This was the last. She had already taken Scarpaw to see the other borders, even if it was a roundabout way just to avoid this one. She had not been looking forward to this. Unlike when she took Scarpaw to the Skyclan border, Dayfern was more subdued, tail dragging along the ground behind her, steps even and measured. Her shoulders hunched and ears alert. She looked behind her at the little patrol behind her, she made sure the dark form of Scarpaw was still there, and double checked that Stormywing and her apprentices were keeping up and hadn't vanished between the trees. She was so glad Stormywing agreed to come with her for this. Even though it wasn't much she appreciated the backup in case things went south.

"This is Shadowclan." Her voice came out dull and monotone, not it's normal exuberant self. "Be wary. Dangerous and mean." She warns her apprentice in a low voice, any Shadowclanners that may be lurking wouldn't be able to hear the words, but she needed her apprentice to know to be wary around the clan in the marshes. Memories of the recent battle still fresh on her mind causing the fur around her neck to bristle briefly before she makes it lay flat once more. "Definitely do not cross border." She lets out a hiss of a breath through her teeth as she trails off. While no clans would take well to trespassing, she personally felt that if a Shadowclanner caught a Thunderclanner trespassing? Only disaster awaits.

Stormywing pads alongside her apprentices, ears pricked and golden eyes scanning the dense undergrowth as they approach the ShadowClan border. Her pace slows as she catches sight of Dayfern's dragging tail and hunched shoulders. It's weird seeing her so quiet. Normally, Dayfern's weird energy could rival a lightning storm, but now? She looks like she's carrying the weight of the entire forest. She doesn't miss the glance her clanmate throws back at her. Yeah, she gets it. ShadowClan. She forces her own pelt to lie flat, though her claws itch against the cold ground. The last time they'd been near this border, her claws and teeth had torn into Sharpshadow's silvery black fur. Wasn't exactly a good time.

"You're not wrong. They're not the friendly type," She comments with a snort, though there's no real humor in her tone. She leaps up onto a low-hanging branch, her tail flicking as she surveys the marshy stretch of land beyond the thunderpath. Her gaze sharpens, but her voice stays light. "But hey, they'd be mouse-brained to pick a fight now - especially with us here." She tosses her head with mock arrogance, flashing a grin back at her apprentices. "Right, Coltpaw? Mottledpaw? Bet ShadowClan's shivering in their nests knowing ThunderClan's greatest are patrolling today." She hopes the teasing will keep them loose. No point in letting the tension get to them.

RIBBITLEAP
HE / HIM | SHADOWCLAN WARRIOR

To be reminded of his failures is the last thing he wants to do, but Ribbitleap still finds himself assigned to patrol this border. The brown tabby's wounds are mostly healed now, and the tom finds himself fussing less and less over them than he'd done in the days after. He can be grateful for that much, at least.

The smell of oak grows thicker than usual as they approach the border, and Ribbitleap frowns. He already doesn't want to be here, but to deal with ThunderClan watching them too makes him want to leave even sooner. Still, the marsh cat knows not to cause problems where ShadowClan can't afford them, and he raises his head to greet the patrol. " ThunderClan, " he notes, before he realizes who stands in front of him. The tom's fur bristles at the sight of tortoiseshell fur among the group.

" You again? " Swamp-green eyes narrow at his former opponent. " What do you want? " Should he prepare himself now? Unsheathe his claws, and expect a fight? He won't let her win, this time around.

Ribbitleap is a brown tabby tom with green eyes and a torn ear. Once indistinguishable from his littermate, it is perhaps likely for his scrawny, form to garner a sense of familiarity to neighboring oak-dwellers.

Sharpshadow pads alongside Ribbitleap, the pain that he'd thought faded in his shoulders mysteriously prickling anew... The old lines have been redrawn. His sigh is heavy as they come to a stop at the edge of the Thunderpath. Of course, only the Clan it was named after would be loud enough to possibly rival it. Whereas the tortoiseshell warrior takes care to keep their voice low for their presumed apprentice, Stormywing couldn't bother to do the same. Why would she ever?

His jaw sets at the sight of her. Like this— When ThunderClan had nothing to gain, and ShadowClan nothing to lose, he found it was a lot harder to hate her the way he had that day. Neck craned upward, his gaze lingers on the tabby warrior before falling upon the more soft-spoken of the two. "Relax," she tells Ribbitleap. Not something as stupid as an order, but just a mumble from a clanmate. Maybe even a plea... "They already got what they wanted. He grits his teeth.

What was he going to do, sit here and seethe? There's a dull flick of his tail, the broken end dredging through soggy ground and pine needles. "So... I guess ThunderClan's greatest are routinely scruffed like kits?" Yeah, if nothing else, she'd just hold that above Stormywing's head forever.

—— ─ ─ Thunderclan, it seems, cannot hold their tongues for even a day - blue eyes flicking towards Stormywing with nothing more then a flick of her tail, expression stony.

Still, she says nothing - watching as Ribbitleap is riled up, and Sharpshadow corrects him. In moments like this, she remembers why she chose her for this - why Sharpshadow was a good fit. Now if only they could get along when it comes to the things that matter, instead of snapping at each others throats in front of the whole clan. " Unsurprising " she says, lilting voice scathing as she looks to her son - she's quite certain even Rainbowpaw could make quick work of thunderclans so-called greatest.

. ݁₊ ⊹ Ternstar is a massive blue-silver tabby she-cat with an all white head and striking vibrant blue eyes. She is far from the kindest of cats, often cold and aloof - with a notable soft-spot for kits, and a rather dark streak for mischief. She is supposedly mates with Wormwatcher, and is parent to Rainbowpaw, Cornflowerpaw, and Ivorypaw. She is gifted in battle, and still maintains all nine of her star-given lives. ​

As much as she pretended not to care much about the ravings of her mentor, Mottledpaw can't help but find amusement in her constant, toxic positivity. She's got a smile practically glued on and enough confidence to kill a bear if it looked at her too long... Still, it's not enough to settle the fur along her spine anytime she's made to patrol this area. It's a gravesite for a different version of herself and that is.... daunting.

Calling her one of ThunderClan's greatest seems like a stretch, given that she is still Stormywing's apprentice instead of the freshly named warrior her siblings are. But she doesn't openly deny it, instead, opting to scoff and drag her attention towards the tarmac path that divides them from ShadowClan. Best... Hopefully that wasn't the truth.

And then there's that cat again... that one that watched Stormywing preen her feathers for Thundergleam... and instantly she is awash with embarrassment. He remembers, which is even worse frankly... and Mottledpaw cannot be convinced to rally herself to her mentor's cause in defense. "ShadowClan are only worth being wary of... not scared," she offers Scarpaw instead, keen to fixate on the younger apprentice and play at would-be mentor herself rather than acknowledge whatever taunting is happening around them. "They're sneaky... but we're the better fighters," in most cases, at least. ThunderClan paws hit like boulders when they could land a strike.​
