( ⚘ )Wind clawed at their hazel-carve ears, clipping them with each fierce bluster. A wry paw dabbed at their cold nose, regret already bleeding into their chill bones. Reedrunner sat firm, nas firm as they could, on a half-soak log at the river’s edge. The air skimmed the surface, dervishes of spray meeting its passage along the way. Not ideal- especially in the warrior’s eyes. Any touch of turbulence ruffled their pelt, but they had put off proper swim training with Darkpaw for too long.
Reedrunner’s flimsy tutelage in the fishing department was something they were painfully aware of. Tentative questions levied at the more experienced lot of the clan had granted the theoreticals but it was time the feline put it into practice. Through… Darkpaw, that is. They could, maybe, get in the water too- they probably should… but it felt a little too overwhelming. Would only be a distraction. They’d step in if their apprentice needed them though! They’d have to.
The bronze-brush cat had chosen this spot carefully, at the recommendation of other mentors. A good, measured stretch of water wreathed by the ailing silhouettes of willows. Leafbare had come around so quickly. It was a fairly safe spot to swim, and they knew many cats fished here. It meant that if anything went awry, which it wouldn't, there'd hopefully be somecat nearby.
"S-sorry again about the weather. I… don’t like it either." A sheepish tilt of their head evolved into a full-fledged flinch as the breeze whipped through a willow’s fringe. "Jus-st want you to try and get in and stay in place. T-try to keep in line wi-the branch I’m on" A look the feline tried to pass as reassurance tied off their request. The warrior wanted to be sure that he could swim safely before trying anything too advanced.
