the reef : teaching

Troutsnout often heard kits or the younger apprentices always inquiring about the other clans with pure curiosity, and she figured maybe it would be good to teach them so whenever they had their assessments or to fulfill their eager questions. It would help the queens from the pestering questions and allow for them some rest time and help the newer apprentices (or those who would be turning to apprentices this month) with anything they had to ask. Her long tail sways as she peeks her head in the nursery and asks permission from the queens if they could take the kits off their hands for a little bit and eventually going to the apprentice den and gathering some others as well.

" Okay guys! " The warrior states with a soft smile at the small gathering of kits and apprentices before her, settling on her haunches with her tail curling around her front paws. " I'm gonna be answering questions about the other clans for you all. Ask me anything! " Trout would respond with a purr as a kitten hesitantly stutters their question, ' Who is the leaders of the other clans? '. Her ears twitch as the child's question as she giggles softly, " A great question to start off with! " The elder sister would praise before continuing to answer the kitten's question.

" Thunderclan's leader is Howlingstar, and the longest standing leader. Windclan is lead by Sunstar, Skyclan is Orangestar and Shadowclan is Chilledstar. " Troutsnout would answer as she waits for everyone to listen before glancing around, gentle smile on her lip as she waited for the next questions. This was adorable and fun! She remembered teaching Magpiepaw, Frecklepaw, and Kestrelpaw back when they were still kits. " Next question please! " The chocolate tabby would state cheerfully, a dancing chambray gaze friendly on those before (for the exception of Midnightpaw who she avoided looking at).

@turtlepaw @shellpaw @MIDNIGHTPAW @Foxkit feel free to respond before them!

shellpaw liked troutsnout. ever since her feverish days in the nursery, listening to the commotion of her uncle's untimely disappearance through the windblown sway of sedge curtains, then nestling quiet and sick into the thick of her tail to block it out. so when the cinnamon - speckled warrior ducks into the apprentices den with a gentle call for attendance, the wet - nosed girl does so with attentive silence. interest drives her from her newfound den and into a camp is bustling with life, swarms of kits and apprentices gathering nearby with wide, curiosity - brimming eyes. she takes her spot alongside them just as the molly explains their leaders, the cats in charge of each clan. she'd yet to see them, yet to smell or scent their borders. she would, one day.. one day soon. for most of them, at least.

a soft cough announces her incoming question, a warbling voice lifting to a gentle strain for her to voice, ” what is.. shadowclan like? “ the clan was an enigma, secluded and shrouded in mystery to her still - learning mind. they did not have a border to share, and so shellpaw assumes she'll never see it -- pictures rolling hills of black, the bodies of cats moving like their namesake with only their eyes glowing alight. she pictures them moving only in the night, moving silent, ghostlike.. near monstrous, darkness forever dripping from the lengths of their fangs and muck matting their fur in jagged spikes. ew, ” and do they really, um.. live in the mud? “

Learning everything about the clans was the top thing that they had the most knowledge on. They found the other clans to be fascinating and interesting. They each had their own little world built around something that had just started as an accident. Magpiepaw had always been one to ask a thousand and one questions about the clans. They wanted to know everything and anything. The Gathering was their favorite event as well but they had yet to be able to go. Hopefully one day they'd be chosen to tag along but for now they sit by idly and wait.

The black and chocolate cat had been padding past the group of cats that Troutsnout had been seemingly teaching. It brought back memories of when they had been young, sitting in front of their sister and yapping about the clans for hours. Those days seemed so far away now. Magpiepaw twitched and ear and couldnt help themselves as they went over to sit among the group. They nestled down onto their stomach and tucked a paw under them, watching and listening to the question that Shellpaw had asked.

Now to see what the answer was- even if they already knew it. They didnt want to distrupt by being a know-it-all.

Dark ears twitch as she listened to Shellpaw's question, what was Shadowclan like? The chocolate tabby ponders for a moment and Riverclan doesn't border Shadowclan at all, but she's seen them at the gathering and the distinct scent of mud they carry. " That's a good question, Shellpaw. " Trout would state with a smile and she was happy to see the lilac girl was doing better and finally given her apprentice name. She's been through a lot dealing with her sickness despite her age and sometimes she worried that Shell wasn't going to wake up to see the sun the next day with how bad it got.

" They have the smallest territory and are fiercely loyal to their clan. They're very good at stealth because how dark their territory is. " She would explain, her eyebrows furrowing for a moment if there is anything else she should explain. It's known that a lot of Shadowclanners are skinnier than the rest because the scarce prey but were still amazing fighters. While she allows herself to think on it if she should include more, the young girl asks another question. Live in the mud? Well, yes and no. " Well, you're right in some manner. They live in a marsh so they ground is always damp with mud with pine. "

The spotted warrior explains with a gentle smile, her gaze flicking to her sibling for a moment as she offers a weak smile.

Pushed and shoved out of the nursery by overly active denmates Roekit found himself staring into the camp unsure what to do. The others played too rough for his liking, mossballs thrown too hard or wrestling causing his joints to ache too much so instead he looked around. The gathering of kits and apprentices around Troutsnout was something that intrigued him for a moment and so carefully the small tom moved to where they gathered. They were learning about the other clans, about their leaders and what the other territories had looked like and it caught Roekit's attention.

Ears pricked as he listened, leaning forward as the warrior answered Shellpaw's question and he'd look to the apprentice for a moment, eyes wide at the knowledge that ShadowClan was muddy. "Are they- are they always dirty? And smelly 'cause of the m-mud?" Timid voice would ask, ears pinning to the tabby's head as soon as the words left his maw. Being dirty was bad, and it made cats stinky so did that mean that ShadowClan stunk?

જ➶ Ill gaze rakes over the small little teaching session that has sprung up before her. A frown pulls at her muzzle as she watches from where she sits and she almost[ scoffs as she finally decides to make her way over to the gathered group. Making a statement she parks her rump right beside Magpiepaw. Body slightly shifted as it guarding the other. Her ear ticks as she hears Roekit's question and a laugh leaves her muzzle. "How can you not stink living in a swamp? I bet they get bit by all kinds of bugs. Who knows what kind of sicknesses a Shadowclanner carries." If she is honest with herself she has never been friendly with a Shadowclanner. After all the stories of their history they were the ones that started the Great Battle and made Starclan angry. Lightly she glances to Magpiepaw and then towards Troutsnout but she never actually looks at the other.

She is preoccupied with more intriguing things and she pulls her muzzle into a grin. "Do you think we will get Sunningrocks back from Thunderclan? I mean Howlingstar is pretty old and I'm sure someone can put her in her place."
