Why the hell did she volunteer for this?
Brook trails a short distance behind her medicine cat, following along with the sound of his paws crunching against grass. The earth was cold and frosted over this morning, Beesong needed some company with collecting herbs so that he could spare them from the frost. Brook had eagerly offered her aid, but silently she was beginning to regret it. Herbs were magical, plants that could heal cats from ailments such as green cough and open wounds. When she had first heard of the art she had thought cats had been only jesting... but it was no joke. She's seen cats heal faster than ever after having ointments and pulps pressed against their wounds, leaves fed into their mouths.
Despite their magical properties, it was still hard for the warrior to maintain interest. The life of a medicine cat was certainly no life for her, but she could appreciate cats like Beesong who had the smarts and patience for it. Without him, most of RiverClan would be running around sick and wounded.
She stops in her tracks when she hears the medicine cat begin to dig around in the dirt, "We find something?" she asks, "What is it?" Despite her questioning, the blue tabby didn't actually... care...? She cares about Beesong's job, his interests, what he does every day, but the nitty gritty of it? She knows if Beesong tells her what this particular herb was she'd never retain it by tomorrow morning... Yet it was polite to ask and show interest, was it now?"
