It had been a peaceful day so far, and yet, Howlfire could stop her gaze from wandering over to the ThunderClan territory half expecting another patrol to come upon them. Some time had passed since they had dared to steal prey, but the tensions remained and Howlfire was wary for any signs of trouble. After casting a long glance over the ThunderClan border, she turned back to her kits who were walking on ahead. "Be mindful of where you go," Howlfire called out softly. They were only walking through their own territory, enjoying a peaceful respite from training, though Howlfire knew how easy it could be to stoke trouble.

"Just think," Howlfire began, padding up between her two children, "one day soon, you'll be bringing your own apprentices on patrols and tours of the territory such as this!" It was a frightening thought to think about how big her children were getting, but she was ever so proud of them both and the cats they were becoming. The snapping of a branch nearby wipes the smile from her face. She tenses slightly when she hears the approach of pawsteps. "Be on your best behaviour," She urged softly.

@Hawkpaw @BLAZINGPAW @HOWLINGSTAR

Howlingstar had given Antlerpaw the afternoon off - with tensions high, she believes it's good for apprentices to be able to have some time to relax with their friends in camp. She, however, can't seem to sit still. She takes herself out on a solo hunt; after all, one or two more birds on the pile right now could mean the difference between warriors eating tonight or going to bed hungry. If she can try to stop what happened a moon ago along this very border, she would make a hundred hunting trips like this.

As she draws near, she can hear voices through the trees, the fresh scent of SkyClan invading her senses. Ears flicking, the tabby pushes through a patch of ferns to see who it might be - a patrol, perhaps? To her surprise, she comes face to face with her granddaughter, and immediately a purr rises in her throat. "Howlfire," She trills, a gentle smile forming along her maw. "How have you been?" As she speaks, her eyes roam over the two young cats at her side, and suddenly her tail twitches in understanding. Her kits...? She doesn't want to assume, and so she patiently waits to be introduced.

"Okay." Hawkpaw calls back to Howlfire, glancing over his shoulder towards his mentor. Blazingpaw walks to his left, as always, and Hawkpaw is content with the knowledge that his littermate has his bad side covered. With the occasional tap on the flank or playfighting put aside, it's an exercise of trust that the Hawkpaw has grown quite comfortable with. There's no other cat, really, that he'd prefer to be there; except for maybe Wolfpaw, pelts brushing, the three of them a moon out from warriorhood and their mentors close at paw. Even now, his heart aches for their loss- but they can't be gone, not really.

One cream-patched ear twitches as Howlfire shoves between her two kits and Hawkpaw groans, good natured but dramatic as he lets his mother pad between him and his sister. Hawkpaw doesn't know if he'll get an apprentice right away; Howlfire talks a lot about being patient, but he doesn't know if Orangestar would entrust a kit to him with hunting as bad as his. He hears the twig snap, neck fur standing on end as his paws pause on needled ground.

The torbie straightens, posture rigid, not bristling but certainly wary of ThunderClan's leader being right there. Peering from behind Howlfire with narrow hazel eyes, Hawkpaw imagines he must look like a slightly spikier, angrier shadow. Rather than say anything outright to Howlingstar, he waits for his mother to react; or, for more ThunderClanners to emerge from the woods.

It was to be expected they'd likely see or speak to a ThunderClan cat whilst on their work, still it surprise Howlfire to see her grandmother's inquisitive face peeking out through the ferns. "Howlingstar," Howlfire trilled in a tone mirroring her grandmother, the tension she had carried priorly dissipating around the familiar face of kin. "I'm doing well...or as well as can be."

For a moment, she forgets where she is and who she's with, before suddenly she is aware of her kits bristling behind her, looking at the ThunderClan leader with suspicion and curiosity. "It's okay, loves, you don't have to be nervous," Howlfire mewed to her children reassuringly. With a tilt of her head, she gestures for them to step forward more, brushing a tail over Hawkpaw soothingly as he was closest to her. "You've likely seen Howlingstar at gatherings, so I won't go through explaining who she is, but don't you two want to say hello? She is your great-grandmother after all."

-`♡´- GOD, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? YOU'RE A PINK PONY GIRL AND YOU DANCE AT THE CLUB -`♡´-

-`♡´- — She walks alongside Hawkpaw with both of her ears pricked forward as they walk throughout Skyclan territory together, her fiery pelt brushing against the torbie fur of her littermate. A part of her still wishes that Wolfpaw hadn't been taken by twolegs but all she can do is hope that they're safe as a frown pulls at her lips briefly though it's quick to vanish when Howlfire calls out to them. Blazingpaw offers a nod only to let out a soft chuckle when her mother shoves herself between her and Hawkpaw who let's out a good natured and dramatic groan. At the mention of becoming warriors and having apprentices of their own, the molly can't help feel her smile faltering in the slightest and casts her brother a quick look before speaking "If I'm trusted enough with an apprentice." She still feels as though her skills still had to be... perfect and she knows that she isn't quite there yet or if she ever will be.

The snapping of a branch causes Blazingpaw to become alert as well and her body tenses up immediately, her pupils narrowing as a dark tabby parts through a patch of ferns and it takes everything for the auburn pelted molly not to growl. She knows who this is, Thunderclan's leader, and she stands up straight to show her full height... Blazingpaw being much bigger than most apprentices due to her kittypet heritage and it won't be long until she's taller than her own mentor or mother. She presses closer to Hawkpaw in silent comfort before hearing her mother reassure them and asks if the two of them want to say hello. A part of her wants to say in a rather sharp tongue that she would much rather lick a frog but bites her tongue when Howlfire says that Howlingstar is their great-grandmother.

She can't help but glance towards Hawkpaw once more as if trying to see what his own reaction would be towards the black tabby and Blazingpaw turns her attention to Howlingstar once more, she hesitates for a heartbeat or two. "Hello." It comes out a lot less warmer and more monotone than she would've liker, she inwardly winces, and continues after clearing her throat, "I'm... My names Blazingpaw." The red tabby expects for the Thunderclan leader to wince at her name and look at her oddly for having such a name... To bear the name of someone that had been lost to them moons ago.

She watches as one of the apprentices remains behind Howlfire, his eyes that look just like the warrior’s narrowed at her. His fur bristles like he’s seeing a stranger, and when her granddaughter confirms that these are indeed Howlingstar’s great grandchildren, a mix of emotions begins to swirl within her. Her heart swells with pride to see her lineage thriving, even if it is a different clan. They look so big, so strong. They look like their mother. “Hello,” She greets them kindly as she approaches the border on cautious paws. Her green eyes are soft with love, but there is pain reflected there. Pained that they are so distant, so…displeased to see her here. Pained that she does not know them.

She looks to Howlfire again, as if finally getting the chance to say, They are so beautiful, my darling. Congratulations. She shifts her focus back to the apprentices then and offers a gentle smile in an attempt to ease their discomfort. Blazingpaw, The red tabby says. That leaves Hawkpaw to be the other one who bristles behind Howlfire, as Howlingstar recalls it is Wolfpaw who went missing. “It’s very nice to finally meet you two,” She mews warmly. “I’m…I’m so sorry to hear about Wolfpaw. I meant to find you after the Gathering…” She glances to Howlfire, a sympathetic frown on her face. “I…I hope I can get to know the two of you better, even with this border between us.” Of course, she can’t expect them to trust her just like that, can she? They were raised to be loyal and true SkyClanners. Any genuine relationship she could hope to build with them will take time and effort. But she wants to. More than anything, she wants to connect with them.
