so carry me from these walls————————————————————
It wasn't often that he was able to leave the house. If he was able to escape it was just that, an escape. A door left open for a little too long or a window screen being pulled down during the night. This time around it was a door left open for just a couple seconds too long. It helped that he was small, abnormally so for his age, but he slipped past the legs of his owner and started his way on an adventure.

See these kind of outings had to be savored. The little cat knew that when they got home he would be upset with him for such reckless and careless actions, and why wouldn't he be? Bell had been out on these same streets before their owner had taken him in. He knew about all the horrible things that happened, not that Bell explained any of it to Prince, it was always vague warnings more than anything. Prince's ear would be talked off by the older tom when he came back home that night, so that's why he really had to live it up now.

As the air got a little chillier Prince found his way into the woods near his home. See wandering around sidewalks was fine, but the really fun stuff was in the trees. That's where he could catch a mouse or climb a tree. It's also the place that Bell told him to avoid the most. The tom had told the wide-eyed kitten that wild cats lived in the woods, that a long time ago they had given him the scar that cascaded across his face. Prince of course believed it but they also just saw a critter run under a bush and maybe if he brought it back with him Bell wouldn't care that they went into the woods. He had gone deeper into the woods than he had originally planned, he wasn't great at catching mice so although he was able to keep tracking the prey he hadn't been lucky enough to catch it yet. His yellow eyes stayed pinned to the rodent as it cleaned it's ear, nothing else in the world mattering in that moment, not the slowly setting sun, the increasingly cold weather, or the thick stench of cat that now lingered in the air.

The tom had been off practicing hunting all because his mentor Silversmoke seemed to loathe it. Crowpaw was beginning to suspect the reason why his mentor avoided such a thing was because he himself was not great at hunting and while fighting was nice and all, what use was fighting if you couldn't hunt properly. For that reason he would come here after training with Silversmoke to practice tracking and hunting. As self taught as he was, he knew he had a lot to learn before he can consider himself decent at hunting. Birds were much easier for him than rodents oddly enough. Today he deicided he would try his hand on a rodent. Which? he didn't have a preference all of them were challenging to him. The tom leaped from tree branch to tree branch, trying to find a good hunting spot. He waited and waited, until a mouse unaware of the predator watching from above cleaned it's ear without a care in the world.

Now, if Crowpaw had been paying attention he would've caught wind of another cat. However, he would argue that it was hard to discern who were daylight warriors and who were not because Skyclan was the only clan to have cats who could return to their kittypet owners. Anyhow, hazel eyes narrowed while he carefully prepared himself to drop onto the poor helpless mouse. Now! Without any warning he would leap from his branch, dropping down gracefully. There was no time to think. He knew as soon as he landed near the vile thing it would flee, so as soon as all paws hit the ground he propelled himself and snapped his maw around the small creature. It fell limp.

A successful hunt out of four when it came to rodent like prey. It was pretty bad, but he wanted to improve his hunting skills and if he kept hunting birds how would he improve? It's then that he notices the yellowed eyed tom and stares. Perhaps Prince would think he was much older due to his larger size. Blame his maine coon genetics for that. However, both of them were around the same age. Crowpaw doesn't know much of how cats within the twoleg place speak of them. He didn't care too much to learn about it, considering he's busy with training and other things. It doesn't occur to him either that he stole a hunt from the yellow eyed tom.

The ink colored apprentice tilts his head and blinks before dropping the mouse unceremoniously. "What is it? Are you lost?"

He could practically taste the fur on his tongue. He was just about to make his final strike when a black blur fell from the sky, smashing the mouse and any misplaced confidence that Prince had built up. In an instance the young tom's body fluffed up to double it's size, soft fur becoming protective prickles around their whole body. His eyes were full of terror, this was it, this was the end. This giant wild cat was going to gut him just like that mouse and he wasn't going to be able to do anything about it. If he wasn't so stubborn he might have cried with fear, this was certainly the most scared he had ever been, and yet their foot wouldn't budge. Despite everything in his head telling him to run home as fast as he could and tell Bell that he was right, he simply couldn't move.

All he could do was tremble and watch the hulking half-cat half-bird look back at him. The scar across the cat's lips was very prominent to the fluffy tabby, a battle-scar probably. Maybe this was the cat that attacked Bell? Then he speaks, and Prince falters a little. His attention dips for a second as he finally closes his gapped mouth. He fumbles for words for a second, trying to sort his thoughts out, his mouth opening and closing like a fish.

"I'm no-" his voice cracks but he pushes through "I'm not lost. I know exactly where I am." he ends his words with an arrogant tone, taking a deep breath and puffing out his chest, fur still standing straight on end. Maybe he could play off his puffed hackles and not look like a scared kitten in front of this danger.
