Once upon a time, many many moons ago things had been different. Things had been thrown into a world of unknown and uncertainty as two groups of cats became five with leaders each respectively. Back when the world had been uprooted and choices had to be made. Choices that had hurt and cause such grief that it was impossible to see the outcome. That everything was on edge and one wrong move could end the world around them as they knew it, even if it had been a home before the clans. Even if things had been such drastically different.

Still, the young tortie cat had been wondering through the marshes of Shadowclan territory. It was a quiet, deep twilight as the setting sun started to lower in the sky and cast upon its last golden rays upon the land. It was nearly leaf fall and the leaves around them had started to shift and change. Going from greens to oranges and reds, the stench of rotten plant matter growing each day and the rain seemed persistent. Only a matter of a few moons before leaf bare and worry prickled at the stomach of the young orange and brown cat.

Regret was started to grow, planted in their stomach long ago, a few moons ago, when they had picked that of newly formed Shadowclan over- over him. They stopped their movements along the ground, plum of a tail white as snow swished back and forth behind them. They'd picked one life over another, one path over the other and it was a lonely one. It made things worse upon recent, a gut feeling only confirmed by that of the medicine cat that had been assigned to the clans. The worst situation of all and it was with someone- someone who was undeserving of a life in this world.

Darkfeather, previously named Jason, had been someone they'd grown close too. Someone who had earned their trust, their secrets and openness. The only other cat besides- him- that they could tolerate. They had fallen in love, or well it was what they thought love was and thusly had joined Shadowclan when he did. Cause they were in love. Now it was at least four moons since then and they were on their way to the border, to where they could hopefully see him again.

Blue hues flashed before their eyes and they winced slightly, looking down at the ground. They felt foolish, they felt like this was all for nothing and it was like the world was trying to make it the hardest it's ever been. A best friend, someone who was long before Darkfeather, and it felt like he was a stranger now. Even if it only been a few moons, and they doubted he'd wanna see them anyway. Yet they persisted in walking, in continuing along the twilight path towards the open lands beyond.

The Shadowclan border was strong as the clan settled in, and the young tortie watched the world on the other side quietly. Too afraid to step over, too scared to keep going like a kit who didnt know what they wanted. Still, the young tortie sat down quietly and waited. They didnt know if he'd come this way at all today or ever but they wanted to sit here every twilight until he did.

Cygents Cry- i miss you.
