  • Hello everyone! It is time for Flamestar to choose her successor. Please check out the Rank Guide and Leadership Guide before applying! I will teach the new deputy how the patrols are done in Thunderclan. If chosen, you will be expected to take on the IC and OOC duties mentioned in the site's rank guide. While being promoted to deputy is not a guarantee you will be the next leader, you must be ready for leadership if you hold the rank of deputy when Flamestar dies/steps down/etc even if chosen as a short-term deputy. Sometimes IRL things come up, and you are acknowledging the possibility that you may become leader regardless of if you choose short or long term.

Flamestar will take this very seriously and is taking her time to decide on her successor. If you are interested in this position, sign up below after reading everything mentioned. There is no set choosing date right now. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to reading everyone's applications :)

  • — Any warrior who has mentored an apprentice and is currently on the census is able to apply
    — Flamestar would not choose a warrior who hasn't been a warrior for at least a season.
    — Someone trustworthy. Flamestar is a loyal and fiercely protective leader. She is unlikely to choose a deputy that she cannot fully trust to someday lead the clan after her. Thunderclan is her everything, and she will not risk her clan falling into the wrong paws again.
  • — Consistent, high activity is a must. The deputy will need to make a minimum posting requirement of 15 posts each month. I totally understand IRL things come up, please don't hesitate to dm me. I am very understanding and will work with you if something comes up.
    — I will only be looking at activity prior to this check as it is well known interest checks can boost muse.
    — I'm looking for someone who can help me make Thunderclan a welcoming and inviting community. The deputy must be active in the discord, friendly, and involved in channels other than their own.
    — You may not have another character on the leader track (currently playing the leader or deputy of another Clan). This excludes lead warriors.

Character Name: @RACCOONSTRIPE
Short or Long-term?: Either, but preferably long-term. :]
Why do you want to be deputy?:
IC REASONS:
AMBITION. Raccoonstripe's greatest ambition has been to lead ThunderClan; since the earliest days of his creation, he has aspired to ascend the ranks of his Clan and be the one to ultimately lead them to glory. He was thrilled to achieve lead warriorhood, but even then he hungered for Flycatcher's position. When Flycatcher chose to step down, he thought he was the obvious choice to replace him. To his chagrin, Howlingstar chose Flamewhisker — a warrior he respected, but who he did not think had the same drive he did to lead their Clan to greatness. When Flamewhisker went to the nursery to nurse her second litter, Raccoonstripe was chosen to succeed her as temporary deputy. He nearly lost the respect of his Clanmates when he led an errant patrol into SkyClan's territory to steal prey. Raccoonstripe's philosophy is no Clan's well-being is as important as his[ Clan's. He will break the warrior code (within reason) to ensure ThunderClan remains strong and healthy. He will get into arguments with Flamestar about whether she's making the right choices with regards to other Clans. He will advocate for usurping territory, for conquer, for restricting their borders — all for the good of ThunderClan.

GUILT. Raccoonstripe was a staunch believer in forestborn supremacy for moons before Skyclaw's rise to power. He ridiculed his sister Little Wolf for her choice in mate and was somewhat derisive toward her half-kittypet kits. While Raccoonstripe was never outright cruel to the cats in ThunderClan with kittypet blood, he made his distrust and suspicion well-known, and during Skyclaw's final moments, he pointed his claw right at Raccoonstripe and told him, you were my hero! Raccoonstripe bloodied his paws with Skyclaw's death; in doing so, he has come to reflect upon the impact his own lifelong prejudices have had on his family and his Clan. He is now facing the impact his words and actions have wrought. He has lost his mother and leader, most of his kin, and arguably, his confidence in himself and his ability to help Flamestar lead her Clan.

OOC REASONS:
I've always loved ThunderClan! I've served on the hp team for over a year now and I've loved every moment of it. This Clan is welcoming, friendly, and full of complex, interesting characters. There are fun, interesting interpersonal plots as well as a desire to plot with others that not every Clan has. Whether or not I were to make it to leader, I would love to serve as Flamestar / Icey's long-term deputy so I could continue that. :]

On that note — it might be pertinent to note to those that are reading this and did not know that I did play Blazestar, founding leader of SkyClan, for one and a half years. Whether that is a plus or a minus, I'll let you decide. I had a lot of fun leading SkyClan and now that there are no term limits, I feel like there is a more natural conclusion to every leader's term without the pressure of having to remain for one and a half years. :]

PLOT IDEAS:
REBUILDING. Raccoonstripe would work on not only rebuilding himself and the confidence he'd lost after Skyclaw's death, but the state of their Clan. He would want more patrols and more teeth being bared at borders. He would want ThunderClan to show their strength after the rest of the forest began to perceive them as weak. Rebuilding the camp would be a priority, too; cats would be put to work re-enforcing barriers and dens. Battle training for apprentices would be heightened, at least for a period of time, and he would urge Flamestar to accompany him and monitor every mentor and apprentice's progress as the moons go on.

DISAGREEMENT. Flamestar and Raccoonstripe would make a formidable team, but there is, if you don't mind me saying, no way in hell they would always see eye-to-eye. Flamestar can be hotheaded, but she was also told by Howlingstar that ThunderClan is the Clan of prophecy, and that ThunderClan is meant to care for every Clan in the forest. Raccoonstripe knows nothing about this and, indeed, would disbelieve it if told. Raccoonstripe's main priority is not just ThunderClan's safety, but ThunderClan's gain. Will we be stronger from this, or will we go back to the status quo? Is this bit of territory enough for us? Why didn't we punish this Clan for doing this to us? Etc. He and Flamestar will likely get into arguments, and this may or may not lead to a bit of contention in their professional relationships. He respects Flamestar, but it will take moons before he respects her as much as he did Howlingstar.
- NOTE: if this leads to a demotion, I'm more than fine with it!

Whatever happens, I want to thank you for the opportunity and I want to wish everyone else who applies the best of luck! No matter what, I love this Clan and am excited for Flamestar's chapter. :]

Character Name: @ROEFLAME .
Short or Long-term?: Long-term.
Why do you want to be deputy?:
IC Reasoning — While not incredibly ambitious, Roeflame is a naturally authoritative character and a seasoned warrior and mentor. Her transition from Lead Warrior to Deputy would not be without its hitches as she learns the ropes of her new role, but it is a title her character would be able to comfortably step into.
Flamewhisker and Roeflame's friendship and sense of camaraderie is a dynamic I absolutely love, and I think they mesh well together. However, I do think there is opportunity to explore how their similar strong personalities can work against the duo in certain situations, and I'd honestly love to get the chance for the gals to bicker, lol. Overall, I think Roeflame has a lot to learn from Flamestar regardless, but she'd be proud (and ecstatic) to step up to her side as Deputy.
OOC Reasoning — ThunderClan has always been my main clan and my priority, and being able to play a Lead Warrior for the last year or so has been such a blast, I love working with the HP team and being an active part of the community as a whole. In regard to Roeflame's activity, that is something I will have no issue keeping up with. I have been writing her for just over two years, and have consistently been able to make 20+ posts a month with her since before her promotion, she's been my priority character and will continue to be. Being able to play her and create a well-rounded, thoughtfully made character has given her deep roots within the clan, her in-depth history is what makes me confident in her ability to be around long-term. I've written Roeflame from kithood and she is a character I hold very dear to my heart, and I would absolutely love to be able to step outside of my comfort zone and step into a whole new journey with her.

Thank you for reading my rambles and the best of luck to everyone interested <3 I cannot wait to the read everyone's applications!!

Character Name: @lovelight
Short or Long-term?: Either/or!
Why do you want to be deputy?:
IC - Lovelight is fiercely loyal to her Clan, and cares deeply about being able to protect those she cares about. She's not overtly ambitious, not caring much for whether she is recognized for what she does or not, but she tries always to stand up for others and to take care of them; she feels as if she has failed time and time again and would be pushing herself further to try to make up for her perceived failures—first in her apprenticeship with the owl incident, and then when Skyclaw took over and she couldn't truly do anything to help aside from support others. Furthermore, she has a deep commitment to ThunderClan's values. She is dedicated to justice for those that have done wrong, fairness towards those who deserve it, and the well-being of her clanmates. On top of this, Lovelight also holds a great sense of respect for Flamestar, given her time as deputy and the fact that she organized and led the uprising that removed Skyclaw from his pedestal.

OOC - In my time writing Lovelight, I've really enjoyed ThunderClan's community, and those that make up the HP team have always seemed so welcoming and helpful in regards to both plotting and socializing! I feel this would be a good way to be able to contribute to that a bit more and hopefully be able to extend that same feeling to someone else. In regards to activity, I won't lie and say that I'm always the most consistent, or that I have met the goal of 15 posts per month in the past—this is part of why I don't mind if the idea of Lovelight as a short-term deputy might be preferred if she were to be chosen in the first place! Lovelight as deputy would be interesting both for me an for the Clan, as I feel the idea of a very empathetic, pacifistic deputy would be interesting, especially considering the chaos that it would follow.
