A THUNDERCLAN HOPE LITTER
BADGERSTRIPE had a rather easy upbringing, an only child to cherishing (and spoiling) parents. She was an outgoing and confident kitten who grew quickly into a brave and fun-loving apprentice. With an abundance of friends and big dreams, the girl saw life as fun and games, and lacked responsibility.. Ultimately leading to the risky decisions made during the night of her warrior ceremony.

A newly named Badgerstripe and her friends were eager to begin work, only to be assigned to guard duty by their leader, Howlingstar. Determined to give herself and her friends a memorable night, a girl's night out if you will, the young tortoiseshell lead her reluctant friends into the territory that night, only to return to a vulnerable camp ravaged by wolves.

With pride gone to her head, Badgerstripe finds herself unable to cope with being the talk of the Clan, and less willing to accept that she had been responsible for the death of some cats' beloved family members and friends. She spirals into a depression, withdrawing herself from the Clan and her closest friends - and it is then, at the worst of her bitterness, that she meets Sleekserpent, a mysteriously withdrawn warrior who does not seem to scorn her based on her actions, and offers her somewhat of a fresh start..

A BOND IS FORGED between the two warriors, who find comfort in that neither one has a solid place in the Clan.. but at least they have each other.

However, as tensions rise in the Clan, so too do they rise between the two young warriors. After her many trials and tribulations, Badgerstripe begins to re-build her old friendships, and become at least part of the kind and empathetic warrior she was once named for. At the same time, Sleekserpent finds herself integrated into a group of feisty warriors that show growing concern and distaste over the kittypet-blooded population of ThunderClan. Desperate to remain in her friend's company, Badgerstripe puts up with the 'harmless' gossip and talk of change (all the while trying to coerce Sleekserpent into ditching his friends for hers) - until bodies of beloved Clanmates start to show up murdered by the very cats her dearest friend associates with.

At the peak of tensions, Skyclaw takes over ThunderClan, and the rest is history. Emboldened, a prideful Sleekserpent finds his ground amongst the cats that now reign their home while holding protectiveness of his own over Badgerstripe. Disagreements between the two flare more and more, as the latter becomes increasingly irritable and upset by the regime and Sleekserpent's acceptance of it - but in their moments of peace, she finds that even with their differences, no other cat seems to understand her and take care of her the way Sleekserpent does..

After a long week of butting heads and increasingly explosive arguments, a distraught Badgerstripe is soon stumbled upon by Flamewhisker, who sees an unexpected meaning in the molly's heightened emotions and recent sickness - it is then that she discovers she is expecting kits, and shares the news with a delighted Sleekserpent. Fearful for the future of these kits, that they will be apprenticed to killers and raised with hate by their peers, the newly-discovered mother holds her breath as she awaits the change that Flamewhisker was rallying.

AND THEN, ADMIST A TERRIBLE STORM, a battle breaks out between the righteous and the villainous to decide the fate of ThunderClan. It is within that Badgerstripe confronts Sleekserpent, and offers her a final chance to change: if she were to survive on the wrong side of history, she would never see her kits. The pair parts on a solemn note, with Sleekserpent rushing into battle and Badgerstripe taking refuge in the nursery. She stumbles upon his body after the battle, beaten with a grief-stricken expression, and silently vows that her kits would be raised with peace and compassion, as to not follow their lost parent's pawsteps.

AS THE FIRST LITTER born under the new leadership of Flamestar, Badgerstripe - despite her grief for her wayward friend and all she had lost - finds hope in these kits that will take part in a brighter future for ThunderClan. Now, she must come to terms with responsibility and selflessness, and therein lies the question.. is she ready for such a monumental change to her life as she knows it?

This litter is not FCFS. Apps will be open until Oct. 4 and will be named here on Oct. 6. That leaves each player with 2 days after choosing to prepare a sub-account. I may need to make adjustments on this as well as the birth thread depending on my work schedule during those days. This litter will remain at two slots only with one slot reserved, for a total of three kits. Kits will start at two moons old after birth, aging realistically each month on the 9th. The kitting and naming thread will take place on Oct. 9. As Badgerstripe is my current main, I am hoping for between 5-10 posts minimum per month from players, but the hard requirement for activity is 5 posts per month. During apprenticeship and beyond, if kits are not posted with for two months without notice, I reserve the right to rehome. The litter must remain in ThunderClan until adulthood and preferably even longer, unless plot calls for it. Please reach out to me if you have a plot in mind leading to exile, leaving or death! There is no set form - but please include the basics such as name, gender, appearance, and personality or personality concept. Despite her initial fear and uncertainty about having kits, Badgerstripe will love and cherish these kits. She will be highly protective and will adopt a helicopter parenting style. There is room for angst due to their other parent's misdeeds and Badgerstripe's over-protection, but there will be no abuse or neglect from Badgerstripe. If you wish for your kitten to have a mental or physical disability, please research the condition appropriately and play it with respect. All kits will be born with fever coat. This will go away between four and (in rare cases) twelve moons at your discretion!

━ Curiosity killed the cat and this is more than true in Promisekit's case. Their curiosity, their constant seeking of answers and simple knowing are their primary driving force, the thing that wakes him up in the morning the reason it struggles to sleep at night constantly overcome with questions. Its curiosity is no obstacle and they make very clear the lengths they're willing to go to sate it, even throwing themselves and potentially others headfirst into danger.
━ Patience is key when you want anything in life- well, patience and dedication and an insane insistence. Promisekit is all that and more. If they want something, if they're just on the cusp of a satisfying answer, they're plenty patient, confident that they will reach that satisfying ending they want so badly because it was their dedication and insistence that got them there in the first place.
━ Unlike Sleekserpent before him, Promisekit typically treats everyone the same with a default politeness. It says 'please' and 'thank you' and offers compliments whenever they notice it's needed. Goes out of its way to be friendly at the borders and likes to chit-chat with cats from other clans at gatherings. All in the name of learning more, obviously. A little politeness goes a long way.
━ At times, their pushy type of dedication can be overpowering, crossing the threshold into a tunnel-visioned fixation, casting aside their need to eat or rest because truly all they really need is to know and to them nothing, not even their health is quite as important as knowing all they want and feel they should.
━ As a child it's the typical clingy possessive-ness that most children possess, the refusal to share toys and not wanting to have the same friends as everyone else. As an adult it's more contained, displayed more subtly in manners of standing between his family and regular clanmates, subconsciously or otherwise, distancing them. It's a matter of, while he has little respect for the possessions for others, he may react poorly if someone touches his things.
━ Not quite from a place of goodness but rather from a place of wanting experience, it loves to help others whether they want that help or not. It is pushy and forceful, insisting upon helping or hanging out even with a negative reaction or an audience that doesn't want them there. It'll likely take a physical force to get them away from something they want to see or hear.
━ Their sire, a traitor to Thunderclan with violent and aggressive behaviors, has passed said traits down to their firstborn. In spite of all Promisekit's patience and general politeness, aggression is nesting just beneath the surface, comfortable and dozing till the moment it should be startled awake. Fortunately, it shouldn't happen anytime.
━ As a child playing pretend and using ones imagination is a good thing, but as one ages there's the expectation that using that imagination should be put on the backburner. Promisekit does no such thing. From a young age their hunger for knowledge goes paw in paw with their delusions wherein they insist that they are an integral part of the clan, not just another warrior, another cat to put to work. It, armed with its knowledge and experience, is a necessity to the clan and is destined for something great.
━ Now, while they respect other cats, their possessions haven't earned the same regard. Promise is pawsy, tactile, subconsciously or otherwise, fiddling with something at all times. If they see a clanmate bring in something new, he has to be the first to touch it and to examine it with a critical eye. When a clanmate is out, be sure to hide your items well because Promise isn't above going places they shouldn't just to fiddle with someone else's special rocks or feathers or other such objects.

Their intense overprotectiveness could partially stem from them being the firstborn?
• Deluded itself into believing that they'd make a great medicine cat and with this they want to test their own "remedies." Taking another kit or apprentice aside, he'll insist on feeding them all it's "herbs" that they'd found or created after mashing together any number of gross things. This will likely lead to them getting their test subject ill or worse. Potentially it's an eye-opening moment where they finally realize they'll never be a real medicine cat or they fall deeper into their delusions and just try harder leading more cats and themselves into danger

with long fur cascading over their form, cheerkit's appearance is what one would describe as graceful or elegant. the long pelt they carry is painted in shades of pale grayish-blues, stripes and shifting shades making a canvas not unlike clouds on their body. mixed in amongst this cloudy palette would be shades of cream, golden sun rays shining through the clouds. only one small spot differs from this backdrop of sky-like markings, a plain white paw on their back left leg. eyes, meanwhile, are a warm hue of amber, soft and honey-shaded.

beneath the fur, their body is long and lanky, though is carried with the same grace their outer appearance suggests. there's a bit of muscle, not very pronounced, hidden away beneath the thick layer of fluff. their paws suit their size, large enough to carry them but not so large as to make them clumsy. they lean on the thinner side, not underweight but balancing on the edge of it at all times, not quite the type to easily put on weight.

their face is on the smaller side, a shorter, delicate snout paired with medium, almond-shaped eyes and a small nose. it's their ears that are most pronounced, large triangles with long tufts of fur on the ends of them. their fur falls in waves down their cheeks, around their neck, chest, shoulders, making what seems not unlike a mane of fur. long white whiskers stretch from their muzzle and brows, pale and easily visible.

their voice is light and airy, gentle no matter who it is directed at. anger and rough tones do not come naturally to them, sounding wrong in the few situations they might spill from their mouth. their tone of voice matches the way they move, flowy, graceful, elegant. gentle and pretty, making sure to carry themself with ease, with pride. they rarely, if ever, run; when they do, though, they try to keep this gait; keeping up the image they present of themself.

• cheerkit is a graceful and elegant kitten with long, flowing fur painted in shades of pale grayish-blue, cream, and gold, resembling a sky with clouds and sunbeams. he carries himself with lightness and pride, moving fluidly and speaking in a gentle, airy voice. cheerkit is often lost in thought, with his head in the clouds, more focused on imagination than the present. despite his dreamy nature, he is highly self-aware, striving to be kind and liked by others, though this makes him slightly timid. cheerkit is privately doubtful of starclan, finding the idea unsettling, but keeps these beliefs to himself. he pushes past his discomfort to maintain a helpful, graceful image, always aiming to stay in others' good graces.

  cheerkit is well-known to be the type to always have his head in the clouds, more floaty than grounded. his mind wanders easily and often, never quite focused on the present moment, instead playing over past events or future possibilities, over things that have never happened, ideas of things he hopes will one day happen. he's constantly going through life slightly in his own mind, preferring to focus on his own imagination rather than day-to-day life.
  
  despite this, he actually is rather doubtful. even with the way his mind works, cheerkit doesn't have strong beliefs in starclan, finding the idea of ancestors looking down on him and everyone else a bit far-fetched. he actually finds the thought rather unsettling–the idea of continuing to exist after death, to have to see everything without being able to interact himself. he chooses not to believe in starclan. however, he does often keep these doubts to himself, along with his doubts about other things.
  
  he does his best to be kind to those around him, even those he doesn't necessarily like or care for in any way. he doesn't want to be seen as a rude or mean individual, and so instead does his best to be helpful and to treat others around him well despite his own opinion on them. he's highly aware of how other view him and is always doing his best to keep in everyone's good graces, whether that's by offering a friendly conversation, a shoulder to cry on, or doing deeds for them.
  
  it's this heightened awareness of others' opinions that leads to a slight timidness. he does his best not to show it to others, but he's rather nervous fairly often. his timid nature is something he keeps to himself to the best of his ability as he would rather be seen as the image he puts forth of himself. kind, helpful, graceful. even if he'd rather take a step back and be cautious, cheerkit will push himself outside of his comfort zone in order to hide this about himself.
  
  
• ALIENATION: many cats in all of the clans believe in starclan. her doubts, her lack of belief, will likely lead to her feeling set apart from those around her. she doesn't believe in starclan and doesn't want to, but the fact that she is one of few that feel that way makes her feel isolated and alienated from her clanmates. perhaps she'll try to find things to make her believe; perhaps it will set her in her ways further; haven't quite decided which way it will go yet.
  
  UNMASKED: as a result of trying to hide her fear of something and keep up her mask, cheerkit receives an injury that is both permanent as well as being something that affects her. possibly losing an eye, or having something happen to a leg that never fully heals right; specifics are undecided still. as a result, her facade falls apart. she can't hide behind who she wants to be anymore and must instead just learn to be herself.

  Although raised by the entire village, Fuzzykit will quickly notice the imbalance growing up with a single, stressed mom and immediately take it upon herself to be Badgerstripe's littlest helper. She tries to be the voice of reason, if not a positive guidance, to hopefully ensure her siblings are in check and safe - though it doesn't always work. She's left a more cautious creature for it, always careful never to stir the pot and avoid mischief like it's the plague - especially when she can see clearly where a personality like that could lead her, what with growing up with stories about her father and such. When She's not following her mother around or trying to keep her sisters out of trouble, Fuzzykit prefers to be on her own, eager to know how to take care of herself should the need arise. Although she adores her mother, the helicopter will quickly grow trusting and push Fuzz to enjoy not having to rely so readily on others, even at a young age. She'll prefer to never ask for help.
  
  But growing up in the tail end of a civil war to a mother drought with so much fear, Fuzzykit quickly acquires a rather anxious persona. Although she does a good job of keeping it controlled, at times the girl can devolve into a fretful mess, especially when she thinks she's losing control or a person's favor. She wants to be someone others can rely on and be proud of so often the girl will do whatever is asked of her if it means earning someone's respect. At times she can, and will, push aside her wants and needs to make those around him more happy and comfortable. More than that though she will rarely ever communicate her needs or fears. She holds her weaknesses in with lock and key and doesn't easily trust others, especially those outside of Thunderclan or those formerly loyal to Skyclaw.
  
  Despite Fuzzykit's kind and humble nature, she longs nonetheless to be the best. She wants to be the girl her mother can be proud of, especially when she finds out about Sleekserpent's misdeeds. Her competitive nature can often suffocate her usually kinder instincts and make her ruthless in her pursuit to win his clan's favor.
  
  
• 
  SNAKE IN THE GRASS
  For however long it takes before she finds out about Sleekserpent's past, Fuzzykit will build up a dream image of her missing parent, imagining her to be someone who died honorably for her mother or kits. When she's told the truth, she'll demand for a less sugar-coated version or hunt for more details, growing more disillusioned with each fact.
  
  CHILDISH GRUDGES
  I just think it'd be absolutely hilarious if Fuzzy goes digging and finds out who specifically killed Sleekserpent (hi Vilefury <3) and takes it upon her little baby shoulders to be the one to take her parent's killer's life in return. Does Fuzzykit understand the horrors of death? No. Does she still work her ass off every day holding a grudge against a very well-meaning fellow clanmate who probably feels bad and also has no understand that a pint-sized devil is after her? Yes of course! Is she actually going to kill Vilefury? No probably not, I imagine she'll grow out of it pretty quickly but like...it's a very funny motivation for her to have <3
  
  FOLLOWING SLEEK'S FOOTSTEPS,,,OR SHOULD I SAY SLITHER?
  Resentful of her second parent's death and the effect it has/had on Badgerstrike, Fuzzykit will start to slowly doubt her clan more and more. Perhaps she'll wonder what actually drove her second mama to join Skyclaw...perhaps she'll ask too many questions about who Skyclaw is...perhaps she'll look differently at those not born within Thunderclan's walls....who knows who knows...
