The trek from her old home proves to be grueling; who would've thought that it would be this hard to walk with only three good legs? But, with her captors flanking her, Ember would not show them her pain. She grits her teeth and hobbles along, distracting herself by aiming to slap the tyrant's right hand and boy-toy with her tail upon each lash.

Eventually, they arrived at the border. Ember can feel the scorching of their glares on the back of her skull as she limps into neutral territory. It's only when she's well out of their sight that she collapses, the adrenaline ebbing away to be replaced with a wave of exhaustion and grief. The tears she'd been holding back finally break free from their confines, streaking her bloodied face and pooling onto the grass below. "Shit. Shit." What has she done?

Ember did what had to be done, in her eyes. But is it worth the price she paid? Did she even make a difference? Or will she be just another lesson to be taught, to tighten the shackles around Sootstar's subjects?

She knows all too well about being made an example. A single mistake was all it took, lead by grief and anger, and then you're gone, and if you're lucky maybe then you'll be remembered in the history books. She's out shuffling aimlessly, a heavy huff tumbling from her lips as she pushes herself further, because Cinders kits were coming soon, and she had to make sure she had enough herbs and prey for the to-be mother. Unfortunate timing it would be, with the weather getting colder, Cinder would be lucky that these kits would be born healthy (she won't tell her that, won't hurt her, not the last friend she has).

It's a hiss of anger, grief that brings her out of her thoughts and once gentle paws thrummed forth, bringing her to its maker. "Emberfang?" her shock is just as present in her voice as it is on her face, metaphorical brows furrowed in understanding - What had happened? Had Sootstar finally gone mad, ran out the family that was there first? "Is Pollen okay?" it tumbles from her mouth before she can stop it, studying the tears that fell from the fellow windclanners eyes and down her cheeks.

By the Stars, no matter how they had forsaken her, if Sootstar had even done so much as touch Pollen she will kill her, strip every single life from her body, revel in it, laugh because-

"Are you okay? What... What happened?" she shakes off her previous comment, drawing close with a recognizable softness in her eyes (shes back in the medicine den, just another patient). "They got you good... Let me see if I can find some marigold around here. Talk to me," she invites the molly to open up as she steps back, sniffing around for the yellow flower before her legs carry her to one, plucking it straight from the stem. "How can I help? Besides patching you up."
