[Briarthorn]

The night's green-leaf breeze swells with sticky moisture, as though the stars above were still angry for her clan's sacred indiscretions, and therefore now refused to spare any relief from the swelter. The songs of toads and crickets alike fill the heavy atmosphere as the warrior snakes through the marshland, attempting to soothe whichever toxic thoughts had tangled themselves up in the threads of her brain tonight.
It's grief she thinks, albeit a dimmed version with only enough strength to deny Briarthorn a peaceful night's sleep. Tonight, the young warrior lets her paws guide her into the territory, there would be no one to save herself from the web of her own mind tonight.
Upon a rotting fallen tree Briarthorn balances, walking heel-to-toe along its spine as her steps stir fireflies from their hiding places. Its tranquil, really, though the feathery molly didn’t let herself become distracted by the serenity, busy-bodied paws itching to make themselves useful with a night hunt.
She fell on the frogs trail with ease, considering its mournful croaks that had echoed across a nearby pond, it was truly just plucking berries from a bush. Muscle-twined limbs strain under the weight of her low-crawl as Briarthorn snakes her way through marshland greenery, sauntering the ponds edge as the toads croaks grew melodically louder.
Then, she stops. Something indescribable has lodged itself between her shoulder blades, and the rich zephyr shifts to a still. Her spine is set alight with instinctive needles, and she stands, stars be damned if she’d caught as crouched prey.
