice. Then his teachings might actually be put to use, rather than wasted on her. For all the time and effort that he had put into her, he deserved better.

They had training today, and with every step she took toward the entrance of camp where they were supposed to meet, dread grew in her heart. Not for the work she would have to do, but just for the thought of having to look him in the eye. She had no doubts that she would manage to be a disappointment today too.
